Yucca again, eh... Good idea. My dog is so little, wouldn't take much...

You know one theory of why yucca works is that it improves bowel flora.

1999-07-05 Thread Marshall Dudley
I would suggest mixing in in her water. I would suggest a couple of ounces per
gallon for maintnance, maybe 8 or so oz per gallon if you have a problem you are
trying to help. Then weight really doesn't mattter, the bigger she it the more
she will drink.

Might want to make dietary changes. MSM works much better on arthritis
if given with yucca. You can buy this in pelleted form(or powdered)
cheaply by getting it from a Horse vet supply place such as United Vet
Equine. Deb

Dear Silver Hounds,

I just started my dog on a combo of silver, MSM, Pascalite clay,
glucosamine, chondrotin (sp?) and Vit C. I am mixing it up and shotting it
into her mouth twice a day. I am wondering how long this mix can sit...it
doesn't seem to turn darker...

   She has severe arthritis.

Dear Samm, She`s on MSM which I believe is the purified form of DMSO. She
also gets alfalfa, glucosamine/chondroitin, and Rimadyl 2 times a day now.
Brooks suggests lots more alfalfa, so we`ll up that.
She is such a loving little sweetie, she`s my baby replacer! I hate to have
her hurting. But, unlike my poor daddy, (who suffered terribly for 15 years
with worn out knees, which the dumbdocs didn`t fix properly,) I can at least
send my Pug back Home, whereas my dad just had to suffer. Thank the Good
Lord, he died last year.
There are much worse things than death...after all, it is just a doorway!

Marsha, I wonder if DMSO would help with that? I've been reading
everything I can find about it lately. It is supposed to help with
arthritis, gout, sports injuries and many other ailments. I understand that
dysplasia is mechanical, but DMSO might help with the resulting muscle spams,
etc.

Re: CS helps my dog

1999-07-04 Thread BROOKS BRADLEY
Hello Marsha.
I happened across your p.s. in a message you sent a lady
about her pug dog.
About 15 years ago my wife ( an avid dog lover, with too many around to
count) came across a very simple protocol which has yielded splendid results in
cases of hip dysplasia. It consists of administering alfalfa tablets twice
daily (after stabilization, once daily is sufficient) in the amount of a minimum
of four tablets for dogs 4 to 10 lbs, increasing by 50 mg for each 5 pounds of
weight to a maximum of 12 (50 mg) tablets total. You can give more, as alfalfa
is totally non-toxic. Alfalfa contains some rather complicated alkaloids that
have a remarkable effect on dysplasia in dogsalso for acute pain-related
complications of the articulating joints..in human beings.
We have used this protocol on experimental human volunteers with,
sometimes, remarkable response. NOTHING we have evaluated in the last 10 years
has even approached this protocol..in effectivenessor economy.
I believe you will be more than pleased with the result, if you
employ this on your beloved dog.
Our first case, many years ago, involved a beloved German
Sheppard male who was requiring 250 mg of Butylzolidone, daily, just for
sufficient relief to escape constant first-order pain. Additionally, he could
not stand without initial assistance. Within three days he became approximately
75% pain-free. Within 5 days he was gaining his feet unaided and was totally
pain-free. However, any time he went more than three days without alfalfa some
of his discomfort did return. He lived another 5 glorious years (he was 12 at
the time this treatment was begun), dying of natural causes at 17.
Do forgive my maudlin sentimentality, but even
the more stoic
technicians in life are sometimes moved by unfettered altruism.
Sincerely, Brooks.

Dear Tami, I`m so glad CS is helping! Sounds like the vet was shooting in
the dark. Phenobarb is for seizures, (which my Pug Willy has,) and Ami is an
old med for depression.
I took Prozac for depression when I was ill with Lyme. Since CS came into my
life, I have no more Lyme and no more depression or PMS either.
I do believe that CS can elevate the mood, how, who knows? Maybe by raising
endorphins, or some such thing. Oh, to be able to do proper research...
A dog doing repetitive stuff is similar to OCD in people,
obsessive-compulsive disorder, which responds to Prozac. Ergo, CS and Prozac
both work for that!
Amazing stuff!
Since to body eliminates CS easily, go ahead and keep giving her the dose.
It won`t hurt her.
You can clean her nose wrinkle and ears out with it too.
Pugs, such amazing little people in dog suits...I`ve been owned by them for
34 years now!
Good luck!
Love,
Marsha, Willy, and Tashy
PS, I sure wish CS would stop the pain of dysplastic hips...poor Tashy has a
