Apparently the reason they get away with this is because these
multifunction devices are considered 'standalone' machines. They don't
need to be connected to a PC to be useful. Just shop around for the usb
cable and chances are you will find one cheaper than the one offered at
printer sale time.

At present, the Smartboard software in my school runs only

Any help, etc.

Smartboard have a Linux version of their software available too.

Thanks,

I purchased a Chaintech Nvidia GeForce FX5200 AGP card for one of my
machines not long ago. 128MB ram and runs perfectly fine under
Ubuntu/Debian/other Linux. Only $80 at the time. It has an s-video out
so it is currently being used in my media PC with Debian installed. As
such I have been using an older 32MB Asus card in my workstation and
have been looking at getting another of these geforce cards to replace
it. I feel your 32MB graphics card limit pain.

There are probably different models floating around now but it might
give you a pricepoint to work with.

Let's keep the conversation going please. There MUST be a need for this

I'm sick of "shock horror" reaction I get when I say that I refuse to use
Photoshop, and I want to demostrate that I can do without it, or prove
that I can't do without it - one or the other!

I'd be interested in something like this as well. I have been spending
quite a bit of time using tools such as The Gimp and Inkscape and I
would be very interested to see a network of other people following a
similar path. I too also refuse to use Photoshop these days, always good
to see others doing the same. ;)

that have been sent to the spool actually get sent to the printer.

Anyone know what might be going on here?

This is probably not that helpful in fixing your problem, but I have
been having a terrible time with Feisty in general. I am running Kubuntu
and general stability for me has been woeful. I am having problems with
applications locking up and disappearing, sometimes taking a couple of
times to get them (re)started.

I am persevering to try and nut out my specific problems. So far I have
found that a newer version of K3B (compiled from source) runs a lot more
stable than the current Feisty version.

Robert, does this comment apply to data (ie internet)
or voice/mobile phones?

Data over mobile in the bush -- you must be joking!! :-)

The word has got out -- no one in the bush is changing over to NextG,
except those conned by Telstra.

Robert Thorsby

Out here in Dubbo they are trying to flog their NextG stuff pretty hard,
but it does seem to be falling on deaf ears. I am due for a phone
upgrade but I don't see anything of better value (service or phones)
than my current old Nokia. My mother-in-law received the production line
'you need to upgrade' marketing phone call, to which I advised her to
wait until the CDMA service actually does end.

I wonder how many people are going to be stuck between a rock and a hard
place when it comes time to pull the plug?

Have you tried booting with some of the various 'cheat codes' at boot
time. Some of the options can be found at the following page:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions

I had an older system that I had to disable acpi on to get to boot.

There may be some other options that get around whatever peculiar issue

I was curious as to whether it was an officially released website or

Does Vista still have a command prompt to get to? In XP a

[SLUG] Dubbo LUG

Howdy all,

This is just a message to try and get in contact with someone who posted a
message on the list back in 2005. I was just random googling and came across
a message from someone who was looking at setting up a LUG out here in Dubbo.
I have been thinking along similar lines of late.

Simon Sutton, if you are still on this list and still located in Dubbo can you
drop me a message at andrew 'at' swinndesign.com.
