Can anyone get the Java scripts to work at support.avast.com ?

Not sure if this is 2.33 related or has been present with earlier versions.
I've been trying to use https://support.avast.com , things like the login or
register, and nothing happens.
My system is a WinXP SP3 and I've tried both Java 7.75 and 8.40. I have scripts

The Avast site shows many errors and warning via the error console which may or
may not be the problem. The site does work on my library's Win7 system for what

Possible Seamonkey bug with Logitech usb mouse

2014-06-26 Thread Robert Gault
Immediately after updating Seamonkey to 2.26.1 I have been having problems with
the LED in the mouse being turned off. This happens only when a page with much
data is being downloaded over a dial-up connection and I attempt to scroll over
the page. The vertical scrollbar will trigger this as will the wheel on the
mouse with the scrollbar most likely to kill the mouse.

This problem does not manifest with other Windows programs having scrollbars nor
with Seamonkey after page downloads are complete.
Sometimes the mouse is completely deactivated and I have to reboot my WinXP
computer.

Has this been noticed by anyone else?

Now we finally get the critical information. :)

I am running Seamonkey 2.26 on a WinXP system with Java SE 7 U55 v10.55.2.14 as

On Page Source, I do see the

NOAA_RSC_A_2014_05_07_12_02_00.mp4
is at the top of the picture which states
"No video with supported format and MIME type found".

That must mean the problem depends on the Seamonkey installation or the OS

Now this may not cause the change in drawing the maps but can anyone
tell me why this Java plugin is accepted by the new profile and not the
old? I have scripts turned on in Preferences for both profiles.

Only way to fix old profile is to disable all plugins and extensions/addons and
enable them one by one and also go through entire set of preferences in
Edit==>preferences.

It is tedious if you have lot of plugins and extensions/addons.

I had to fix my profile when i moved from 2.21==>2.22 as addon compatibility
addon which i had stopped behaving well.

I still don't know exactly what was wrong but do have a simple solution. Testing
by starting Seamonkey in "safe-mode" with all plugins deactivated did not help.
Creating a new profile worked but it is almost impossible to transfer over all
email and newsgroup accounts/messages. IMPORT from the mail & newsgroup page in
v2.22 does not work. When you use Tools/Import the "from where" page is blank
and you can't get any further.

What I did find is that making a copy of prefs.js and deleting or renaming
prefs.js has the same effect as creating a new profile with one very major
benefit. Seamonkey will crate a new prefs.js but you will still retain your
bookmarks. You will also retain your extensions and email/newsgroup accounts and
messages if you just transfer all of the user_pref("extensions and
user_pref("mail.account entries for the copy of prefs.js to the newly
created prefs.js.
Subsequent editing of preferences in the normal manner is trivial to go back to
any special features you had set previously.

So in short, the upgrade from 2.21 to 2.22 must have resulted in some
incompatibility in prefs.js which Seamonkey did not report nor auto-correct.

Re: Serious Overload Problem

2013-02-17 Thread Robert Gault
I've had a similar issue with recent versions of SeaMonkey but don't know
whether SM is causing the problem, my AT&T mailbox on Yahoo, or my dial-up
connection.

Any time the content of an email is "large" say about 100K, it is not deleted
from the Yahoo mailbox. Instead, the large email kills the flow leaving the
large email and all others on Yahoo.
Since the large email was not POPed, the next attempt at getting email just
repeats the large message.

The workaround is to manually delete large emails from Yahoo via the browser.

I suspect that this is a timing issue caused by the slow dial-up connection.

I don't have any problems on a WinXP SP3 Home system using a POP email account.
To troubleshoot your problem you will need to indicate who supplies your account
server, ex. pop.att.yahoo.com, and what your server settings are in Mail and
Newsgroups Account Settings.
You should also indicate if the account uses SSL protection and what Antivirus
program you are using. Some AV programs require that your email program not use
protection as the SSL is provided by the AV program.

I think I know what your problem is but don't have a perfect solution. Seems
like a bug in Seamonkey 2.2.

