[RCSE] Thanks CASL

2008-02-18 Thread Daryl Perkins
If you weren't there, you missed a great contest. It was well run, and
the winch and line changes they made really made the difference. Darwin
told me unofficially there were only 3 line breaks all weekend. The
winches were quite zippy, but not ludicrously powerful. If they hadn't
told us they had resisted them down slightly, we never would have known.
Things went so smoothly, we even got to fly an extra round on Sat. Nice
job CASL, and thanks I do hope other clubs follow suit on the winch
power thing...

On Saturday, the air was wonderfully buoyant. I'll bet almost everyone
made their times - unless you did something really stupid... (Sorry JE)
;-) . Sunday, severe clear, thermals were definitely stronger, but there
were a few holes out there, costing a few their times.

Congrats to all the winners. Jason was on fire, nailing the luck dot on
his last shot to cement the win. Andreas exhibited the landing style
that has obviously been honed in a non-skeg competition format (CalTech
actually sent an agent to check on unusual seismic activity) ;-). Mike S
was consistently knocking down the landing points - he's so consistent.
There was a way cool flyoff for 3rd between he and Cody. Side by side
histart launches for a five minute max plus landing on an AMA tape. Mike
shot a (I think) 2 under 96 to Cody's on time 92, taking the bronze.
Nice job Mike It was fun to watch.

Joe Nave in RES. He's an animal with that thing. Yeah, Gordy took Woody.
(I know, I know)... Kornburg in 2M.

Congrats again to all the top guys. Special congrats to CASL for doing a
great job!

See ya'll next year!!!

2005-02-08 Thread Marc Gellart
As has become a February tradition, I wish to thank CASL, Darwin, Mark, and
all those good guys and gals who ran the contest and activities. Got to
spend the day with my Mom on Friday and then had two great days of flying
after having a hell of a lot of off time from a really crappy winter here in
the midwest. After not getting to fly since November it felt so good to
stretch the wings. That first round had some rust on it, but all the things
that needed to work did and in the end I was happy with my outcome in Queen
Creek. It was great to see friends from the west and the OVSS crowd had a
good showing.

Thanks again and we will be looking forward to seeing alot of you folks in
Muncie for the Nats.

Marc

Oh and on this subject, I would like to add that while perusing the score
sheet after day one, I was going down the placings and kind of speaking the
names loud enough to be heard. There was this guy with a camera taking
pictures of the scoreboard with his significant other behind me. I spoke
Daryl, John Fruge - whoever that is, Me, etc. and low and behold, it was
John right behind me that said, that's me One of those foot in mouth
moments I thought I would share.

Great job by the way John. Hope to see you and your nephew out at other
contests throughout the year.

eating on the way out of town on Thursday I got food poisoning. (10 hours

good and 10 minutes later we trekked on to the hotel. I want to thank my
girlfriend Jennifer for driving the last 8 hours of the trip in. The high
light of the event for me was after a great first day I was 2nd place on
the score sheet. Knowing it would not last I did not loose much sleep over it.
I did not make any good landings the 2nd day and missed my time on the
last round by 4 minutes and ended up in 61st place.
Perry did quite well. My choice of plane for him was not the best and he
did great with what he had.
On the way back up on this rollercoaster weekend we ended up doing great
on the raffle.

I just want to say thanks again for a great event. Everyone we talked with
was very helpful and nice. We hope to be back next year.

I too would like to express my gratitude to the CASL club for hosting
 another fine event.

I had a great time, and am looking forward to next year's contest.

By the way, the new retrievers seemed to work very well. Nice work guys.

It was very nice to see some of the midwest glider guiders come out of the
cold to have some fun. Steve Siebenauler (sp?), Mark Gellart, and ah rats
I can't remember his name, flying the pretty manits... :) Just a
few of
the guys that I met at last year's Nats. There were others too, but
unfortunately, my memory is full of too much non-essential info to recall
 their names.

See you all soon I hope.

2004-02-11 Thread Charlie Miller
Greetings!
Just started settling in here and thinking of the great weekend at the SWC.
I want to thank the CASL members for all their hard work to bring us a great
SWC this year. I felt the contest was run smooth and the field set up very
comfortable.
It reminded me of the old field, very much the same feel.

The Slow Stick combat was great to watch. I am sure that event will grow
rapidly!

Congrads to all that placed. A job well done considering the landing
conditions on Saturday. I really don't think many, if any made all their
landings all weekend.

Mother nature did get take a stab at us on Sunday.
For those who got hit by the big sink cycle in the last round, I feel for
ya! Been there, done that!

Thanks again CASL! I WILL see you next year!
Cheers
Charlie

Good Evening!

I want to take this time to thank Dave Wenzlick and the whole CASL club for
another great contest!
Even with some early winch problems, They still got it handled! My hats off
to you guys!

The conditions were by far the most challenging at the SWC I have
encountered in the 4 years I have attended!

I would like to congratulate all the pilots for their individual
achievements! We all place differently each year we attend. But it's all
about our efforts and focus that make this contest a great event!

Also thanks to Dave Darling for the glass of wine at the BBQ! It hit the
spot Dave! Cheers!

This is a really great contest!! Trust me!
We drove through snow for 150 miles to get there!
I would drive through 150 miles of cow pies to get there next year!

Right now I think I will have a brew in my new Mug!

Cheers
Charlie

P.S. I think your right about that other Joe!
