[RCSE] New videos / RCGroups withdrawals
Just resubbed to RCSE after a while off. Am going through major RCGroups withdrawals (they're down for maintenance I guess). Anyways, have some new videos from the past couple days that I've just uploaded, and figured I'd share here since I can't in my normal place. All are from in around Santa Barbara, CA. The first is urban thermal SAL flying, the latter two are slope soaring. **Broadband recommended** 1) The Alula by Richter R/C. Filmed outside the home of the kitter. (30MB, Quicktime .MOV) http://www.sbslopers.org/movies/alula/alula.mov 2) Moth:Duet. Two local Moth flyers today at our beach site. (24MB, Quicktime .MOV) http://www.sbslopers.org/movies/ellwood/moth_duet.mov 3) Big Wind Day. miniWeasel and Weasel Pro in 25mph+ up in the mountains. (24MB, Quicktime .MOV) http://www.sbslopers.org/movies/the_ruins/brush_your_weasel_off.mov Thanks, and enjoy, Steve RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Weasels in 25mph winds? Oh, the horror! When are you guys from SB gonna start flying some REAL airplanes! ;) Nice job on the video and editing as usual Steve. Re: [RCSE] New videos / RCGroups withdrawals
I don't tend to hang out over there because everyone seems to be here, (Stuart mentioned I should try again, but it doesn't seem to be working). Maybe I'll try again, but the last time I looked the R/C soaring group was kinda sparse. Anyway, I have never seen your videos before so thanks for sharing. Re: [RCSE] New videos / RCGroups withdrawals
I really enjoy RCgroups, for a number of reasons. Primarily, it is great to be able to post pictures along with your posts. Secondly, I can let it slide for a number of days and then catch up very easily in just a few minutes. It seems somehow less tedious than going through all of the RCSE emails that accumulate over the course of a week. RCgroups has really turned into a great resource for builders especially, as new methods and techniques can be displayed visually for us to try. There's a lot of scratch building, especially with composites, that's going on that just isn't talked about on the exchange. If you're just interested in soaring chit-chat, the exchange is still the best...if you have more specialized interests, especially building and DLG, RCgroups is the way to go. For a good example, check out our Supergee thread, part I and II over there once they're done with their maintenance. brian James V. Re: [RCSE] New videos / RCGroups withdrawals
I agree, the web forums can be really nice for sharing multimedia, I belong to several corvette forums that go absolutely nuts with that stuff. The custom Avatars, the custom signatures, making music videos of almost every event, tons of pictures and photoshop(chopped) images, etc... I'll try looking at rcgroups again, I have been there several times before just to read. It hasn't grabbed me yet. At 11:27 AM 2/27/2005, you wrote: I really enjoy RCgroups, for a number of reasons. RE: [RCSE] New videos / RCGroups withdrawals
My own primary soaring interest is slope. The slope forum on R/C Groups is hands down the best on the net. Lot's of new posts everyday, with detailed build threads, construction techniques, photos, videos, site information, etc. There are more pictures and fresh slope related content posted on R/C Groups in a few days than there is in all of the combined R/C printed magazines in a year. The HLG forum is also very good, as is the composites forum. For those into electrics, there are also some very nice electric's forums. It's a terrific resource. It's also been down for two days, and I'm jonesing! -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Re: [RCSE] New videos / RCGroups withdrawals
I agree that the slope forum is really nice. I go there when the wind blows from the one precise direction locally that permits slope flying (NNW) and I get eager to build a slope plane. But the the wind dies or switches direction and I go back to TD planes. So just a shout out for the 'Sailplane Talk', which seems like a general sailplane related forum, much like RCSE, and then there is 'Thermal Talk', which is mostly beginners talking about recent builds. But like I said to Mr. Bacus, I am seeing some household names showing up in both forums. The threads on the Allegro-Lite builds are excellent. The new group for technical detail seems to be the Composites Fabrication forum... Mr. Barnes and Mr. Drela are frequent contributors also. Too bad they are down for maintenance right now. I have been getting a half-hearted fix by visiting the ad-infested RCUniverse. Brian Courtice wrote: My own primary soaring interest is slope. RE: [RCSE] New videos / RCGroups withdrawals
Not all of my focus is R/C related. I like to hang out at Anantech.com which is a computer forum. I *rolled my own computer system and it is running great (built July 2004). I do a little video/photo editing, burn DVDs, and game a little. I also enjoy RCGroups and been hanging at the Electric and 3D forums - when they are up. RCUniverse is the last resort but there is the Crash Pictures and Discussion forum which is pretty interesting and sometimes funny.