When I open web pages saved on my hard drive with Composer and right click on
links, Link Properties is grayed out. Composer is in Normal mode.
If I then go to HTML Tags mode via the menubar at the bottom of the page, right
clicking on links gives an active Link Properties. Going back to Normal mode
seems to retain the ability to get to Link Properties with a right click.

Clearly there is a problem with Seamonkey. Also switching back and forth between
Normal and Tags does not always make Link Properties available in Normal mode.
There may be other functions that don't work quite right in Composer.

Nope. The headers setting isn't set for All. It's usually set for Normal

usern...@att.net

Outgoing mail:
smtp.att.yahoo.com Port 465

One other point. Yahoo mail is using SSL security. If you have an anti-virus
program that handles email security, you must coordinate it with SeaMonkey.
For example Avast handles this on my system so SeaMonkey smtp has "use secure
authentication" unchecked and SSL/TLS selected. The Avast email shield SSL
accounts has an smtp.att.yahoo.com Port 465 SSL entry.

I have no security entries for the SeaMonkey POP server.

There ought to be nothing before an @import rule, except maybe comments,
blank lines, and other @import rules (this is a W3C requirement on the
CSS @import rule syntax). More than six hundred lines with only comments
and other @import rules in them sounds a little bizarre to me.

What theme are you using? These errors seem (IIUC) to point to a
navigator.css file in your theme, but (AFAICT) the one in my SeaMonkey
default skin (but it's a trunk build, 2.2a1pre not 2.0.13) has a
"License block" as a comment at lines 1-37, line 38 is empty, and the
three @import lines, empty line, and @namespace line which you quote are
at lines 39-43. The whole file (seen in Vim on Linux as
zipfile:/usr/local/seamonkey/omni.jar::chrome/classic/skin/classic/navigator/navigator.css)
is 716 lines long. But then the Linux default theme might be different
from the Windows default theme.

In the Modern theme's navigator.css
(zipfile:/usr/local/seamonkey/extensions/mod...@themes.mozilla.org.xpi::chrome/modern/skin/modern/navigator/navigator.css),
I see those same lines one line further down (i.e. at lines 38-44) and
the style sheet is 902 lines long. I wouldn't expect the *Modern* theme
to be very different across platforms. Yet this is the "trunk" version.

Best regards,
Tony.

Thank you Tony. You spotted the source of the problem if not the exact cause.

I'm not sure how/why this occurred but I was using Classic Default as a theme. Switching
to SeaMonkey Default removed the errors and reverting to Classic Default returned them.

I guess I'll stay with SeaMonkey Default. If this classifies as a bug, maybe you can
report it.

Can anyone get this site to work with SeaMonkey?

2011-04-02 Thread Robert Gault
Century21 has recently redone their site and claims that it is optimized for IE7 and
Firefox. I have tried the following browsers over a dial-up connection (38.6K) and can't
get it to work for searching home listings:

SeaMonkey 2.0.13 spoofing NOT Firefox 3.6.16
Firefox4
IE6
IE7
Google Chrome

There are many reported errors on the site but that can't be the problem because the site
works when I access it from my local library over a T1 line with IE7.

Is it possible that time-out problems cause a dial-up connection to fail while broad-band
works? Any other suggestions.

not work with the IE tab plug-in 1.6.9.270 either.

You haven't said what if anything happens when you to try to "continue" with the

If you have a dial-up service, the Hallmark site will be incredibly slow as
megabytes of info will be sent to your modem. It certainly will seem to be
stalled, as it did for me on dial-up. It may even be slow on broad-band systems.
Eventually I got to the page, "Preview Your Card", where there is another button
"I Approve, Continue."

You can select your default Browser Starting Page in SM2.0 as in all

SeaMonkey is closed from the new profile, your Browser Starting Page
preference is not honored the next time you start SeaMonkey. Instead,
the page on display at the time of switching profiles is used.

