[RCSE] 8uafs and hitec rx?
Simple radios can be decent. If it has a dual conversion receiver and nicads, you will probably always have a use for it. I have been in this hobby since 1984 and I keep messing around with simple airplanes and radios, whether I also have a contest setup at the time or not. A Hitec 3 channel with a 555 RX is probably perfectly adequate. I have several Vision 4 channels, but they aren't made anymore. Besides, which tx would you rather drop when you hurl an hlg and slip on the wet grass! BTW, all those bells and whistles are distracting! If you must keep up with the Joneses, please ignore the above. P.S. which glider? RE: [RCSE] Bored power pilots?
If you want to learn to use every possible control ALL the time, learn to fly a heli. Heli's don't fly, they beat the air into submission. Bob Rice Rocky Mountain Soaring Assn. Re: [RCSE] Bored power pilots?
There has been several posts on how flying sailplanes can help you become a better pilot. I couldn't agree more. However if you want to become one of the elite pilots you MUST learn to use the rudder (on full house ships of course). Uncouple the aileron mix and go for it. I took me about a year to become proficient (knowing which direction to push rudder while inverted without thinking too much about it). Once you start using your left thumb, you feel like you don't have full control when you switch back to coupled ailerons. Don't believe me, then give it a try. [RCSE] 8uafs and hitec rx?
please pardon my newbie-ness and feel free to respond to me directly instead of clogging up the list, but i've got a question. i've just finished my first glider (and first r/c plane in general), and have recently been looking for a radio to stick in it. i've had enough people tell me not to play around with a simple radio and just get a decent one right off the bat that i've decided to find a used 8uafs (or version thereof) and just wait a bit longer while i get together the added dough. i've heard lots of good things about the hitec Super Slim 8 receiver and wanted to double check that that receiver works well with the 8uafs tx. anyone care to confirm that for me? thanks a bunch. brian = .. .. .. __ Do You Yahoo!? [RCSE] Mounting servos
Gidday all, Thanks for all the replys to my query, I received 5 in the first 1/2 hour and to date 18 hours later, the number of replies is now 23. Thank you all for your thoughts and time. I have the JR servos, and in the past have used a local bond called urethane bond which remains flexible and is foam friendly. However as I had other work to do on the Cross-tail Eraser, I put out the query. I have decide to go Eric Farmers way which is as follows:- Glue a patch of carbon bidirectional cloth onto the top skin (with resin... this will be permanant). Use either foam safe CA or some 5min to glue the servo directly to this. Be sure you rough up the servo case first to get it something to hold on to. The foam safe CA is not to keep from eating the foam in the wing, because rohacell is CA friendly, but rather because it is somewhat more flexible than regular CA and can be broken away to remove the servo. Same with the 5 min. Use only a small dot of adhesive right in the center of the servo to hold it in place. This will be plenty strong enough for flight loads (My F3B and slope racers are done this way), but will be easily removed in case of maintenance. Thank you Eric. Regards, John Ensoll. [RCSE] Corel 7 help! / Corsairs and thanks...
Does anyone have a Corel Photopaint 7 disk #1 ? I lost disk #1 and lost the program when my HD crashed in April and haven't been able to reload the program. Corel only supports the past 2 versions, so I am screwed.. I really need to edit some photos for the web site. Soaring content: I also have about 5 Corsair Blem kits at $20.00 off the normal price! The blems are minor and will only add about 20 minutes to the normal building time. Email for more info. Thanks for the bungee orders, I am now up to speed on bungees and histarts and have worked out the kinks in the supply line!
