RE: [RCSE] Left-handed
I am a lefty, and learned to fly just like everyone else (those not bi-laterally diadvantaged) The bonus is that when you learn, and it may take a little longer, you will have excellent instant rudder co-ordination skills built in,(your naturally skillful left hand).Plus the advantages in hand launch are obvious. Remember: although we may be left handed, we are the only ones in our right mind! ;-} John Derstine E-mail; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Scale Soaring: http://www.Geocities.com/~scalesoar -Original Message- From: Tord [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, March 15, 2000 3:30 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: RCSE Subject: [RCSE] Left-handed I think most txes have four modes, and if that fails just switch around the potentiometers, or their leads! Sometimes the leads just plugs into the board, sometimes you have to do some soldering! For aileron-models without rudder use mode 3 (ail+elev on left stick), for V-tails without ailerons use mode 1! Mode 4 has throttle and ailerons on left and mode 2 has rudder and throttle on left stick! I made a minor change on my tx as one of the channels was acting funny. I just switched the centre leads on the left stick, so I could use the throttle channel for the rudder, as I had no need for throttle on my glider! Re: [RCSE] Re: CG machine
For a ZAGI that is built stock, or at least still has the outside pushrods you can use a spare piece of rod slipped under the pushrods to find the ballance point. This works better than the taped pencil system as the Zagi will hang steady. michael N6CHV AMA 77292 Scobie Puchtler or Sarah Felstiner wrote: Go Bill Swingle! Nice idea! I like it! Re: [RCSE] Measuring distance
Do you have any sailors, speciffically navigators in your club? You can measure the angle between the wingtips of the model and calculate the distance. This works because you know the wingspan of the model. michael N6CHV AMA 77292 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I remember a while back some discussion on how far our sailplanes are flying. Re: [RCSE] How to disable HTML in messages.
He's not talking about listing an URL, he's talking about embedding HTML code in a e-mail message. User's with mail programs that support HTML can read and write messages with different font and paragraph formatting. It looks really good for those mail programs, but on other's that don't support HTML it looks like random garbage characters. Since not everyone has an HTML mail program, the best thing to do is turn HTML off. In Netscape: 1. Click on Edit/Preferences. 2. Make sure that "Mail Newsgroups" is expanded by clicking the "+" sign. 3. Click on Formatting. 4. Make sure that "Ask me what to do with ..." is selected. 5. Click OK. In Outlook: 1. Click on Tools/Options. 2. Click the "Mail Format" tab. 3. Make sure that "Plain Text" appears next to "Send in this message format:". If it doesn't, click the down arrow and select "Plain Text". 4. Click OK. -Ben Jill and Rick Brown wrote: Is there a problem with HTML in an e-mail. [RCSE] Fiberglass Mold Surface Coat
I would be grateful to know of a source for fiberglass mold surface coat (sometimes a special hard epoxy is applied to the surface of a fiberglass mold to improve wear and durability). [RCSE] Revisit: Radio Shack Nimh/Sirius Charger/Stylus
Someone wanted me to post after using the new batteries and charging for awhile. Its been several days now. I've now used and charged the Nimh AA (1500 mah) cells I got from Radio Shack several times (every day), and using them in my Stylus, and there are no problems. They seem to work great. They've never gotten hot. They don't even get as warm as they did (which was not that warm), when I charged them the first time (ie. from empty). I think these are great batteries, at least if you have something comparable or better than a Sirius charger. -Paul RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Trilerons for the Stork...
I may break out the Stork and examine it, and see if trilerons look like a viable option. If they improve the roll as much as they do for the Bird of Prey, then they would be a a big performance boost for the Stork. However, I may find that when I get a better launch of the Stork, I won't need it to roll as fast, and I can prepare my landings and turns more in advance. Also looking forward to seeing Jim Bacus' post on control throws for the Stork, and see if he's done any mixes that make it turn better. Anything that improves the roll of the Stork, without compromising performance, seems would be worth it. Thanks Jerry Robertson... any suggesstions would be appreciated. -Paul RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Send "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[RCSE] Club Bylaws... A Caution to all
There is buzz about how a modified TX voids insurance,,, but the one most dangerous thing that clubs do to weaken the strength of their protection is to . MAKE RULES. AMA basically started with one rule when it went into the insurance business, 'Don't fly over the pits". It was because the carrier wanted 'something'. They were warned by advisers that 'rules' can become loopholes to denying coverage. When I set up my first club, I was cautioned by my adviser at AMA to avoid club rules as they become addenums to the AMA's. Now for something completely different : I got my Kansas headed Fun One's wings leading edges shaped and ready to radio the fuse tonite. I will be joining the amazing Randy Friday nite to head toward the Lump for the weekend. I am armed with my Synergy, Twist, Freda Plane, even bought my MPX Flamingo Contest old F3B plane. I think every club should have a RULE that says the weatherofficer must make it sunny and wind-cooperative when ever there is an intention of flying. RE: [RCSE] Ultimate sailplane radio shopping [OT?]
The ultimate sailplane radio? For me it's the Airtronics Stylus. JTModels have them for $330 (transmitter only). The glider card is an additional $100 or so. I notice that many of my soaring buddies also use the JR 8103. You don't need an additional options card for the JR. I like the Stylus because it can utilize many of the aftermarket receivers that are out now. Aloha and best regards, Al Battad RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] FVK Graphite for sale
I have a nearly new, competition ready, FVK Graphite for sale. It is completely ready to fly including servos, receiver and 5 cell battery pack. It has a 3 piece wing and the V-tails unplug separately so it packs into a smaller case than most open class ships. You can see it at the F3J contest in Costa Mesa, CA this weekend. While retaining the option of using the standard factory push-pull rods to the V-tails, I installed a kevlar corded, ball-bearing raced, pull-pull system on the V-tails which helped drop the all up weight down to 59 oz. This is a serious F3J or USA TD type ship capable of (and demonstrating) 100 pt landings. It can take full pedal zooms and two man tows. It has a custom made removable nose skeg as well as a plug-in removable TE skeg so it can be used for either type competition. Also, the entire factory installed ballast tube system has been retained. Ballast slugs are included in the price and can be added in 3 oz. increments. You can find more info on the Graphite at the FVK site at: http://fvk.de/Graphite.html $1200 plus shipping I can accept Mastercard or Visa Dave Wenzlick Mesa AZ mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
