I also don't use it, so I didn't pay too much attention to an article I
read recently, but I do remember that the old fashioned zinc cream was
still the best to use.
In Australia when we first came here 40 years ago it was quite amusing
to see the kids with white noses, and they also could get coloured zinc
cream. Then I didn't notice it any more. Interesting now that they are
all using chemical sunscreens to find that the old one was the best.
If they are out in the mid-day hours they should have hats and shirts.
They will get plenty of incidental D. Only mornings and evenings for
direct sun on the skin. Or so I am led to believe . . . maybe it
depends on your latitude.

CS>Sous Vide Cooking

2010-05-24 Thread Norton, Steve
I expect that like most people, I want to eat healthy. When I was
younger, I took various cooking classes and enjoyed planning and
executing new and interesting gourmet type meals. As I got older I found
that time would not allow for those type of meals and I used juicing as
a way of getting vegetables in my diet combined with bulk type main
courses that I could freeze and reheat when needed. Now I am at the
stage where crock pot meals and casseroles are more my style. I find
that when I try juicing, a lot of fruits and vegetables just rot before
I get to juicing them.
So now I depend a lot on powdered plants that I buy or make myself. I
just blend them in a protein drink and feel that it makes for a pretty
good diet. Better at least than fast food. I also use tincturing as a
way to capture and preserve whole food nutrients and medicinal plant
extracts. As some know, I do make some silver citrate. Since it can be
concentrated, I experiment with it as a preservative for some extracts,
Mostly water based extracts. I also plan to look at using magnetic
pulses as a preservative. Perhaps in conjunction with other
preservatives.
Some items such as giant brown kelp that I get locally, I extract the
juice and powder it using a homemade low temp vacuum machine to try and
preserve the enzymes. I don't do it often as my wife doesn't like the
odor.
Because of some posts by Renee, I may try my hand at essential oil
extraction but I am not sure that will be cost effective but maybe in
certain cases.
But I still wish that I could get more raw fresh vegetables and fruits
in my diet. Sous Vide cooking looks to be one way to cook and preserve
meats and vegetables while retaining a large amount of their vitamins.
Sous Vide is a cooking method that cooks food at low temperatures in
vacuum sealed bags submerged in water. Temperatures are carefully
controlled at temps below boiling. Cooking can take several days at the
lower temperatures. Vitamins, even vitamin C, are mostly retained, even
during storage in the sealed cooking bags. This may be the ultimate
crock pot.
The main drawback is that Sous Vide cookers are expensive. You can do it
manually but it takes a great deal of your time.
But I came across plans for a DIY Sous Vide cooker that you may even be
able to simplify some more than it is. The plans use a microcontrolled
heater but I think that one could devise a method using a simple digital
thermometer that has a settable audio temp warning capability. The
audio warning could be used to halt the heater for a predetermined
amount of time when the desired regulated temperature is achieved and
maintain satisfactory temperature control. A digital thermometer of that
type costs around $20.
Sous Vide cooking does not reliably kill all pathogens and so food must
still be refrigerated or frozen but the food will keep for an extended
period of time without a significant loss of vitamins. Again, something
such as silver citrate or magnetic pulsing might help to extend the
period of preservation.

For those who may be interested here are the plans for the DIY cooker:

Uuuuhhh--let me go look.

Eyebright, herb and flower
Goldenseal root
Mullein flower
Fennel seed
Red raspberry leaf
Cayenne pepper

Instructions:
10 drops in 1 ounce distilled water, twice a day

Trust me--you have to BUILD UP to that 10 drops. Lol Once a day is enough
unless you have sight problems. Then you can do it twice and even 3 or 4
times a day. He says if there is an infection you should fill an eye cup
and use it in one eye, then rinse that out and do the other eye, so that you
don't spread infection.

Because my eyes are fine I just use the same water for both eyes, and I use
our well water. Not telling anyone else to do that though. I simply fill
up my eye cup, add the drops, and then use that.

