this "solution" doesn't make much sense? "1- Enter about:config" where/what
do you mean by this, enter the file? a hidded menu? maybe a console somewhere..

Reply, Reply All, and Edit as New no longer populate address fields nor body in 2.49.1

2017-11-14 Thread Dave T
I just upgraded to 2.49.1 (32 bit) on a 64 bit Windows 10 Pro machine. If I
try to reply, reply all, or edit as new any message I have received, I get a
mail compose form that is completely blank except for the subject line. The
to:, cc:, and body are completely empty. It does not matter whether I try to
reply from the context menu or from the reply (and replay all) buttons on an
open email. I've disabled all add-ons and can confirm I still have the
problem. My mail store is gmail and I am connecting through secure IMAP.

There were no errors in the install. I am reverting back 2.48 for the time

abook.mab (mozilla address book) ought to be in the profile's root.

Looks like http://seamonkey.ilias.ca/profilefaq/ covers that and more.

Why copy little pieces? I normally use a desk top at home and a laptop
on the road. The app is one tree, the profile is another tree, and the
mail files are another tree. I just copy all the trees from the desk
top to the laptop before I leave and then copy them back when I return.
I also copy all the trees to other desktops for back up. And OS/2 and
Win SM and Win Pale Moon/Foosa all use the same profile and mail files

The point is, the process of "moving to a new computer", is something I
do on a regular basis. It is not a big deal. Why does it need to be?

You need planning, especially on systems using drive letters and there
is also the problem when using different versions, especially
downgrading to an older version. This can be most obvious going from Win
to OS/2 as the OS/2 version is usually about a year out of date. The
same problem is potentially capable of happening with Foosa as it was
forked some time back.

You can change TB's language with a language pack:

I downloaded the French language pack and looked for those column names.
I found them in

So maybe you could take one of the English variant language packs, change

Ran SM and everything appears to be fine!

1. In SeaMonkey, have a look at Tools-Switch Profiles. Are there more
profiles there than you would expect?? If so, select each profile in
turn to see if they contain your missing stuff. If not, then,

2. Have a look at Local directory setting of the Server Settings for
your e-mail account, note this location. Completely close SeaMonkey and
use the Windows Find Folders and File function to search for Inbox
(without the inverted commas). If any are found, are they at the
location shown in the Local directory or elsewhere??

Report back with results!
Hey, Daniel! I only showed one profile. However, following your second
suggestion I was delighted to come up with 89 items on a search. I
managed to find the one relating to what I think is the file in question
and under profile I found a file 2qatbdob.default.
Within that file were four for my pop files. They were numbered 1
through 4. #4 was dated this past Wednesday when this mess started. I
checked its properties and it showed a little over 3MB in size.

Checking #2, dated last year had a size over 200MB.
So! If I go the #2 and check properties it says I can restore a
previous version. But #2 isn't currently running. How do I transfer
the data or tell my pc to use the earlier profile that didn't show up on

Tools-Switch Profiles check?
On the bright side I raked up 61 bags of leaves today.

safe mode

2013-10-19 Thread Dave
Last night I was downloading info from Google. At the end of my session
I went to check the weather forecast (my home page on Sea Monkey) and
was greeted with Sea Monkey starting in safe mode. Realizing that
something was amiss I ran Malwarebytes that discovered 10 suspicious
items. I had the program delete the suspect items and re-started my
computer when prompted. At that point I ran Sea Monkey
and it started in normal mode but with default settings. I set my
preferences and shut down.

This morning I went to check e-mail and discovered that
my internet mail connection was gone. I used the wizard to set up the
connection but all my sub-files are gone and the e-mails stored there.

Is there any way to recover these e-mails from the Sea Monkey
file in programs that a computer illiterate like me can accomplish?

didn't work meaning it said an error occurred try again later. Now
perhaps you guys know what you are talking about when you say there are
different versions of flashplayer and shockwave and there is one or an
old one that works with seamonkey and if I go to the adobe website I
can find it. Well I went to the adobe website and tried to download an
older version and some of these other websites that claim to allow you
to download older versions, but each time I try it says that there is a
newer version available and it links me to the newer version which
clearly doesn't work. Now I readily admit that if something on the
computer can't be done following the instructions I've been given it may
be my fault for not knowing how to fill in the gaps, or it may be the
instructions have not been idiot proofed. I am that idiot and I've
proven the instructions don't work. So if those who feel that I have
repeated this complaint that youtube is not working, for three weeks
now, there is a good reason for that. It has not been working for three
weeks and the instructions I've been given for getting it to work have
not gotten it to work. Now you can say that it is because I have not
given enough details about what I mean by not working and that is a fair
comment. What I mean is that when I go to youtube any video at all I
get the error that I should try again later. I've tried downloading
various versions of flashplayer and shockwave and they don't correct the
problem for either seamonkey or firefox. However IE is working. If I
diable the shockwave plugin or addon it tells me to check my plug in or
add before trying to run the video, and when I reenable it I get the
error message to try again later.

version 2.11 still has problems with youtube

2012-07-22 Thread Dave and Colette Hirsh
Nice to know that a new version has been released and still has problems
with youtube. Kind of frustrating. Would like to know when seamonkey
and firefox will fix the obvious. I've been using seamonkey for years
and have never had this problem till I upgraded to 2.10.

