it's still on VMWare and slow (plus have to disable Avast to get any
progress at all) - I'll move it (the XP VM) over to VirtualBox nex week
& will get a significant performance boost.

I got the 'can't play' warning when I brought SM2.45 back up - in
about:config I enabled 'media.mediasource.webm.enabled;true', cleared
cookies, cache/all and tried again and it worked. Give that a try in 2.40.

not really. the mail will be generated by the hardware i use. Of course that
mail could be changed, but only if the manufacturer will change the mail - or
if I will hack it. But hoever - these solutions are not ... feasible.

I saved a mail and opened it by a text editor.
However - I found no "hided" url masking in the mail. all links are directing
to the original address - or they are similar to the first sample you tested.
So I am in doubt, if the scam detections comes from there - or if it's caused
by another reason. I'd like to post a complete mail body here, but I will not
do that because of safety reasons.
Would we have other possibilities to check out the reason for the scam marking?
Could I debug that somehow? Or would it be possible to add or activate some
debug informations?

Thanks - Uwe.

Yes. The difference is the second case displays a URL, but the first
does not. A user seeing "Fritz" knows it's not a URL and will never be
fooled into thinking that's the target, but a user seeing
"http://www.microsoft.com; may be fooled into thinking he's already
seeing the target. So only the second can be a scam.

Look under the section "Still Having Problems?" There you can download

Okay, I just wanted to clarify, because Mozilla doesn't offer plugins,
and doesn't have a plugins site. :)

The page at Tools-->Add-ons_Manager-->Plugins lists the plugins you have
already installed.

Plugins are offered by third-parties, and are not installed by SeaMonkey.

OK, so I think you're saying the "Update Now" button is supposed to take
you to the 3rd party site, instead of showing a "blocked" message, and
further to this, that plugins are not to be confused with 'extensions',
which can be installed from addons.mozilla.org.

Java is installed separately from SeaMonkey, and SeaMonkey doesn't
install it on your computer. Installing Java is something you would
have
to do yourself. Assuming you're on Windows, you should see in the
Windows Control Panel, and be able to uninstall it from there.

I don't think you should worry about any sites requiring Java. I
uninstalled it around 10 years ago, and haven't had a need for it.
The
websites you visit may be different, but it's a very safe assumption
that you won't need it.

Chris, if you were to go to a site which "required" Java to function
the
way the developers wanted it to work, would you likely get some
message
asking you to turn on ("Click Here") Java for "best User
interaction"??

Or would you just get a basically blank/black page??

Depends on what the page/app is and how it's built.

Set the Java plugin to "ask to activate" and go here to see what
happens:

On my Win7 installation.

No problems (well, almost!!). Ed.

I went into Edit->Tools->Add-ons Manager and changed Java 8U101 from
"Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate". Re-booted SM just in case,
clicked on your link, Ed, and went straight there.

Was it supposed to ask me??

(The "well, almost" I included up above was because, when I first went
to the Add-ons Manager, Java was listed towards the top of that screen,
whereas when I returned to check, Java was listed towards the bottom of
that screen, in amongst those Add-ons which don't work or which SM
thinks I should update!)

With Java disabled you shoud get this:

*After* I posted my last response, I checked again and noticed the
"Activate Java(TM) Platform SE 8 U" line so I clicked the icon, and that
portion of the screen went blank except for a line in the top left which
had an picture and the text "Error - Click for details".

When I clicked, I got a seperate, little, Java window which had ...
Quote
Java Plug-in 11.101.2.13
Using JRE version 1.8.0_101-b13 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = C:\Users\Daniel
Unquote

then what looks like a listing of command keys. (c: clear console
window, f: finalize objects on finalization queue, g: garbage
collect, etc., etc.)

But I don't get to see your pocketwatch, Ed.

Don't know what to say about that. WFM.

The sender => I am.
Can I change the content of this mail? => No.

For better understanding:

If the link 'https://nobody.nowhere.org' directs to
'https://nobody.nowhere.org', it will be ok. But if there's a link like
following:
...composed by your http://dyn.dns.org;>Fritz!Box
it will be not ok and thats the reason for scam marking?

Hi Paul,

sorry, I don't understand.
The problem I have, is that I get a daily report from my internet gateway - a
Fritz!Box by AVM. For sending these push mails I use the address of my internet
provider - and for receiving I have an address of my preferred e-mail provider.
The sending e-mail-address is used by a secure connection and well verified.
So the sender address matches with the first gateway and the receiver should be
also correct. What's the problem that leads to a SCAM marking in that case?

I prefer also a bit more security, but that's too much.
Uwe.
So ask the sender to stop showing an url adress and if you click on it,
you will be directed to ANOTHER url adress.

You must be directed on the url adress that is shown .. NOT on another one.

I can see where some users would want to whitelist trusted senders, and
I can also see where other users would not want to do so. Personally, I
prefer to have more info, so I would let SM caution me before I click. YMMV.
