[RCSE] Hobby Lobby sale

2005-08-25 Thread George Voss
Title: Hobby Lobby sale

Hobby Lobby is having a HUGE sale today.  Each hour has different items.  This hour they have 2M Fox slope aerobatic model for $150, and 3 cell 2100 Li-Poly for $39!  Surely someone on the list can benefit from the sail.  gv

[RCSE] Sailplanes and Stuff for sale

2005-08-25 Thread George Voss
Thermal Icon. Excellent condition. Include 4 coreless motor servos $1900

3.7M Ventus, NIB. I removed the solar film covering from one wing.
Everything else is covered. Fuse is gel coat white. $300

NIB Super V 2M. This is an oldie but a goodie. Title says it all! $550

LNIB M&M F80. The box has been opened. I'm pretty sure everything required
to build the plane is still in the box, including the instructions. $40

Cyberdyne DLG Polyhedral wing. Excellent condition. $100

SBRC ME 163 EPP Komet. This kit is similar to a DAW 163 but it can be flown
as a slope plane or a pusher electric. 40" span and weighs in at about 18
ounces. I'm in the process of recovering it so I can finish it in your
choice of colors. The plane will look new when completed. $125

SBRC TA-152. 46" span and can be flown as an electric or a slope plane.
This kit is interesting as it has an EPP fuse and wood sheeted foam wings.
I'm in the process of recovering it in a scale-like scheme. You'll need to
add decals and panel lines. Finish will be K&B paint. $125

Like new JR 8103. It still has the plastic protectors over parts of the
transmitter. This is the "H" model. $225

Jarel Aircraft Shogun partially assembled. $65

NIB Hobie Hawk. This is the uncovered version. The outer box isn't
included, but everything else is there. This is the Hobie Alter Version.
$500

Thermal Eagle, RTF. This is the Airtronics version and it's in very good
condition. $450

Victory C, RTF including RX. This plane is like new only being flown a few
times. $700

Great Planes Lancair fiberglass fuse. I planned on making this into a large
slope plane, but I lost interest. It's already painted blue and white as
shown on Tower's website. $50

Due to health issues, I'm SLOW at shipping. If you purchase something from
me, you will get it, but it takes me a while to pack things up and get them
to FedEx, so please BE PATIENT!

If this is the Space I think it is, I had it built for him when I
imported HKM products. Daryl can confirm if it is the same one... With
the specific custom spar and skin layups, it would have had a street
value of about $1500.00. (Airframe only). Stabs also are a special layup
with carbon skins. There is not another one like it in the world.
An unbelievable value at the price Daryl is asking.
Heck if I had a winch, I would buy it back. ;-)

Very cool! Good effort! That graph at the end is really informative.
Looks like you had the boomer over Elsinore then a nice cruise over the

[RCSE] Davenport F3F 4th Sunday Racing

2005-08-25 Thread rich.speroni

Hello F3F Aspirants,

This Sunday August 28th at Davenport, I'll be hosting a F3F race. Pilots
meeting at 11:30 AM.

The forecast looks good for west winds 15-20.

All are welcome. AMA Insurance is required.

Davenport site is approximately 15 miles north of Santa Cruz. It's located
across from BigCreek Lumber Yard on Hwy 1. Look for the green wind sock on
your left and the lumber yard on your right. I don't have the key to the big
gate, so park on Hwy. 1.

If you plan on attending e-mail me to pre-register with your AMA number and
frequency.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Saturday morning, I will give a final update.

[RCSE] Re: RCM

2005-08-25 Thread David Register
I'm also among the many who regret the passing of RCM. One of my friends
used to be a copy editor there, way back when it was just getting
started out in San Dimas. It was a great mag, good coverage, good
columns and excellent photo and art work at a time when good color copy
was a rarity in modeling mags.

However, things change. We get the magazines we pay for and printed
media is becoming more expensive all the time. Internet publishing seems
to be on the rise. RCSD's existing format is of that nature.

I would encourage those who feel something's missing to contribute
articles, how-to's, etc. to RCSD and any other format they would like to
support. These publications are for modelers and by modelers. And that
means US!

I've written for mags and done newsletters for over 25 years - wrote
some 60+ columns and articles for RCSD since 1998. In that time I've
found the quickest way to deal with someone who has a storng opinion
about what I've written is to comment:

"That's an interesting way to look at it. Why don't you write it up as
an article and submit it to " (fill in the publication name).

Most folks bail out at that point. I've only found two cases where that
dialog led to an article or series of articles. Both led to topics that
were very worthwhile.

My point is simply that we all have something to contribute and that
responsibility doesn't lie exclusively with those who do columns for
magazines. If you've got a good idea (and we all do), write it up and
submit it. It takes a certain amount of sweat equity to do that but it's
the only way ideas circulate. Nats coverage on RCSE, for instance, was
way above the call of duty for those guys who did it. Their contribution
is an example of folks putting in the effort to keep all of us informed.
That type of effort is the best way to keep publishing (internet or
otherwise) healthy.

Momma used to say that if you weren't willing to do something about it,
you had no right to complain. Publications REALLY need your input and
any of the ones I've known would love to have the problem of too much
stuff to print.

Sad to see RCM go (and Model Builder before that). We all have a
responsibility to share what we've learned, either at the field, in our
newsletters and publications, or on the net. Thanks to all the folks at
these mags who did so much for all of us. Hopefully a new round of
contributors using new publication formats will continue that legacy.

OK Lee, you better watch out when I have a camera in hand...

(I don't know why, but they asked Jimbo and I to take our hats off while
getting photographed, I see no one else got asked to do it that way. It
might be some sort of initiation thing or something...) 8-)

Thanks to all the JR people that put this disk together, wonderful
