A quick test in Safe Mode with all add-ons disabled and cookie prefs set
to slut mode (accept everything from everyone) was unhelpful -- same issue.

Are there other things in the profile that could be relevant?

Just because the error message blames cookie handling I'm not assuming
it's a cookie issue. Lots of programmers write error-handling routines
that blame the wrong party.

No, but I have tried disabling AdBlock Plus everywhere, and it didn't
help. On the other hand, I also have ABP installed on IE, with the same
subscriptions, and the page works, so that shouldn't be the problem.

The problem with troubleshooting a third-party cookie issue (if that's
indeed what it is -- I've seen lots of error messages over the years
that had nothing to do with the problem) is that I have no idea what
site needs to set/read the cookie(s). So I can't go into the Data

As a reply to EVERYONE who has "suggested" solutions comprised of BUYING a new

An older retired person on a fixed income cannot just go out and buy a compuker

Life is not always so simpleI figured this thing out myself, as per usual,

Thanks to that individual. It IS working now.

I have inquired about BUYING Windows 10 for my system which has a Celeron D 3.33

I'm with you. Twenty years into fixed income retirement and well into 9th
decade. I have one XP SP3 and one Win 7 going strong. I note that you said you

I don't know where to get and/or apply SP3.

If I get it from Microsoft, won't they zap my XP so I can't use it ? I trust
Microsoft about as far as I could throw Bill Gates.

Then - even if I could get SP3 - would it make my XP unstable.

Consider that I have a stable system now and if it goes TU, then I am screwed.
I have the system disks and would have to wipe my Hard Drive and start
COMPLETELY over !

Long story short - Is it safe to apply SP3 ?
 From where ?

I don't see any problem with applying SP3 but you need to do a system backup
first in case of a screwup.

I had that problem. Here is my work-around:

1. Using the Password Exporter extension in SeaMonkey 2.26.1, I
exported all my passwords to a CSV file.

2. I deleted all my passwords.

3. I deleted my master password.

4. I removed the Remember Passwords extension.

5. I updated to SeaMonkey 2.35 (the latest version available when I
finally decided to abandon 2.26.1).

6. Using the Password Exporter extension in SeaMonkey 2.35, I imported
my passwords from the CSV file.

7. I set my master password.

If you do not already have Password Exporter (from
)
installed, you will have to download it and convert it for SeaMonkey
compatibility at before
installing it. Whenever I update SeaMonkey, I copy all my profiles into
my directory; this can be very important if I have to
revert back to a prior version of SeaMonkey.

Before updating, change the master password to blank (Edit > Preferences

set it again after upgrading.

Also disable any password-related add-ons; "Remember Passwords" in
particular is known to cause problems in newer versions of SeaMonkey,
but it's possible that other add-ons do too.

As a reply to EVERYONE who has "suggested" solutions comprised of
BUYING a new
computer and employing Windows 10 - Most of you seem to think that
money just
grows in my garden like weeds.

An older retired person on a fixed income cannot just go out and buy
a compuker
that has Windows 10 on it !

Life is not always so simpleI figured this thing out myself, as
per usual,
and just press Alt-F4 rapidly and often and THAT works to bug out of
whatever
this problem is.

One of you gave me a link to a MalewareBytes that DOES work in
Windows XP.
Thanks to that individual. It IS working now.

I have inquired about BUYING Windows 10 for my system which has a
Celeron D 3.33
GHz CPU with 2 GB of Memory and 2 TB of HD. I am told - DON'T DO IT
! May run
but would have problems with 'Drivers'.
I don't know enough to spend $$ to try it and don't trust
Salespeople to not
screw me into the ground.

Thanks to those who actually helped me.

I'm with you. Twenty years into fixed income retirement and well into
9th
decade. I have one XP SP3 and one Win 7 going strong. I note that you
said you
were on XP SP2. Is there any reason you can apply the free upgrade to
XP SP3?

I don't know where to get and/or apply SP3.

If I get it from Microsoft, won't they zap my XP so I can't use it ? I
trust Microsoft about as far as I could throw Bill Gates.

Then - even if I could get SP3 - would it make my XP unstable.

Consider that I have a stable system now and if it goes TU, then I am
screwed. I have the system disks and would have to wipe my Hard Drive
and start COMPLETELY over !

Long story short - Is it safe to apply SP3 ?
From where ?

UPGRADING IS ALWAYS A RISK - So i would not push you to upgrade.
Normally SP3 is installed by the windows-update mechanism.
It you have disabled it, it's normal that the SP3 is not installed on
your pc.
I did not beleive that your problem "call 800" you encounter will be
corrected by applying the SP3 patch.
However if you insist on installing SP3 - go to:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/learn-how-to-install-windows-xp-service-pack-3-sp3

and examine seriously the first steps "Before you begin"

After you apply SP3, you will have a lot of security patches to catch up
on. When I wanted to do that, I installed Belarc Advisor to get the
list of patches I needed, and it gave links to each one.

Passwords do not transfer when updating

2015-11-22 Thread Norman Fuchs
I have been running SM 2.26.1 for some time, and I thought it would be a
good thing to update to a recent version. However, when I do so, I lose
all my passwords. Well, not really lose -- if I revert to 2.26.1, they
are all there. They just don't show up after I update. That's true no
matter if I update to 2.35, 2.38 or 2.39. I've tried to use Mozbackup,
but the same thing happens there. I've also used Password Exporter, but
with the same result, even though it reports that all passwords were
imported into the new version.

Would anyone please help me?

I don't see any problem with applying SP3 but you need to do a system backup
first in case of a screwup.

This happens only with SeaMonkey.

Ray, in the HTML for that page, in one of the iframes you have ...

"service/fr/code3day/index.php?code=1950" and it works, whilst in the
other you have ...

"service/300x250/index.php?code=1950&type=city&lang=fr" and it doesn't work!

The "&type=city&lang=fr" doesn't seem to make much difference if I cut
it from one iframe and add it to the other, so, not that I know a heck
of a lot about HTML, but I'd be looking at the "fr/code3day" of the
first iframe verses "300x250" of the second iframe.

Or, maybe, in the following "allowtransparency" lines, the 'width="225"
height="150"' verses 'width="300" height="250"'. Nope! Cutting and
Pasting from 1 to 2 didn't help.

Sorry.

Hmm!! I note Ralph says it works for him on his WOW64 SM 2.38. I'm on
the same set-up and mine doesn't work!!
