Fw: gtk theme selector without function anymore???

That's what I tried before, yes, but it didn't work. At least theme
selector showed me the available themes, but no matter which one I
selected, it didn't work. And by the way, it really worked after I tried
the GTK bundle with installer, but I deleted that stuff again. Now, I am
using the offline package that was propagated on and on in the support
list. But I still cannot change the theme. I also realized, that the
conversation windows is no longer resizable horizontally. Please help, my
eyes hurt because of the default theme, really.

At this time, it is a manual process - we don't include any extra
themes in the runtime, so you'd have to manually install the theme and
activate it by editing the appropriate gtkrc file.

File transfer and Re: Ticket #3959

2010-03-19 Thread Dagobert Duck
The file transfer isn't working for me anyway somehow for instance
(icq-protocol). Always get that cairo error and then pidgin crashes. Tried
almost everything. So better FIX this, before thinking about extending this
basic feature. By the way, zipping/unzipping takes time? What do you want to
transfer via AIM?? Gigabytes of data??? I mean, it would probably work, but
therefor you should definitely use something else.

This issue is classed as a new feature request, not a bug. The best way
of getting new features added is to ask a friend who writes open source
software to contribute the necessary code.

Description

Before switching to pidgin, i used to send a lot of folders to friends
over AIM 6.x. Please add the option of sending not just singular files,
but folders of files. Will save a lot of time unzipping//zipping, and
receiving.

Jabber through http/port 80???

2010-03-18 Thread Dagobert Duck
Hey folks,

now I got a question: The proxy server I have to connect through, only allows
me to connect over http. Only port 80 is open, connections to hosts behind the
proxy, that offer SSL connection (port 443) are also possible.
Does anybody know, how I could connect to a Jabber Server, -better- Gtalk I
already tried jabber80.com, but that cr.. didn't work at all.
(By the way: I could also connect to login.icq.com on port 5190, but only with
use ssl; although this is not the typical ssl port on icq, it would work just
fine - tested it.)

Thanks in advance,

  This should work:

1. Open Pidgin.2. Accounts Manage Accounts Add... button.3. In Protocol
drop-down list, select Google Talk. Enter your username in

the username and password in their respective fields.4. Go to the Advanced tab.
Check Force old (port 5223) SSL. In theConnect port field, type 443.
Connect server as talk.google.com

5. In the Proxy tab, make sure you have Gnome Proxy Settings selected.6..
You're done.

Re: privacy blocking list

2010-03-12 Thread Dagobert Duck
I think U're german, so I'll answer in german.
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/ThirdPartyPlugins#SecurityandPrivacy) gegen
Spam-bots begegnen.