He says that you should put the eye cup on, blink the eyes (which is hard to
do at first when you are not use to the cayenne), and then hold the eye open
and roll your eyes in a circle clockwise, then counter clockwise.

That's it. The clarity afterwards is incredible--though it doesn't last.
But when that blood flows into your eyes, you can SEE. :-)

Re: CS>Tightening Teeth

2010-05-24 Thread Renee
This is the exact method I used. In just 3 days it totally killed a tooth
infection that I'd had for months. It did nothing to tighten my teeth, but
by the end of the second week my teeth started to ache. By the end of the
third week, they hurt so bad I could not even eat. I finally figured out it
was the acid in the MMS I was doing. I stopped the MMS and slowly, back
over the course of another 3 weeks, the pain stopped completely.

So, that's why I said in my previous note, if I were to do this now I would
1) not use as much acid to activate it, as now there is a chemist on the MMS
list that says that's too much acid. Plus the time needs to be 10 minutes
to activate instead of 3 and 2) I'd either rather rinse over and over with
plain water--or, more likely, I'd rinse with some baking soda in water to
neutralize the acid, as I believe it was the acid that made my teeth SO sore

Another question... do I 'have' to activate the MMS to make it effective??

Here is an excerpt of what I have just finally! found on tightening teeth:

Re: CS>Tightening

2010-05-24 Thread Renee
By itself MMS, activated, will tighten teeth, according to Jim Humble and
others that have tried it. Now though I would not mix the 5 drops acid to 1
drop MMS, as they've found (chemists, not Jim as he still wants the 5 to 1)
that 1 to 1 drop ratio, and let it sit for 10 minutes. This activates just
as good without the excess acid.

So you can use any amount for the teeth--a 5 or 6 drop dose of MMS, then
activated, then wait, then add to water and rinse--kind of hold in your
mouth for a while too. You can spit or swallow. But be sure to rinse good
because the acid used can actually start removing enamel. That happened to
me--or at least if not actual enamel removal, my teeth became SUPER
sensitive. It might even be good that after you are done with the MMS to
rinse in some baking soda to neutralize the acid.

You could always add a bit of DMSO to the Activated MMS as that would make
it go in further, quicker.

Re: CS>Tightening Teeth

2010-05-24 Thread Ruth Bertella
Another question... do I 'have' to activate the MMS to make it effective??

Here is an excerpt of what I have just finally! found on tightening teeth:

"So this is how to have a healthy mouth in less than one week! Mix up
a 10 drop dose of MMS. Put 10 drops in a dry empty glass, add 50
drops or ¾ teaspoon of lemon juice or 10% citric acid solution, swirl
to mix, and wait 3 minutes and add ¼ glass of water. Using a soft
tooth brush, pour a few drops on the tooth brush and brush your gums
at the point where the gums and teeth come together. Keep this up for
5 to 8 minutes or more. Be very thorough; keep adding drops to your
tooth brush. Brush so that a little bit of MMS works it way under the
gums where they touch the teeth. Of course brush the teeth as well.
MMS will not hurt the enamel of the teeth and will kill plaque and
other buildups on the teeth. If you gums and mouth is in very bad
shape (bleeding, with loose wobbly teeth, aching, and bad smelling)
brush as described above three or four times a day for several days.
Also floss you teeth while holding small amounts of MMS in you mouth.
No matter how bad, if you brush and floss properly, they will be
mostly cleared up within a week. Give them three weeks for the gums
to be completely cleared up, and hard. It may take up to 2 months
until all teeth are solid like they were welded in place. After being
treated with MMS it will normally be unnecessary to pull most of the
teeth that would otherwise need pulling. However, if there are teeth
that you are sure will need to be pulled, don't wait until the teeth
are solidly in place. At that point they will be extremely hard to
pull as they will become attached to the jaw bone as nature meant them
to be. So far all those people who have called to say it didn't work,
have also called to say that once they used MMS right, their mouth
cleared up. MMS is a weak oxidizer and cannot hurt anything in the
mouth or body except pathogens. Once your mouth is completely
healthy, you will not need to floss and you will need to brush with
MMS only once or twice a week."

