Add signature

2011-06-28 Thread Bill Spikowski
Is there an extension that allows a user to quickly add a pre-defined signature
after drafting an e-mail?

The extension I was using doesn't work in SM 2.1.

I don't usually want to use a signature, so SM's built-in functionality doesn't
help me. And when I DO want a signature, it might be one of several different
ones, depending on whether the email is business, personal, etc.

Right no I'm back to the old method of opening a text file and using copy-paste

You can add a customizable toolbar icon. When you click it, it initiates

Bill,

You can create several signature files and select distinct files for each mail
account.

You can have text only files and HTML files for any signature.

You can change sig files at any time for specific messages.

This is where SeaMonkey Composer comes in very handy.

I use a single e-mail account for personal mail, business mail, and various
nonprofit activities -- that's why I'm looking for a solution that doesn't
restrict me to a single signature for that account.

How would I change sig files for particular messages, given the
one-sig-per-account limitation?

I'm OK with cut-and-paste for now -- I just remembered that someone had written
a really simple extension that worked perfectly for me, but apparently hasn't
updated it for SM 2.n. I'll keep my eye on the Seamonkey add-on page!

Sadly we do not yet possess the ability to digitally sign our installer.
It needs a few things to accomplish.

1) a machine much more secure than our current machines, and dedicated
to just signing.
2) a digital certificate to use for signing, from a valid certificate
authority.

We have neither of those at this time, we do hope to be in a position to
get those. But until then all our release builds are unsigned.

Bookmarks Don't scroll with Synaptics Trackpad

2011-06-28 Thread Jim Taylor
After upgrading to SeaMonkey 2.1 I can no longer scroll bookmarks and
history on my HP dv7 laptop using the Synaptics Track Pad scrolling.
Track Pad scrolling works everywhere else that I can find except in
Bookmarks and History. I was at the latest Synaptics driver on the HP
site (15.1.6.64) but I found a later one (v15_2_20_C) on the Synaptics
site so upgraded to it. No help. If I connect a real mouse with a
middle scroll wheel the bookmarks and history will scroll using the
wheel, but they won't scroll using the Track Pad Scroll. The top and
bottom autoascroll arrows work on Bookmarks, and I can click and drag
the scroll bar in history, but the emulated middle mouse scroll does
not work in Bookmarks and History. My OS is 64 bit Windows Home
Premium SP1 with all the OS and driver updates. This worked in the
previous versions of SeaMonkey and just stopped working after the 2.1
upgrade.

It's what I was able to come up with in the short time I had. The

Well, if you can point me to a copy of the current art, I can see what I

Incidentally, I changed my setup to small icons and now the Sync icon

Its your browser doing that.
You can change its settings to download all of them if you want,
but thats a lot of downloading.

Yes, The 500 is a suggested limit to prevent downloading all the old
ones.
You've just added this group I'm guessing.

NO NO ... I have this group for years the problem is not 500, it's
61911 The problem is ..This group is working very well every days
But sometimes i got this stupid situation.

I've heard of issues with the counts forcing the browser to re-set the
last header you received, hence asking the question.

Could it be that you are shutting down before SM is fully closed?

No, i do File-Exit of *all* running programs before shunting down my pc.

SM can take a dozen seconds to close, even after the GUI disappears from
your screen as it cleans cookies and cache.

What extension were you using? Did you remove it or disable it?

I can't remember the name -- I just upgraded from version 1.1.18
and it
didn't carry forward. The extension was pretty simple; I right-clicked
where I wanted a signature to appear, then selected the correct one
for
that message.

Don't know if this was what you had and don't know if it will work in
SM2.1:

This is not the extension I was using, but it sounds great. At present
it won't install on SM 2.1. I tried a different Thunderbird extension
earlier that also wouldn't install.

Thanks for your help -- it sounds like other people have the same need
as I do!

Bill,

You can create several signature files and select distinct files for
each mail
account.

You can have text only files and HTML files for any signature.

You can change sig files at any time for specific messages.

This is where SeaMonkey Composer comes in very handy.

I use a single e-mail account for personal mail, business mail, and
various nonprofit activities -- that's why I'm looking for a solution
that doesn't restrict me to a single signature for that account.

How would I change sig files for particular messages, given the
one-sig-per-account limitation?

I'm OK with cut-and-paste for now -- I just remembered that someone had
written a really simple extension that worked perfectly for me, but
apparently hasn't updated it for SM 2.n. I'll keep my eye on the
Seamonkey add-on page!

Create a new folder in your Profile Folder and name it Sigs.
Create all the signature files you might want to use, name each file
something you will remember, and save these files in the Sig Folder.

For each mail account click Settings and on the main page look for
Attach the signature from a file instead.

Click Choose and navigate to your profile folder and the Sig Folder.
Now select the Signature File you wish to use.

You can use this trick for any outgoing message you need, you can also
use it for Replies as well.

If you use a text editor to create the files be sure you save it as
.txt. If you use Composer to create a HTML file be sure it is saves
as .HTML.

SeaMonkey 2.2 Beta 2 Release -- Introduces New Features

2011-06-28 Thread Justin Wood (Callek)
SeaMonkey 2.2 Beta 2 is available for free download [1] now in 14
languages and makes a list of new functionality available to a wider
testing audience for the first time. Please note that this pre-release
version is still intended for testers only and might still show some
problems in everyday use. As always, we appreciate any feedback you may
have and encourage users to help us by filing bugs.

This version is built on top of Gecko 5 and features the following new
improvements:

CSS Animations [2] are now supported.
Improved canvas, JavaScript, memory, and networking performance.
Improved standards support for HTML5, XHR, MathML, SMIL, and canvas.
Improved spell checking for some locales.
WebGL content can no longer load cross-domain textures. [3]
Background tabs have setTimeout and setInterval clamped to 1000ms
to improve performance. [4]

Major changes since 2.2b1:
Bundled extensions/add-ons (ChatZilla, DOM Inspector and JavaScript
Debugger) are no longer optional in SeaMonkey's windows installer. (Bug
666518).
Archive options can now be changed from the Copies Folders
Account Settings pane (Bug 607295).

The changes page [5] lists a more detailed overview of new features and
fixes relative to our last stable release, SeaMonkey 2.1. [6]

We welcome any and all discussions on this beta on our newsgroups, or
you can even file a bug if you find one. Be sure to check our Known
Issues prior to filing bugs.

SeaMonkey 2.2 Beta 2 is available for free download on the SeaMonkey
website. Once you have downloaded and installed this release, we'd like
to encourage you to get involved in discussing and reporting problems as
well as further improving the product.

Thanks for testing and helping us to make SeaMonkey even better!

Unless its install.rdf file is fixed, Signature Switch will likely NOT

You lost me. TB5? We want it to work with SM2.1. The install.rdf file
fix is pretty simple. No? Add SM 2.1 and it's all good to go.
