Re: CSMake your own kefir: easy
I mix my 4Tbs. of Flax oil in a cup of (homemade) kefir. It tastes good and I understand there is a synergistic effect by taking flax with a high quality protein (cottage cheese is the one most usually mentioned). I hope the kefir gives me the same effect as it is much simpler to do than the cottage cheese (that I used to mix with the Flax.) It's good for the colon and serves the same purpose as yogurt in fighting yeast infections. 1 qt. milk 1 pkg kefir starter from health food store (first time only) Heat the milk to 180F but do not boil. Cool it down to about 75F. Cover and let it sit out overnight or until it forms a curd. Chill in refrigerator to stop the action. Put the cold milk in the blender and add fruit or berries. Strawberries or peaches are good. I like it sweet, so I add a little corn syrup or fruit flavored syrup. Serve ice cold. Delicious and healthful. I save a cup of the curdled milk to use as a starter for the next run and avoid buying expensive starter. mama -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver. Edith I think you are right. That begs the question does kefir have the same amt. of sulphur as cottage cheese? Another great way to fight off yeast in a relatively short time is by taking a product(a chiropractor once introduced to me) called FORMULA SF22, by Thorne Research. The main ingrediant: 10-undecenoic acid(derived from castor bean oil) PG I make my own kefir. I JUST RAN A BATCH USING THE CUP OF CURDLED MILK AND IN NO TIME HAD A CUP OF DELICIOUS COTTAGE CHEESE. I STRAINED OFF THE LIQUID, THIS TIME ADDING RENNET THIS TIME, AND SET IT TO CURDLE. WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. IF YOU WANT TO PLAY IT SAFE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE KEFIR STARTER PACKAGE.