Now that could be considered a "feature" but to me seems a bug. If this

For this site, the icon in the bookmark side bar expands horizontally
the entire width of the bookmark side bar, about 2 inches. It does
have the correct height. It completely covers up the text for the
bookmark. It does show properly on the page tab, the address bar, and
on the Personal toolbar.

Now that you mention it... It's clearly a SeaMonkey bug, one that I
already saw with the ACID3 test page . The
problem is that in both cases the icon loaded doesn't have the usual
size of a favicon and SeaMonkey fails to limit it to 16x16 pixels in the
Bookmarks sidebar (in contrast to the location bar):

(obviously sent with wrong content type, save it to disk and view it
from there!) is 255x222 pixels,
is 150x150 pixels.

-> filed Bug 476740 (with a bit of luck it might even be fixed for SM2a3).

Is http://acid3.acidtests.org/ a valid test page? It has many many
errors when checked with the Seamonkey Error Console

MS Win98se system with SM connected to mail.rdu.bellsouth.net SMTP server.
I retrieved an email message, selected Reply all, composed my reply
and pressed Send.
The system puts up an Alert box with the message
"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded not
our customer. Please verify that your email address is correct in your
Mail Preferences and try again"

Several test mail messages to single recipients go out ok.
Powering down the modem for several minutes and a reboot of the
Operating system make no difference.

I can not send a Reply All to that message.

Are you sure all the addresses in the Reply All are valid? Some people
spoof their return addresses so if that's where you got them, one could
easily be invalid.
What happens if you use in a Reply All, only the addresses which were
successful when used singly?

Thanks,

The was discussed not too long ago. Just click on View/Use Style/None
and you will have both Username and Password fill boxes. Once logged in,
you should be able to restore the style to Default.

Week-old SM 2.0a3 was able to open the same page just fine.

Tested under Fedora FC9 and FC10, using the version from Mozilla
download, not the Fedora package (which has other issues with font
sizes).

Are you referring to the image "The Archetypal American"? If so it
works OK on my system, 1.1.14 browser in WinXP SP2 Home. The image is
cut off at the knees but if saved, looks the save in any graphics
program.

I would not say it displays ok with knees cut-off. I have the whole
picture with 1.1.13

For what it's worth, today the entire cartoon including feet was
displayed without any changes to Seamonkey or my system. At the same
time, the image was cut off losing the lower half of the shoes with
Internet Explorer.

If there is a problem here, it does not seem to be a browser problem but
a site problem. I.E. believes the gif is 333x400 and 44844 bytes while
Seamonkey has the same 333x400 but has a size of 52151 bytes.
A fresh Reload of this page in Seamonkey displayed the same cut off
image seen in I.E. but now Seamonkey believes the image has 46311 bytes.

I'm on dial-up and this page takes very long to load. It looks to me
that there is no problem with Seamonkey or I.E. for that matter but with
the site and time sharing on the many different urls. The source for the
gif is http://cagle.com/news/BLOG/BLOGgifs/AmericanArchitype.gif

a different page from the main source
 http://cagle.com/news/BLOG/
When I enter the url of the gif, it loads perfectly.

If there were a bug in Seamonkey, I'd expect the original url to load
the same wrong way each time, not change at random. As I.E. behaves as
Seamonkey in this regard, that supports a site problem.

Do you have the ability[/desire to find out] which mirror specifically
you got it from, this info would be helpful in making sure we don't have
corrupt installers hanging around somewhere.

The site I used was http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/ .
Initially I tried the link under Main Downloads

http://download.mozilla.org/?product=seamonkey-1.1.14&os=win&lang=en-US
Tried it twice and each time got the error message that the .exe file
was not a Windows installer.

Then I used the link under Windows (32bit) for the zip file.
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/1.1.14/seamonkey-1.1.14.en-US.win32.zip

I can't tell you whether these links get redirected to whatever mirror
is available or the urls go to a specific site.

maybe you got a corrupted download version, so redownload it and try again.

Same error happened with my download so I gave up and downloaded the
.zip file. That worked OK.
