Re: [RCSE] Draw Programs
Does your question read? Are there any scoring applications that score man on man with the ability to create a matrix either seeded or random (with fewest pilot matches as possible)? I too am in a quest for same. I started to review the algorithm needed to create a random matrix taking into account, same channel cannot occur in same round or -1 + 1 round, and a pilot will fly against the same pilot the fewest times possible. It would be an interesting application that would most likely need to run for some time to test many permutations. Steve At 02:08 PM 4/10/2002 +0930, Eddie Smith wrote: I have a couple of programmes that can do a draw of sorts for a MOM group scored contest but I have yet to see one that works to my satisfaction. The main problem seems to be that they do a random draw which isn't what you want. They produce a draw that flys some guys against others too many times. I'm running our ORAM contest this weekend and would like to get a better draw without the need to shuffle some names in heats to reduce this problem. Does anyone on this group have a programme running on a PC that will do this, and if so can I get a copy of it. Eddie the Eagle in Sunny South Australia. If you use the =concatenate(a1,,b1) equation in cell c1 this will give you th ecomma the easy way then just click the lower right hand side of the cell can drag to the bottom of the file. [RCSE] Re: HIGHLY MODIFIED AQUILA
Skip, Yes I enjoyed this one and I remember everything about the Miller Mods. Dan was the first to tell me about them and I see your back up Aguila in the AMA Museum fairly often. It needs some TLC on the sagging covering. If it is still flyable, think about using it in next years Wood Crafters event, I'm sure the Museum will let you borrow it for a couple of days. You might enjoy the event's laid back approach I have dreamed up after all your successful years of intense competition. Do you remember the FAI F3B Warm Up I put on in Fort Wayne, September 1979, the year the Sagitta was introduced. It is one of my better memories and I have to bore everyone with it. As you may remember, Lee had you and Tim flying the proto type Sagittas at the 1979 LSF Tournament at Lewis Lockport College, Joliet, IL. This was the Midwest's first exposure to F3B type speed runs (most hated it) and Lee was expecting his new Sagitta design to run away with the speed event, it didn't, I cleaned everyone's clock with my own design and that's when he decided to try again. He sent Sagitta kits to many pilots including Dwight Holly and Don Edburg with the stipulation they show up at my event. Lee turned my Midwest F3B Warm up into a major event, because all you guys showed up to bury my Osprey. As it turned out, I buried my Osprey in a practice speed run Friday before the contest during the practice session (can't repeat here what Lee had to say about that), however, the fuse and tail were still operable and so I slapped on a set of BOT wings that night and won the two day event (can't repeat what Lee had to say about that either). You and Don Edburg ended the event hand launching your Sagittas, it's a great hobby. Nothing would please me more than you winning the Worlds in Finland. As you may remember, the Aquila won the first World Soaring Championship in South Africa in 1977.The same model also won the Standard Class and Overall Champion at the Nationals in California that same year. The big deal at the time ...The Miller Mod, which certainly did enhance all characteristics of a typical amazing Renaud(Airtronics) design. It was touted by my competitors as highly modified , yet it amounted to me simply sheeting 1/16th of the first 3 of the wing(d tube) ,carving a bit of entry into the airfoil, a glass fuselage, and a slightly changed Rudder design. Lee, Dan(Pruss) and I certainly chuckled about all the highly modified Aquila talk...I know they are still amused. All my models, which were built by me from kits , had the glass fuselage. I was asked, and of course accepted the honor of donating this winning model to the Smithsonian Air and Space Musem.in Washington D.C.and the backup was donated ( when Lee sadly passed away )to the Lee Renaud Memorial Library at the AMA National Museum in Muncie. So one can actually see hem;( I think the one in DC was taken down as school kids had peppered the Monokote with rubber bands and paper clips, but i'm sure it still around). Yes they all had the Miller Mod, were highly modified, and had glass fuselages.I know they were available to everyone. Now are they Nostalgia legal...don't know...but that's what I flew...oops, had releasable ,capture tow hooks too! Looking forward to Findland. Cheers, skip - Original Message - From: Ray Hayes. I can't remember of a glass fuse being produced by Airtronics (Lee Renaud) for the Aquila kit. The larger Aquila Grande had a glass fuse in the kit box. Anyone have factual testimony that Lee Renauds's Aguila kit was produced with a glass fuse prior to Jan 1980. Ray Hayes RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] Draw programmes ...
--- Eddie Smith [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have a couple of programmes that can do a draw of sorts for a MOM group scored contest but I have yet to see one that works to my satisfacton. The best answer to the MOM draw problem is a modification of the Swiss System used for chess tournaments. In the first round, the pairings are made by seeding the players; thereafter, players with similar scores are paired. A good explanation is at http://www.lexicon.net/ianandjan/Ian/Chess/SwissExplanation.htm Since a sailplane contest can have flight groups of more than two flyers, the pairing system becomes a grouping system, but the basic principle can be maintained. It should be pretty easy to write a VBA program attached to an Excel spreadsheet that would do the groupings, score each round, group the next round, and so on. I haven't done it because our club doesn't do MOM, but I found that it took only a short time to write a scoring spreadsheet. Check out the Swiss rules at the above URL and give it a try. __ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! RE: [RCSE] importing airfoil coordinates into autocad
use the =concatenate(a1,,b1) equation... Maybe I'm missing something. I don't see any reason to work this hard. I simply edit the file in MS Word and save it as a text file with the SCR extension. Most files take less than a minute to edit. Bill Swingle [EMAIL PROTECTED] Janesville, CA RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
