Subject: [RCSE] Ventus 2AX..No, its not a woody, But...

Late Last Fall,
John Derstine xmade a basic public information announcement (PIA)
that he was gonna to be building an order for Lett Models around the
Ventus 2 AX.
A fully molded, 5 meter aero tow type aircraft, with a finished cockpit,
retract and so forth..

Having Played last year at a couple of aero tow get togethers,
and having promised my buds that I would consider a Big Scale Airplane,
it seemed to me that the money that was being asked for this airplane,
was to say the least a great value. I think it was 1299 plus shipping.

The major motivation for this was, that I was Planning the Cross Country/
Scale Aero tow Event at the 2004 Nats this summer in Muncie.
The idea for this style of event, was for a little cross breeding so to speak.
I hear that the response thus far has been great by the way!

Well, It arrived today !
There is very little wood in this molded beauty, the quality is about what
you would expect from the Europeans , and appears to be very complete.
I am not too worried about the wait time on this order; hell I have waited
over a year for my last competition ship, and NO, it is not a woody either.
I have a CD that came in the box, probably has the instructions on it.. a
full sheet of really neat Decals, and what appears to be a complete as far
as I can tell hardware package. This thing has spoilers, flaps, mid
aileron, tip aileron, tow , gear, Elevator, and rudder...WOW !!
It looks like the wing assembles just like the Full Scale version. Way
Kool !!

Check out Johns Web site http://www.scalesoaring.net/EMM/rand.htm to check
this and other products !

For the first time, in a LONG while I have a non-competition airplane, that
without the help of Viagria, Calsis, or a hand full of girly pictures,
Well lets just say I got one !!!

Jack

[RCSE] Re: Soaring V1 #3288

2004-02-19 Thread Joshua
There's a very easy way to solve this! When I used to race sailboats,
during the
fleet champs we had the same number of heats as there were skippers.
Each heat the
skippers.crew changed boats. In the end, every skipper/crew sailed every
boat for 1
heat. On the flip side not all pilots trust their planes in the hands of
other
pilots...Just my 1 1/2 cents worth, keep the change. :)

It doesn't take much math to rate plane and pilot separately in that case.
Normalize weather by having each round flown at the same time (like HLG).
Two prizes: one for best plane, one for best pilot. I'd guess that they'll
go to the same guy a lot of the time, but I'd like to not have to guess.

Tommy- My charger's clips used to heat up too. I removed the wire, cut
it and back to get some nice clean material and soldered it on. Now
they don't heat up at all.

Back to winch batteries, I just bought a Maxx 29 marine deep cycle

about 45 minutes ago and it is still pumping at a 10 a/h rate. The
clips are pretty warm to the touch. Is this normal for a first
charge on this type of battery?

I thought the airplane vs. pilot debate was settled years
ago when Joe Wurts won the 2-Meter Class at Visalia two
years in a row flying a foamie.

Yes and probably more entertaining.

This woodie/mouldie rant thing makes me think of what it would be like to
put a Humidifier and a Dehumidifier in the same room and watch them
fight.and it would be just as productive to boot.

[RCSE] UPDATE!! CVRC RES Bent Wing Contest May 12

2004-02-19 Thread Larry Taylor
Hi RES Pilots!!!
There has been a change on the RES Contest!! We are going to allow ALL
building materials in a RES Sailplane, and foam is included now!!!
Their has been so many improvements it's hard to limit Who,What,How a
sailplane is made up of. Why hold back builders. We are changing with the
times and opening this Bent Wing Contest up.** Unlimited**
The board members met last night, and the Bent Wing was kicked around and
was voted on to change our format and just open it up to 3 functions only.
(Rudder,Elevator, and Spoiler) No building / construction limits.
This is the same rule that we have had for the Fall Festival all along. So
here is the link that will take you to the entry form and provide you with
the details .http://www.cvrcsoaring.com/bent_wing.htm

We are also having an Electric contest after the Bent Wing on Saturday May
1st. This is for speed 400 flying wing type only. This info is listed also
on the above link. There are restriction in this Event. Come fly in both, or
either one of them.

Re: [RCSE] UPDATE!! CVRC RES Bent Wing Contest May 12

2004-02-19 Thread Michael Neverdosky
Great!
I like it.

Hey, I have an idea.
What about an extra award for the highest scoring pilot/plane where the
pilot actually built the plane flown in the contest.
This would reward building without penalizing those who buy a plane
and spend their time flying instead of building.

Heck, all sailplanes are fun.
