[RCSE] Profili Version 2.03b
Hi, guys you all. I'm pleased to relay a message by Dr. Stefano Duranti on his new revision 2.03b of PROFILI 2, with the announcement of the big future developments. TNK. Ciao from Italy. Tullio. Tullio Bonfiglio [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://space.virgilio.it/ocapofer -Original Message- From: Stefano Duranti [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2002 11:51 PM Today has been released a new version of Profili, 2.03b. You can find it as usually in the 'Last version' section of the web site : http://utenti.lycos.it/profili2 This version fixes some problems in raster file importing (signaled by Ing. Tullio Bonfiglio) and in the Cm scale of polar graphs (signaled by Ing. Giuseppe Ghisleri). There are some minor adjustments too, but no new features. Actually I'm working on version 2.10 development. The big version jump arises from a DB scheme modification in this new release. But the upgrade will self-convert the old DB to the new one during the first execution of Profili 2.10. I modified the DB scheme because of the introduction of new polar analysis criteria. With version 2.10 you'll be able to: - Compute polars for airfoils with a turbolator - Compute polars for airfoils with flap deflection, thickness-camber-nose-tail modification, without having to add them to the archive - To have a greater elasticity in polars drawings. You'll be able to draw on the same graph any airfoil at any Re with any modification, to have a better way to directly compare different cases of study, according to your own criteria (not only the preconfigured type 1-2-3). I hope this version will be released before January 2003. Apparently to spray with Imron you need a positive pressure suit with air blown in from fan outside the spray booth. Del K1UHF Everything below 50MHz is D.C. !!! It cost me about $85 to get the paint, primer and mask. I bought a gun at Harbor Freight for $50 and already had a small compressor. I put on a pretty thin layer of primer and wet sand off most of it. The can says that it can be painted without sanding and very soon after priming. I like the other way of letting the primer cure and then sanding it down for a good smooth base. Then paint is put on at pretty high pressure and very thin coats spaced 10 minutes. This stuff is very durable and has a terrific shine. It is very resistant to mild solvents. I tried to repaint one fuse and could not get it off with MEK or acetone. The repaint job was because I used a Preval sprayer, didnot sand the primer, put on too much and general lack of experience. It was a bear to sand off! The repaint job was on a Compulsion fuse. The primer and paint added less than 12 grams. I should add that the nose was a bit denser white than the tail as I was trying for light weight and the paint was a bit transparent. Everyone who has seen it thought it looked quite nice. Do not use this stuff without a good filter mask but that is easy if you buy a disposable type as they are cheap and will last for many planes. I easily got enough paint and primer for eight fusalages. Hope this helps, Jim MacLean Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Re: [RCSE] AM Radio Questions
NO, AM radios are not shifted, AM uses Amplitude Modulation. The shift in FM is due to the binary encoding used for the pulses. An FM signal in our world is represented by two frequencies. A carrier on the primary frequency, and a second frequency shifted by some small amount. The proimarry carrier represents one binary state, the shifted freq represents the other. If the second freq is higher than the promary, it is POS shift, and if lower, NEG. I hope this is understandable. BTW: In a properly, ideal state, AM R/C signals use NO carrier for one binary state, and a urst of carrier for the other. THis is one reason that FM is less prone to interferrence, it has a constant signal to 'capture't the receiver while AM has periods of NO signal carrier which allow interferring signals to penetrate. .bc([EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.widomaker.com/~conk Williamsburg, VA 23185 On Thu, 21 Nov 2002, Ryan Flowers wrote: Are AM radios Pos/Neg shifted like FM radios are? Re: [RCSE] Paint information. Safety cautions!
Jason, Guys, Thanks for the great info. This is a great resource, I love starting these things, maybe I can start the 7037 has a nasty stall thread again:) Seriously, I checked the MSDS for PPG Concept and it looks like wonderful stuff, ought to mix it in my coffee. Are they hiding the nasties in the MSDSs for the hardener/reducer? I agree, this is great info. I'm getting ready to paint a wing. I've got a shelf full of Krylon, but I was thinking of trying Imron or PPG. I'll think I'll just stick to Krylon. -Ben At 08:37 AM 11/22/2002 -0600, Lee Estingoy wrote: Jason, Guys, Thanks for the great info. Re: [RCSE] Virus??
That mail's got a couple of small files in it. It was a virus but it got nailed in the outbound mail server by an anti-virus program. These programs work centrally and when they find one of these viral attachments they replace it with a non-program, a placeholder called "DELETED0.TXT" (and DELETED1.TXT and so on if there are multiple attachments). Since the other attachment is MSNCONST.TXT this might be the site that removed it or something like that. This is great news. It means that those irritating EMail viruses are finally getting choked off at their source. Martin Usher
RE: [RCSE] Spray paint question
A word of moderation here, Imron, besides it's toxicity, is yesterdays technology, there is no good reason to use it to begin with. DuPont 50P Polyacryl Anhydride Enamel emulates the qualities of Emron without the isocyanates. However, I have sprayed Emron using a good commercial quality dual charcoal filterd mask, in a well ventilated area. Several times, I live and breathe. Commercial Spray booths use a laminar flow to get the fumes out quickly. and if nothing else, when you spray any paint at home you need to get the fumes and overspray away from you. Spraying for a living every day or exposing your self to large amounts of poisonous substances for extended periods is the danger. The modern two part acrylic enamels, Dupont Centari, for example, used for auto painting are much safer than emron and produce an equally fine finish ( as far as models are concerned). You can add flex additives, gloss additives, hardeners and the versitility is far superior to emron. This doesn't mean you don't need to use a good respirator and air ventilation. If you don't have proper equipment, don't spray the auto paints, If you have the equipment and know how, (big if) by using reasonable precautions you can safely paint your airplane. If you live in a housing devlopement, with no opportunity to exhaust fumes from your basement witout polluting your neighbors, and you can't spray in your driveway, take your prepped part to a body shop. Usually if you look around you will find a quality craftsman who will take an interest in your project, do a good job and not over charge you. The new auto paints require expensive, appropriate equipment and a good knowledge of both technical skills and application. I use a $400 HVLP gun driven by an 80 gallon 5 HP two stage air compressor with Devilbis water filtration system. Total start up cost about $2000.00. How many models do you want to paint? As an aside, Heinz Weisenbhueller who refinishes full scale sailplanes with his MH Soaring business, uses a high end auto aclylic enamel, PPG Delstar, not gel coat as many suppose. It flexes better, and does not yellow over time. There are a lot of other ways to get a great finish also, as in using a base coat clear coat, but that is another treatise. Only a fresh air source with a complete 100% suit. Charcoal/vapor respirators are not worth anything when dealing with this type of stuff. A lot of paint is NOT to be messed with! Any type of sprayed paint you should use a full face respirator at the minium, even with water based acrylics. Isocyanide type paints such as Imron, PPG enamels, Awlgrip, etc...all should be avoided at 100% cost! There is NO REASON to be using this stuff for RC use. Not for power, not for soaring, etc. In general we do not have the safety equipment to even handle the raw materials. All the time we hear of full size airplane and car restorers dying within hours of using the stuff. It is nothing to be messed with at all. Now, if you want to see some rather mild paints, try some of the single part linear polyurethanes for the boating industry. Still nasty stuff, but in general much milder than the isocyanides.
