Re: [RCSE] Cool club meeting ideas
Tom You might check the phone book for a raptor rehab organization in your area. We invite one to our club every other year. They bring a Eagle, owls, falcons, and vultures and make a small presentation. The club makes a donation to their organization and they have some really neat t-shirts to sell to support their organization. It is a great meeting to invite wives, grandkids, etc. Everyone has a good time. --- In [EMAIL PROTECTED], Thomas Koszuta [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Gents, I am looking for ideas for meeting activities. Re: [RCSE] Removing wing servo...
Noel Since you are talking about the center section of a Graphite and hot melt glue just use your heat gun on the back side and soften the glue from the wing. At some point the glue will release all at once or you can peel the glue away a little at a time. Either way the heat guns heat will get you farther and safer than cutting. Edwin Wilson --- In [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello all, Any tips on how to gently remove a servo that's been hot-glue'd into the center section of a Graphite? The thin glass/sheeted center-section seems very fragile and the previous owner used a TON of hot glue on this flap servo that needs replacing... *sigh* Since it's not glued to plastic or carbon, I'm afraid to do any shock-load type trick to break the servo loose... Re: [RCSE] Tulsoar
Our club has grown with the addition of electric flyers. A few rules but electrics to the right of the winch and the sailplanes landing to the left with no problems. Being in a public park we do not allow hotliners but 3Ds and speed 400 stuff dominate. Several electric guys are now flying gliders also after seeing the fun we were having. I never understood why the power club did not want these guys around. I'll take all I can. Park useage is key with us protecting our flying site. More the merrier. Everyone is out to just have fun. Re: [RCSE] OVSS #1, aka Full Moon I Beat Gordy!
What Gordy did not tell you is while he was scratching to stay in the air in the last round I went my own way and specked out my Evolution and buried the whole group by at least a full minute. Ed Wilson --- In [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Even more amazing, I not only beat Gordy but I won today! Rudy was deadly today! I hung out at the top or top three by a couple of points today for all the rounds, but the final round was a 15 min and the air went pretty stale. I was on winch #1 and decided to go for my own air instead of covering the pack... I came off the line and immediatley turned and burned down wind where I was sure there would be fabulous air which would end up crushing the rest of the guys, but boy was I surprised to find myself immediately at about 100' and scratching...scratching for over 12mins. I worked a fart from TJ (current LSF Pres, or at least I think it was from his vicinity) across the field while everyone one else sucked on each other's airI got so far down and away that my Pike was barely visible and not much higher than the treetops... Needless to say it was time to try to limp back to the landing spot, and I did, nearly taking off the heads of most of the pilots and landing thru the backside of the landing area for about 80points, well that is if it counted :-) Rudy? He just plain out flew us. Congrats, and good luck tomorrow, I'll be on my way to Denver for the F3J in the Rockies thing this coming weekend. A good time had by all, and wood to boot! Big atta boy to Ed Wilson who has been in a dry spell for about 15 years wood wize in Unlimited...he beat me too :-) And congrats to one of our newbieswho managed an average of 2:50mins each round of 10, but when faced with a 15, got his Spirit Elite together and his thumb working for 15mins and a 44 landing, to finish off his flight time LSF tasks for LSF2! [RCSE] Favorite Plane
My favorite plane is the stretched Sagitta 900 I built from scratch the winter of 82. With a ten foot wingspan and a fuselage streached 4 inches I won all my Level 5 contest with this plane. I retired the plane and my son brought it back out to trophey at a Nat's. Again it was retired to only be brought out of retirement to do my 8 hour flight at Brookville in November of 99. That was 18 years of hard service. A close second is the BOT ARF I used to place 5h at this years Nat's. For $150 plane it beat a whole bunch of more expensive planes. This plane was passed along to a beginner who flies it almost daily and has used it to complete both level 1 and 2 in the LSF task. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Mid-South
The guys of NASF deserve a big hand for the fine job they did this past weekend in hosting their first Mid-South. We could have done with a little less wind but at least it did not rain. The food Saturday night was fantastic. A thank you goes out to the vendors for the donations to the contest. Many people do not realize a contest of this size would be nearly impossible without the donations. Those of you that missed this weekend missed out on a good contest. Congrads go out to Steve Siebenaler for his overall win for the weekend. Steve had to fly and place well in four events to achieve this win.
