I went to Turkey with Larry a few weeks ago and I liked everyone I met. Of course, most of them were modelers and whats not to like about a model airplane geek ? :) The point is, they were friendly, treated me with respect, and really made a positive impression. I look forward to going back this summer and seeing my new friends. >From what I saw, the world championships will be a very well organized event that will leave a positive impression on a lot of people from around the world. The local Istanbul club (Soarist) isn't just showing off their organizational skills, they are showing off their country. Checkout soarist.com for nice soaring pics with background music. Outstanding USA down-home backwoods comment there John. I would be willing to bet the kind folks who live in the beautiful country of Turkey would still take the high road and thrust their hand out if you actually went there... John, You are totally off base here! As there are good and bad Christians, there are good and bad Muslims. I don't feel the need to educate you here, but I can tell you that Turkey is the one European Country that I could and would live if I left the US. Theirs is a secular Muslim Majority Country that also happens to be democratic and very Freedom loving. Not to mention their long time alliance with the US and 2 major US military bases on their soil. Larry I went to the site and donated $20.00, super easy and quick using paypal. I would have loved to buy a hat, but the artwork has the crescent/star symbol incorporated in the design, and I would no sooner wear that than I would walk around sporting a swastika or a hammer and sickle. Mike, Well said. In fact I thought the F3J Worlds was about getting together with flyers all around the world for a good time flying toy airplanes and leaving politics to the politicians. I do respect John's opinion but I do not agree with it. See Ya, Pat McCleave Wichita, KS [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Okay guys we can't let our Team down. I understand they are considerably short of their goals and needed money. We need to do something. This is a very expensive proposition. OUR Team is very strong and has a very high likelihood of winning it all. I'm putting up $100 right now. I would like to see at least 50 of our great Soaring folks match this by the end of the weekend. Anything would help but let's shoot for $100. Just reply to the this email (to the group) with your name and amount. I know we can do it. Darwin N. Barrie Chandler AZ $100 RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] F3J Fundraiser Contest this weekend??
Yes, it is this weekend at Poway. I'll be armed with my freshly acquired Sharon, and probably setting it up early in the morning before the contest. This will be my first Unlimited TD plane flying on 2.4. No pin baby, yeah. BTW, the SC2 contest is on Sunday at the Poway thermal field. Hi Guys, Thanks to all who responded to my question. I guess Mark Taylor of f3x.com fame is the team manager and is the one to send the money to. BTW, if there is anyone else out there wanting to pass on their copy of the 3R's of Soaring for the same kind of deal, I have a long list of people who would be willing to donate funds to the F3J team to get a copy.
