PRP most often starts as a patchy rash on the scalp, face or chest. Over a period as short a several weeks it extends downward, and often covers much of the body. It spares areas of old scars and injuries, and leaves small islands of entirely unaffected skin. The rash has an orange-red color (salmon) and the palms and soles become thickened. Rough, dry plugs can be felt within the rash. The itching is usually severe at first, and then later is not as bad as you would think considering how bad the rash looks. A friend has just developed the condition and I had never heard of it before. Hoping someone out there knows something. Dianne

We let the vet talk us into spaying our nine year old Australian Cattle Dog 2 years ago. She developed urinary incontinence a few weeks later. Our first dog had that problem, too. The vet put Daisy on one pill of DES per week (which they supply) which we found makes her sick at night, so I now give 1/2 pill Sunday and 1/4 pill Wednesday. * Diethylstilbestrol (DES) is a synthetic form of the hormone estrogen that was prescribed to pregnant women between 1940 and 1971 to prevent miscarriage, premature labor, and related complications of pregnancy. * Women who took DES during pregnancy have an increased risk of breast cancer. * Increased risks of clear cell adenocarcinoma of the vagina and cervix and of breast cancer have been found for daughters of women who took DES during pregnancy; fertility problems are also more common among these daughters. The vet assured me that there is no danger to a woman giving these to the dog unless she drinks the dog's urine. They make soft formed tablets which the dog enjoys eating and I can cut them with the scissors. (I get them at the vet's office, so I assume they form them.) The other choice is the PPA, but you have to give that every day and I think it only helps 70% of dogs. Incontinence in any warm blooded mammal, human or otherwise, is usually attributed to kidney functions being blocked or damaged in some way. I cured my old guy, (dog) with Dr. Reikiweigs Homeopathic Formula for kidneys, I think it was the #7 formula. I have taken it for gall bladder issues too. Worked wonders and I didn't have to go back to the hospital. Hope this helps someone out there. Re: CSSpay Incontinence in Dogs
Spay Incontinence After a female dog is spayed, their level of the female hormone, estrogen, is significantly lower. Estrogen plays a part in constricting the sphincter muscles dogs use to urinate. The lack of estrogen means a lack of that tone needed to control her sphincter. The adrenal glands also produce estrogen, albeit in small amounts. This is usually enough to keep the sphincter muscles working properly, but in about 20% of cases, this isn't so. Male dogs also suffer this (with the lack of testosterone) however it's not generally as much of a problem as it is with female dogs. Re: CSSpay Incontinence in Dogs
Pat thank you for this! I belong to another group and I tried to tell them this but only one person agreed and wanted to listen, the rest, well the disagreed very strongly. I went through this with my girls and I must confess after my hysterectomy I needed hormonal replacement because of my adrenal insufficiency. One of my males had Cushing's disease in the early stages and after he was neutered it went full blown because his adrenal glands weren't healthy enough to produce testosterone. Re: CSHow do I post a message? Select, trim, edit subject line.
I'd like to suggest that people believe digest is an easier format in which to receive email because they don't get so many emails in a day. However, it seems to me like it is much slower to review contents of a digest than to scroll through individual emails (which have individual subject headers, a big bonus), I can skim through dozens of emails quickly and delete them even more quickly. In digest format, there are no subject headers for the digest itself, just digest and date, number or whatever. And if a digest contained something I wanted to save, I had to save the whole darn thing as a document then edit it, title it..big time consuming PITA for me. If left saved in email inbox, then I had to read through the whole thing to find the one or two posts of interest, and as instructions given point out, replying to an email from a digest is an even bigger pain. Digest format is just too cumbersome IMHO. Maybe some people have to pay for each email downloaded? That is the only reason I'd ever go back to digest. sol Rowena wrote: Two things, though.