Thanks Day & Steve for your great suggestions... those are being added to my
file and/or arsenal as well!

RE: CS>Tightening

2010-05-24 Thread Norton, Steve
Ruth,

The only silver list archive on tooth tightening is I could find is at:
http://www.mail-archive.com/silver-list@eskimo.com/msg126534.html

It mentions MMS about halfway down the post.

Separately, a several posts online have mentioned some success with oil
pulling. For example:
http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/tooth_abcess6.html

01/02/2007: Diane from Philadelphia, PA writes: "I have been oil pulling two
times a day for about a month now and notice a vast improvement in my gums. I
have had 2 root canals and at my last dental visit, they wanted to do a 3rd
root canal to correct the previous two. Needless to say, I had severe gum pain
and an abscess that caused me excruciating pain. My jaw would swell up to the
size of chipmunk's. I was in constant pain. I started oil pulling with
sunflower oil and notice that my pain had decreased in intensity by day 3.
Within 7 days, I had no pain and my abscess was completely gone. I ran out of
sunflower oil and am now using extra virgin coconut oil. My gums are a healthy
pink--they are no longer receding. I had a loosened tooth that really needed to
be pulled but the gums have tightened around the tooth and it is no longer
loose. My skin feels softer and I'm no longer plagued with earaches. I tried
oil pulling with Olive Oil but could not stand the taste. Once I finish up my
coconut oil, I will go back to sunflower (it is a better tasting oil)."

Another possibility is at:
http://curezone.com/schulze/handbook/toothgum.asp

"Tooth And Gum Restore Formula

Formulae:
Bayberry root bark, Oak galls, Echinacea root, Tea Tree oil, Peppermint oil and
Cayenne pepper.

Therapeutic Action:
This formula increase the circulation to the teeth and gums. If used regularly
it will rebuild tooth bone loss, tighten teeth, tighten gums and stop bleeding
gums due to plaque build up and gingivitis. This formula is anti-bacterial and
anti-fungal and will destroy oral infections on contact.

Dosage:
For best results get a water pic. Place 4 to 6 dropperfuls of the formula into
a water pic reservoir along with warm water. Use the strongest setting that you
can tolerate. If done daily you should notice gum bleeding halts within 1 week.
You can also add 2 dropperfuls to 2 ounces of water and rinse mouth thoroughly
swishing and straining the water through all the teeth. This formula can also
be massaged directly into the gums using a cotton swap."

All that I have seen regarding tooth tightening relates only to eliminating the
infection and then hoping that the tooth naturally retightens. Personally, I
would include something to support recalcification of the teeth since that may
be an accompanying problem. The following patent has a good summary of the
various parented approaches.
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2008/0152598.html

It recommends a combination of calcium zeolite along with a form of phosphate
(sodium phosphate, mono-sodium phosphate or tri-sodium phosphate) as an oral
rinse.
According to the patent:
"the oral composition for stabilization, recalcification and remineralization
of dental enamel and dentin comprises: 0.1-10 wt. % of the calcium form of
zeolite; 0.00132-2 wt. % of phosphate ions"

Hope this is useful.

If you want a really hot tincture you can try scotch bonnets. I found this in
Wikipedi. We had them when I lived in the caribbean and they have found their
way north. If you like heat you will probably like them.
PT
Scotch bonnet, also known as Boabs Bonnet, Scotty Bons[1] or Bonney peppers[1],
(Latin: Capsicum chinense) is a variety of chili pepper that belongs to the
same species as the habanero. A cultivar of the habanero, it is one of the
hottest peppers in the world. Found mainly in the Caribbean islands and also in
Guyana and the Maldives Islands, it is named for its resemblance to a Tam
o'shanter hat.[2] Most Scotch Bonnets have a heat rating of 100,000-350,000
Scoville Units.[3] For comparison, most jalapeño peppers have a heat rating of
2,500 to 8,000 on the Scoville scale.

