Best guess is that the developers are only paying attention to Chrome,
and don't really care about other browsers, especially ones considered
to be "obsolete" like Seamonkey.

I tried going there with an untweaked profile in 2.53.3, and no success
on getting the videos to play. I also tried spoofing Chrome, and
nothing there, either.

I did find it interesting that when I right-click and select "view
image", I get a view of a control box:
https://assets.homedepot-static.com/p/static/images/inlinePlayerDwarfs.png

To me, that's something that's happening with scripting.

It's entirely possible that the site developers are making use of
features that aren't supported in Seamonkey 2.53.

Don't work for me, perhzps it's a Flash (I have not installed Adobe

Good luck with that packed JavaScript. All I can say that it is probably
related to angular. While doing angular development, now with the newer
version of angular, the project will not load in the development server
in SeaMonkey. I have to use Firefox or Chrome. Luckily the production
builds DO work from the production server, but I fear it is just a
matter of time.

I have MIXED feelings about angular. It does speed up development,
however produces what the Brits call a Dog's Breakfast of code. Being
old school, when I roll-my-own the code is much leaner and often less
chances of undesirable "side effects". But that is not the way the wind
is blowing...

There are 115 HTML errors and 75 CSS errors in that Web page.  I believe
your problem is with the Web page and not with SeaMonkey.

The phone number for Home Depot's Web site feedback is 1-800-435-4654.

These kinds of answers are really unhelpful and, personally, tick me off.

There may be tons of "errors" but fact of the matter is that Firefox,
Opera and Chrome manage to parse it correctly and work anyway. And since
Firefox and SM are both Gecko it really points to SM's issue. So at that
point you really can't blame the website, it is Seamonkey's inability to
deal with being able to properly parse what is thrown at it while others
do it no problem.

So nope, not buying it. This is a Seamonkey issue not a website issue.

I have the same "problem" as FRG - I can't connect to that website
because of geo-blocking - but you are forgetting that a large number of
POS websites use Javascript to handle the various browsers+levels and
simply don't bother with Seamonkey.
Google have a document somewhere showing how things should be done -
test for feature-support rather than browser levels - but some of their
own developers have not read that particular memo either. There have
been enough posts to this Newsgroup telling you how to spoof other
browsers on a site-by-site level, maybe that would help. Other posts to
this thread already make it clear that Javascript is being used here.

* The P in POS in this context means "piece" rather than "point".

Just that it is Gecko and works in Firefox does mean nothing. Basically most
major websites nowadays are blotad garbage. New features from current Gecko
are added all the time but it is a slow go. I use Edge Chromium as a second
browser but relevant websites not working are not really many right now.
Facebook Youtube and the other ilk are problably best viewed with a Chromium
browser anyway and apart some parts work in 2.53.3.

2.53.3 has a few more fixes. The event error rings a bell but not sure if
fixed already. Can't even connect to the mentioned websited because of geo
blocking. Welll Amazon and ebay still work well for now so dont need crappy sites.

I think HD is seriously broken in FM 2.49 and 2.5x.
As of now I can't open videos, pictures or see product preview images
in search.
The last of that broke about 2 weeks ago and the site started breaking
about 3 months ago.  It all works in FireFox bot not SM. I gave up
trying to figure out what it was.

That is my fear - that upgrading won't fix it. I feel like a trend is
developing, as every week or two or three, another site fails to work on
SM, but is fine with Chrome. This time it's the Home Depot videos, last
time it was a site that displayed for a second then went blank (but was
fine in Chrome), and before that a site where the buttons were
invisible, but displayed in Chrome. My wife uses Chrome for Facebook,
because SM makes it jump around or become sluggish.

I've been using SM since Netscape went away - 20+ years - but it seems
like it's getting creaky and tired. The email still seems good, though.

Yep, I upgraded to the latest SM. No change. It works fine in FireFox
but not Seamonkey. It's frustrating for sure. I'm in a similar boat.
Old Netscape user since 2.0, Mozilla Suite then SeaMonkey was the way to
go. But it is probably time to move on. I constantly have to move to
FireFox for websites that work there but not Seamonkey. I would move but
SM has some features and controls I really like that FF does not, or I
have not figured out in FF.

I migrated my E-mail to Thunderbird a long time ago. I prefer the SM
interface but it lacked updates and features I needed that TB had (like
the fast search indexing) and SM didn't handle my massive data base well
without frequent crashes and corruption that I am not having in TB.

The handwriting is on the wall, but I'm still fighting it.

months ago.  It all works in FireFox bot not SM. I gave up trying to figure out
what it was.

That is my fear - that upgrading won't fix it. I feel like a trend is developing,
as every week or two or three, another site fails to work on SM, but is fine with
Chrome. This time it's the Home Depot videos, last time it was a site that
displayed for a second then went blank (but was fine in Chrome), and before that a
site where the buttons were invisible, but displayed in Chrome. My wife uses
Chrome for Facebook, because SM makes it jump around or become sluggish.

I've been using SM since Netscape went away - 20+ years - but it seems like it's
getting creaky and tired. The email still seems good, though.

Try using the User Agent string from Chrome in SM.

Here's the Chrome user-agent:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML,
like Gecko) Chrome/81.0.4044.138 Safari/537.36

Can I use that directly for one of these from SM?

general.useragent.override.www.google.com;Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0;
WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0

general.useragent.extra.firefox;Firefox/43.0

I have never been able to use FF or SM at homedepot.
Always have to resort to IE11.
Oth, my FF and SM have multiple blocks that I don't want to turn off to
see if FF and SM works with homedepot.

I don't know if it the Chrome sting will work or not.
It does not work for me due to my blocks.
Try making it site specific for www.homedepot.com and let us know.

For starters: 2.49.4. Try with 2.53.2.

Can you try it with 2.49.4 and 2.53.2? I'm concerned it might be a
problem with SM setup and not the version.

That page shows about seven pages of errors of the type:

Timestamp: 5/25/2020, 8:24:59 PM
Error: UnknownError
Source File:
https://lpcdn.lpsnmedia.net/le_secure_storage/3.10.0.1-release_5033/storage.secure.min.js?loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.homedepot.com=31564604=1=prod

Line: 1

That said, the videos do play in Chrome and Firefox.

SM 2.53.2.

I think HD is seriously broken in FM 2.49 and 2.5x.
As of now I can't open videos, pictures or see product preview images in
search.
The last of that broke about 2 weeks ago and the site started breaking
about 3 months ago. It all works in FireFox bot not SM. I gave up
trying to figure out what it was.