You tube not working

2012-07-17 Thread Dave and Colette Hirsh
I have recently upgraded to 2.10.1. I am using windows 7 on a pc. For
some reason we can no longer watch videos on Youtube. Is there an
addon or plug in I'm missing? If there is it is not obvious to me from
your plugin add on site. We have been using seamonkey for many years
through many upgrades, and this is the first time we have had this
problem. I tried downloading again and am still having the problem

Thanks,

youtube

2012-07-15 Thread Dave and Colette Hirsh
I guess no one uses seamonkey for videos on youtube. Kinda sad that
seamonkey with its rich history can't play videos. I feel like its 1982
all over again. If I wanted to use IE I would not be trying to use
seamonkey so that is not really helpful. Videos on firefox are not
working either.

You tube not working

2012-07-15 Thread Dave and Colette Hirsh
Nice troll, but untrue. No one??? I use YouTube without difficulty
every day in SM 2.10.1, and can't remember the last version that was
problematic. If you want someone to help you, you'll have to describe
your problem much better than this. It doesn't work just doesn't give
anyone a starting point to troubleshoot.

-- War doesn't determine who's right, just who's left. -- Paul B. Gallagher

Paul, I am not a computer expert. When I go to facebook on seamonkey or
firefox you tube doesn't work. When I go to the same site on IE and
click on the video, youtube works. I downloaded adobe flashplayer and
shockwave and then Youtube worked on seamonkey and firefox but when I
turned the computer off and then on again they no longer worked. I
admit I am not a computer expert, but I know who to click on a website
and know how to download flashplayer. If I could have figured this out
on my own I would not need you guys. And as to the way I posted, I had
posted previously with more detail and nobody answered except one person
who said that he also could not see videos on youtube with seamonkey.
If they are being blocked as someone suggested, I have no way of knowing
how it is being blocked or how to stop it from being blocked. If it is
because I don't have proper addon or extension of something else I don't
know what that it or how to get it.

I can see the mail on Yahoo's website (Ctrl+1) but not in the Seamonkey Mail
and Newsgroups window (Ctrl+2).

My wife has the same problem on her laptop with WinXP SP3 and Seamonkey.
Intermittent problem.

All mail loads instantly and reliably into the iPads.

Sent Emails

2010-12-20 Thread Dave
I am sending emails as usual, but I noticed that for the last 2 weeks
none have found their way into the Sent folder. I don't remember doing
anything different 2 weeks ago that would have stopped the flow of my
sent emails into the Sent folder.

Any ideas as to why, and what I can do to restore?

Possible to send email in the background?

Hi all,

is it possible to make Seamonkey send emails in the background rather
than having the window pop up indicating the status with the server?
This is irritating when sending large emails.

Re: Desktop search solution for Seamonkey email under Linux?

2010-08-10 Thread Dave
 Anyway, recoll
 (http://www.lesbonscomptes.com/recoll/-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recoll)
does this well. I do an advanced
search on my mailbox folder and it will pull up any messages with the
search word/phrase etc. Click on 'Preview' and it does a nice job of
just pulling up displaying that single email.

Once an email has been found in Recoll, is there any way to have it be
opened by Seamonkey to get access to attachments etc.?

I tried right-clicking and hitting Open Parent document/folder but
this just opened up a different email in KMail (even though Seamonkey
is set as my default email client).

Desktop search solution for Seamonkey email under Linux?

2010-08-03 Thread Dave
Hi group,

I am using Seamonkey 2.0.6 under openSUSE 11.2 (x64).

I tried installing Google Desktop Search (GDS) v1.2.0.0088 (latest
version downloaded today) but it doesn't index email.

Is there any way to get GDS to index my email? I found this link but
it is for Windows...:
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.seamonkey/browse_frm/thread/7b9417e2c9293439/ca4073631ffda65a?lnk=gstq=desktop+search#ca4073631ffda65a

If not, what other desktop search solution can I use? I have a lot of
email and Seamonkey's search capabilities are too limited.

Many thanks!

Seamonkey works great and then vanishes from the hard drive on next start up.

2009-10-05 Thread dave
I spent all afternoon loading up all the features of SeaMonkey to
replace my old Netscape e-mail on my Intel iMac.
And, it took over flawlessly which was a relief to me since Netscape
was playing tricks on me by shuting down during forwarding of MIT
articles to a friend. It had never done this in the many years that I
have used it..
The next day when I wanted to use SeaMonkey again it had disapeared
completely from the hard drive and was not in the trash either. All
that was left was the unresponsive icon in the dock. That to me is
spooky.
I am a little concerned about trying SeaMonkey again without knowing
how this happened and how to prevent it from happening again. Dave