These peppers are used to flavour many different dishes and cuisines worldwide.
Scotch bonnets have a flavour distinct from its habanero cousin. This gives
jerk dishes (pork/chicken) and other Caribbean dishes their unique flavour.
Scotch bonnets are mostly used in Grenadian, Trinidadian, Jamaican, Barbadian,
Guyanese, Surinamese, Haitian and Caymanian cuisine and pepper sauces, though
they often show up in other Caribbean recipes.

Fresh ripe scotch bonnets change from green to colours ranging from pumpkin
orange to scarlet red. Ripe peppers are prepared for cooking by cutting out the
seeds inside the fruit which can be saved for cultivation or other culinary
uses.

Hi Lisa. I use fresh. You don't have to use that much if you are not
making a LOT of tincture. I believe that 2 pounds makes a half gallon of
tincture--maybe more. It's been a long time since I've needed to make any.
I have about 2 gallons sitting in my simples room.

I actually use 80 proof vodka. You can use either 100 or 80 proof. Depends
on how much you want to spend. Here it's a bit harder to find 100 proof
vodka. You can buy the cheapest American vodka you like because by law, all
American vodka has to be both tasteless and odorless, so they are the same.
Of course, when you look at imported vodka there's a huge price range.

You CAN use dried peppers, or even powder, to make a tincture. I simply
prefer to use fresh material whenever I can, and here I can buy habs or any
other pepper all year long. They run about $4 a pound.

I never measure my stuff out. I just always have a couple bottles of vodka
on hand to make sure I have enough for when I get in my tincture making
moods.

What I do is just put in as much material as I have or will fit in my
blender, cover with vodka and blend. If it's too thick I add more vodka and
blend again. I want it to be slushy but not thick. Then when I pour it
into the glass jar and let it settle, if there's not an inch of liquid on
top I add enough vodka to do that.

So since I don't measure, I can't give specifics. Just have a couple
bottles of vodka on hand and blend away. :-)

Samala,

Renee

In the modern e-mail environment, the widespread use of webmail has

If you put a mailto:someb...@somewhere.net link in a web page, when it

Sounds logical, as water and oil don't mix and just spreads the oil more.

I wonder if he got better eyesight after that. I use Schulze's eye wash
formula which has a LOT of cayenne tinc in it. Burns like fire in the eyes
when you are not use to it--but when the stinging stops (never, ever damage
so no worries) everything is bright, and the colors just pop. It's very
refreshing and the eyes feel wonderful after a rinse.

Many people have used this wash to get rid of cataracts and even macular
degeneration.

Renee

Hi Renee.do you use fresh or dried peppers? And if you use a 2 pounds - how
much vodka do you use (and is that 100 proof?).

I've made some myself - but I used dried and definitely not a pound of
peppers.but I can always add more :-)

Hey Tel. I follow Dr. Schulze's method of both making and using the cayenne
tincture. He's stopped plenty of strokes and heart attacks as a doctor, and
he uses 2 to 3 droppers of tincture or a tablespoon of powder in a small
amount of water.

Cayenne may feel like it is burning, but it does NO damage. Dr. Schulze has
had cayenne powder blow directly into his eyes, without any damage, and so
upped the amount of cayenne used in his eye formulas.

I made my super strong habannero pepper tincture, and after an accident
while straining it, the tincture ran over both hands for about 5 minutes
while I was holding the bag it was straining through. My hands burned like
fire for 3 days. The pain was so bad it would wake me up at night that
first night. BUT--there was ZERO skin damage.

You are making people afraid where there is no need for fear. Cayenne is a
life saver, certainly--but it doesn't damage and I was not lucky--I knew
exactly what I was doing.

I make my tincture with up to 2 pounds of habannero peppers and vodka. I
blend them in my blender and let them sit in a glass jar for up to a year
before straining. I don't like everclear--I detest the taste, so I use
vodka. I also now add a large handful of my wild chili pequin peppers,
which are actually hotter than habs (which, outside of 2 new types of
peppers are considered the hottest peppers there are) so my tincture is
STRONG. I've given plenty away, also. I don't sell it though. I'm not in
that business.

