RE: [RCSE] Skip Miller Injured
OK US Team had a better day yesterday I hope to find time for a report later. Skip was not injured it was Joes right hand. His hand was hit by the line because he is now using the right hand to align the line while he is pulling back with the left. No major damage and he is fine today. He thinks the line broke because it had been nicked by his jacket previously. The loss of time was a hurt for Skip and the team. We have a lot to make up after 2 chute failures and a line break Jim Jim Monaco US F3J Team Manager 2006 From: James V. [RCSE] US F3J Team Update
Im writing this on Thursday morning. We had an excellent day on Wednesday. The senior pilots are getting into the groove. All the senior flights were excellent. Joe had a hectic day between launching for everyone and running back to the hangar to repair his light model that was badly damaged in a midair. He test flew the repair this morning and it looks pretty good. Tom has been very consistent and is maintaining his position in the top 10. Joe and Skip have some work to do to make it into the top 12, but there are plenty of rounds left. Skip had some odd radio issues all day yesterday. He flet that his plane was not responding well at distance and several flights were very interesting, but he did a great job making them work. He ultimately determined that his PCM receiver was masking poor range. He swapped in an FM receiver and immediately discovered terrible range. After doubling the antenna his range was back and he flight tested the plane early in the morning and it appears all is well for today. The juniors have been flying awesome the last few rounds. They had been chasing the Germans and finally today moved into the lead. All of our junior pilots are currently in the top 12 with 2 rounds to go. Now we need to protect the lead. We will have 3 rounds of seniors today and then restart the juniors at the end of the day. Go USA! Jim Jim Monaco US F3J Team Manager 2006 From: James V. RE: [RCSE] F3J WC Update
Team position is determined after the preliminaries - the flyoff scores do not count toward the team score. The juniors are doing VERY well and still have 2 flights that we hope to get in tomorrow. We are in the protect the lead mode and will be quite conservative. We had a good day for the seniors as well. Joe and Tom both swapped around. Joe put a hurting on some teams in some very light air. Tom put in some solid flights to hold his position and Skip had a very tough round in the rain where no-one made their times, but he was a little short of the winner of the round. We expect a bunch of rain again tomorrow so we have no idea how many more rounds we might get in.
