[RCSE] The good ol' days.
I have several NIB HiTec receivers. The above statement really reminded me what it was like when I started in modeling. Remember the day when you only had ONE receiver and ONE airplane? Then you got a SECOND airplane and had to swap receivers! Ahhh, the good ol' days. May they never return! Man did I hate receiver swapping. Re: [RCSE] The good ol' days.
I remember. Good ol' Kraft and noisy glow planes. I owned an R/C plane before I could drive. Heck, I think my first kiss was with that old Sig Kadet. -B Bill Swingle wrote: I have several NIB HiTec receivers. The above statement really reminded me what it was like when I started in modeling. [RCSE] Ant Length
My bids are 40" and 40 1/4" on my two RCD 3800 RX's I got from DJ Aerotech (I'm trying to get enough plugs in to get a 2m Spectre--only 5,378 to go!!!) Re: [RCSE] The good ol' days.
Geez, When I started out in college flying TD gliders (built up puppies mind you) I had to swap out batteries, servos and receivers! And that was just a few years ago. Money was always (and now quite a bit) tight. I have now given in to my addiction and have 5 fully built and ready to go airplanes with all their own gear. [RCSE] Thanks for Antenna lengths
Okay, everyone, I got the antenna length (Boy, did I ever get it!), though probably you all should keep measuring your antennas and keep on posting, cause I only have about twenty replies so far, and I'd really like to do a statistical averaging of all the Hitec rx's on the exchange. I'll plot the distribution geographically and by personality type, and we can discuss it in length in a new thread :) Anyone got any clues as to why most queries get a few good responses, but a question on antenna length has got half the western hemisphere out measuring their rx antennas?? I know what Freud would say Honestly, I do really appreciate the quick responses. Thanks everyone for the info! Scobie in Seattle. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] The good ol' days.
Bill, I remember installing a servo tray which slid in a groove in both my Graupner Cirrus and my old Slope Windward. I had to switch both the Rx and servos, Thermal flying in the AM, and slope flying in the PM. Now I have alot of old servos and thank goodness I can still use them in planes. When I took my Hobie Hawk out to fly in a RE contest, the old folks said, WOW you are even flying old Kraft servos! Still looking for KPS12 and KPS18 gears to keep them running. My old KPS12s saw me through ALOT of flying as well as the 8 hour LSF slope flight. Kinda don't want to retire them as they are so faithful to me. I still have my old wideband Kraft 3 channel with Rx, as well as my first single channel galloping ghost rx with Controllaire TX. Not much in the case then as compared to nowadays. [RCSE] Vacuum bagging and leading edges.
I am having a great deal of trouble getting a decent leading edge on my vacuum bagged HLG wings. I cut the Mylar about 1/8" short of the leading edge. I apply a 1" wide strip of 1.5 oz glass cloth to the leading edge with 3M super 77 spray and then wet out the glass with a brush and scrape the excess off with a plastic card. I then wet out the glass on the Mylar and place it around the core. The Mylar is cut about 1/8" short of the leading edge. I then cover the Mylar, including the exposed leading edge with hand towel paper as a breather and the whole lot goes into the vacuum bag. When set, the leading edge seems to require a lot of sanding and I usually end up exposing the core in a number of places. I have also tried using peel ply over the exposed leading edge but this seems to leave it too dry. Next I thought I would place nothing over the exposed leading edge, instead relying on the vacuum bag to give me a nice surface. Can anyone offer me any suggestions? If I cant just sort out the leading edges I will have myself a set of beautiful wings. Michael Melbourne, Australia __ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo!
