The Web page loads without any error message. However, I can tell
something is happening. The Stop button flashes red (meaning
something should be stoppable) and the throbber continues to bubble.
It seems that the page does not really complete its loading and
display. Selecting the Stop button does not stop what is happening.
I see this both with all my extensions enabled and with SeaMonkey in
Safe Mode.

I don't have any of that, except the first sentence. It loads, period,
in a couple of seconds. No flashing, throbbing, bubbling, nothing.

The only anomaly I note is that the status bar never says "Done," it
says "Transferring data from www.amazon.com..." But even that doesn't
flicker or anything. Let me try with AdBlock Plus disabled...

OK, same result, but this time the status bar says "Read
images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com."

Just FYI, On my Win7 SM, I cleared my Error Console and then clicked on
the amazon.com link above and checked my Error Console and scrolled down
through forty entries and the scroll bar was less than a quarter of
the way down!! So that implies about 200 errors!!

You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script

You can change a setting in about:config to make the browser wait
longer
before deciding that a script is not working. I did that, and rarely
see that error message now. The settings:
dom.max_chrome_script_run_time -> 30
dom.max_script_run_time -> 20

I tried to visit pages where I had the problem, but I cannot get it to
respond as it did. If I get another such failure I will post the exact
link. I am beginning to think it is the timing problem the way it
behaves. Thanks to all for your comments.

Here is a site where I encounter the problem:

http://www.amazon.com/Quality-Pentalobe-Screwdrivers-iPhone-MacBook/dp/B00NG2ABSU?tag=b0c55-20

The page looks normal to me. No problem loading it. The only strange
thing I noticed was that the Stop button flashed briefly when I scrolled
the page down.

OK, I guess it has more to do with the way the page is written than any
plugin or setting.

This page puts five errors, many warnings, and two message into my error
console. According to the W3C validation tools, the page has 121 HTML
errors and 521 CSS errors. You are thus afflicted with "Garbage in
equals garbage out."

It could very likely be a buggy JavaScript script. NOTE WELL:
JavaScript is NOT the same as Java.

I have the PrefBar extension installed with both the "Javascript (Tab)"
checkbox and the "Javascript" checkbox enabled. The "Javascript (Tab)"
checkbox applies only to the current tab during tabbed browsing. The
"Javascript" checkbox -- which I renamed "Overall JavaScript" applies to
the entire browser session. These make it easy for me to stop scripts
from running.

Provide a link to the page that provides that error and script file.

I don't see it in the source code of the Amazon home page, or using the
Firefox developer tools to look for the script file.

Nothing to do with Flash, it's Javascript. You can turn it off but some
sites require it to function properly.