So, there is no reason to fear the internal or external use of cayenne
tincture.

Samala,

Renee

Home defense tactic. [From the book of accidental revelations ]
Place a small jar of hot peppers and vinegar in a jar and place it in a
microwave oven set for several minutes on high power.

Trigger the on button by your favorite device...[Panic Button? ]

A minute after the microwave turns on, nobody stays in that house.
It's a lot harder to be robbed when all you have is your jammies out in
the yard and everybody is half blind and crying.

was walking by who had been a medic. Knowing that oleoresin of capsicum
is acid he grabbed a can of oleoresin of apricot and smeared handfuls of
it onto the first man's face and into his eyes. The apricot was a base
and it neutralized the acid of the capsicum and saved the first guy's
sight. I would suggest that people can try the same thing with the
cayenne if it burns too much. Try something basic like bicarb or a
non-acidic fruit and see what happens. If that doesn't relieve it you
might want to try some milk which can cut the oil of the cayenne and let
it rise and be washed away.

The pepper family can be brutal. There were summer days they had to open
up all the windows and evacuate the plant because the heat of the day made
the heat of the spice too intense to be in.

Definitely a clear glass whisky bottle. Empty for a long long time. [In
a Nitrate rich atmosphere. a barn?]
Apparently glass makes a pretty good capacitor plate and that's a surface
thing..could be related.
But that would account for adhesion [by way of adsorption?] and maybe Gecko
feet.

The permeability of glass and fused quartz to water, alcohol and ether and
its relation to pressure windows has been studied. These liquids are shown
to penetrate to considerable depths if the pressure is maintained for as
long as fifteen minutes, in which case the pieces of glass or quartz are
shattered if the pressure is rapidly released. However, if the pressure is
released over a period of several days little or no breakage occurs. It is,
therefore, likely that much of the difference in the behavior of pressure
windows as different liquids are used in contact with the windows is due to
their ability to penetrate the glass or quartz.

..small amounts of pressure over long periods of time?

I would think that surface adsorption could be overcome fairly
easily...could be wrong.

Hi Ode, There is a whole body of science dedicated to the physics of
surface chemistry. Surface molecules are not subject to the same dynamics
as the molecules in the interior and thus show a different physical

"attraction" forces available, thus the adsorption forces.
Ceramic bottles containing perfumes dating back thousands of years have

OK, good to know it doesn't go very far in...and needn't go very far
to get out.

..but it does adsorb.
Is there a difference between surface structure and the rest of the
bottle where a few centuries would make a difference. [a moot point in
practical terms ]
I found a 100 year old whisky bottle in a barn many years ago and barely
grazed it on something on the way out...it instantly turned to dust.

Ode, What you seem to describe is a well known effect of surface
adsorption. It is true that glass and many other surfaces exhibit the
property of attracting and retaining organic molecules much in the same
way as charcoal and zeolites perform. However this is a surface
phenomena ( several molecular layers thick) and it is far from "Glass
isn't as "waterproof" as we think it is and just like oil will migrate
though cast iron, various things will migrate through glass in either
direction"
The permeability of glass is such that is used to contain the smallest
molecules (hydrogen) at high pressures. It is also used to hold high
vacuum values for years (forever, really) Glass is impermeable to any
common fluid. Hydrofluoric acid is the only compound that reacts
chemically with glass but nothing migrates through.
The difficulty in eliminating traces of any prior contents in glass can
be eliminated by using aqua regia a mixture of 3 parts of Hydrochloric
and one part of Nitric acids and allow to stand for a couple of hours
and rinse thoroughly with distilled water. If necessary the mixture can
be heated to 70-80C. Proceed with caution this blend is highly corrosive.

Hello :-)

My test email, and I just wanted to say, that I'm spreading CS
amongst my friends and their friends. Some are totally in awe, some
are a bit still sceptical, that this clear water is like an
antibiotic. But whenever someone gets ill, and they take some, they
feel so much better afterwards. That puts a big smile on my face.
