By go away meaning?

1) You don't have Events & Tasks in the Menu bar.
2) You don't see it in the Add-ons Manager.
3) Have Events & Tasks in the Menu bar, but didn't select it and
then select Calendar.

4) Other

You may want to peruse the Known Issues section in the release
notes on Lightning and other distributed extensions not appearing.

Walt - it is #1 and #3.

I did look at 'Known Issues' and did not see any reference there
unless it was glaring right at me and I could not see it... which
is possible, for sure.

TIA - bo1953

Bo1953, try this:
*-in the browser, type in the address bar: 'about:config' & see
the tab contents change to a list of text lines
*-in the search frame above the listings, copy/paste this setting
name:

'extensions.installedDistroAddon.{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}'
and press 'Enter'

*-in the tab, see only a line which begins with what you searched for
*-right-click on that entry, and select 'Reset' from the menu
*-open the Mail window, verify 'Events and Tasks' menu item is
visible

*-Click on Events and Tasks, then select 'Calendar' from the menu
*-Verify the calendar appears in a new tab in the Mail window

Since the first release where Lightning was included be default, I
occasionally have issues when installing a newer version of SM,
where the extension checker plugin doesn't like Lightning so wants
to disable/remove it.  When I reset that setting, all is well again.

RicklesP,

Thank you for the recommendation.

That line of code does not exist (that I can find) in my system, so
this has left me perplexed.

Shall I re-install SM?

TIA - bo1953

(picking the first of your four replies ...) In SeaMonkey, select
Tools -> Add-on Manager and, in the left hand column of that screen,
select 'Extensions'

Is Chatzilla showing?? Is it enabled (i.e. is the Disable button
showing)??

Daniel,

Yes, chatzilla is showing and enabled.

Thank you - bo1953

So does that mean you now see the 'Events and Tasks' column in the
"Mail & News" screen??

If not, down in the bottom right of the "Mail & News" screen, do you
see a calendar with "Today Pane" and a downward arrow head?? If so,
click the arrowhead so it points up ^ .

Is your point's One and Three in your original post (above) now
working right??

What does ChatZilla have to do with the Lightning Calendar?

I still see Events and Tasks in the Menu bar of the Mail & Newsgroups
window with ChatZilla disabled.

Ah!! DOH!!

Good point, Walt! Yes, of course, when discussing the Add-ons Manager
screen, above, where I typed "Is Chatzilla showing?? Is it enabled (i.e.
is the Disable button showing)??", I really meant "Is *Lightning*
showing?? Is it enabled (i.e. is the Disable button showing)??"

Hello all - to answer a few questions...

1) Lightening is showing in 'Add0Ons Manager';

2)Now I do see "Today Pane Pane" in the lower right side of my SM 2.53.4
mail window and it appears to display fine,BUT not as a column, but no
arrowhead appears, and;

3) As for finding the string, I did not use the leading single quotes
and when hitting enter, there was nothing showing but a blank area i.e.
no strings show up - but will try again to confirm.

Thank you all for your input and assistance with this.

The "publisher is unknown" means what it says, Microsoft doesn't know
who produced it. You do and - assuming you got it from the correct
place - it is safe to install.
I read something a couple of years back about a version of Windows 10
which was "locked in" to the Microsoft Store (or whatever it is called)
and you would only be able to install products from there. If that
exists and you have such a (cheap) version of Windows then you have a
problem, but since you already have a version of Seamonkey there it
obviously worked in the past.

I don't know the cause, but while the hamburger menu does nothing in
2.49.4 or 2.49.5, it does work with 2.53.3.

It's worse than I thought: clicking an article link takes me to the article, but
at the bottom, the "read comments" button is missing, along with dozens of
pictures, links, and contact information. I don't Seamonkey has changed, as I'm
using the same 2.49.4, and my wife is experiencing the same issue on her computer,
also running 2.94.4, so apparently the NY Times has changed in the last week or
so; Chrome, however, is handling the NY Times change just fine. I'll try updating,
and hope that fixes the problem.

I am on OSX, so the window itself already displays the info that is
needlessly

repeated in this new tab bar.  I never use Tabs in Mail.

How do I make it go away?

The View options, only remove some icons from the Tab Bar, they
don't make the

bar go away.

Try this: goto Preferences -> Browser -> Tabbed Browsing, enable the
option
"Hide the tab bar when only one tab is open". It seems that this
option applies

to both browser windows and mail windows.

a-HAH!  Genius.

Thank you, Thomas H.

Did your web browser also have this problem too? I noticed it in v2.53.3
when I already told SM not to show this bar if I only have one tab.
Weird comestic bug.,

Re: The New Mail Tab Bar [in 2.49.4]

The behaviour I observe is that the View>Show/Hide menu mentions a Tabs
Toolbar which however doesn't come and go by toggling its check mark,
and isn't presented as a toolbar that can be customised through [toolbar
context menu]>Customise...

Meanwhile there's the tab bar for mail/news tabs, which as already
pointed out is controlled by the same preference as for browser tabs.

I believe that there may be bugs in this area, though maybe there is
also a theming issue ?

Additionally, feed and newsgroup messages can have different styles in a
tab than if opened in a "New Window", because the View>Feed Message Body
As>... menu item doesn't appear in a message window, but only in the
main mail/news/feeds window. Apparently the display style for a feed
message window is always the default.
