Re: CSSo many stomach complaints
Hi All! I make my own good bacteria gut re-populator. Takes a little doing but is worth the effort. Take a full head of fresh cabbage, quarter and run lightly thru an electric chopper. Put this mash in a gallon conatiner, class preferably, add enough distilled water to cover. Close the container with cheese cloth to keep out bugs and other contaminanrts. Set in a dark corner for ten days, pour off the liquid, I use a sun tea jug so I can refrigerate it. Drink a cup or two a day. Works better for me than acidolphilus of any brand. Re: CSSo many stomach complaints
Can you describe the mash a little bit better? Are you talking about a food processor? How much liquid is there and what size are the pieces of the cabbage? Do the bacterias come just from the cabbage itself? Do you rinse the cabbage before chopping? Sorry for all of the questions but this idea sounds easier than some of the other fermented brews that I've looked into and I'd like to try it. Re: CSSo many stomach complaints
Hi Lea Ann! Of course I rinse the head off before cutting it to fit in the food processor. I do not chop it very long so the shredded pieces are larger, ~quarter size. I pour the small amount of liquid from the chopper into the jug along with the mash also. I pour from a Wal-Mart gallon of distilled water into the 1/2 full of mash sun tea jug until it almost reaches the top, 1/2 or so down.. I put the open air cap lid on and bind cheese cloth over the opening and store at room temp of about 70ºF. When it is fermented and after removing the hard stuff I do add a tablespoon of sea salt or canning salt for flavoring. Do not use table salt here either as the additives will kill the mixture. If you slice the cabbage into 1/8 thick slices and leave the fermentation for about a month you will have the best sauerkraut ever. A large head of cabbage will make five gallons of sauerkraut. I had the same thing for about six months, doubling over in severe abdominal pain and on the brink of collapse until a friend of mine suggested Acidophilus pills. I take two Rexall Brand Acidophilus (bottle says over one billion live organisms per tablet at time of manufacture) pills per day over 2 hours after taking CS. This definitely has made the difference for me and my family and I haven't had any intestinal discomfort since. My friend, Chet - 77y.o. and looks 55y.o., has been buying his from the local health food store who sell the stronger, refrigerated variety of Acidophilus for those who want to spend a few more dollars. Also, you are correct when you state that yogurt is also good for us, especially those of us who take CS. It has natural Acidophilus in it but no one knows just how much you have to eat to make a difference. I buy my Rexall Brand Acidophilus at Wal-Mart and spend about $6.00 for 100 tablets. Hope this helps you. I'm also impressed with Dr. Richard Schulze's bowel program using his formula #1 to stimulate bowel evacuation and later on combine with the formula #2. I think as long as the bowel was not actually blocked, this would be usable. He said that he was actually able to force contractions of bowels from a cadaver using the formula #1. It is a herbal formula made with mostly cascara sangrada and aloes, if I remember right. As to becoming dependent on this type of laxative, he said (my interpretation of what he said) that even if one becomes somewhat dependent on this sort of laxative, it will make the bowels evacuate properly and over time build up their muscular strength and structure so they will be able to operate properly after a period of weening off of the laxative. He also recommends some diet changes and supplementation especially during healing of chronic and acute problems. You can't be doing bentonite and psyllium if your bowels aren't moving properly... How about trying some colonics from a good colonic therapist - keeping the colon clean is one of the aspects of good health which many do not adhere to because of what has to be done to achieve the end, however as the colon abuts on to most if not all of the major and important organs of the body it is the most important thing to keep clean and in good condition - it has been proved that there is re assimilation from a dirty colon back into the organs close to it which causes serious diseases and conditions - as I am a colon therapist amongst other things - I have a very good idea of what I am talking about, I give myself a good colonic irrigation once a month - not only does this therapy clean the colon it also massages the walls of the colon which keeps it in good condition and working order - so I strongly suggest you investigate this aspect for good health. RE: CSSo many stomach complaints
I am using natural enzymes from my chiropractor and kelp and have started with a natural calcium and other minerals preparation. Cant use Kefir or Yogurt. I am lactose intolerant and they make the burning worse. I know buttermilk,,warm in a small glass lightly salted is ok and yogurt are 2 biggies, yoplait works and tastes pretty good also the health sections of most stores will have things like papaya enzymes, these are wonderful after a stomach virus has run through, maybe your stomachs are stripped of thier natural enzymes and they need to be replaced.
