If you must use Chrome then use Ungoogled Chromium or Brave Browser instead -
they use the Chrome engine but they come without the Google tracking.

You should try using Waterfox as a browser. Its like Seamonkey but it is more
updated. If you need any NPAPI plugins or are suing a old computer, download
the Classic version. Otherwise, download the current version.

I would first try opening in safe mode, disabling all addons, and then
see if you could start seamonkey in normal mode. That would at least
narrow down a potential cause of your problems.

It could be a recently updated addons that's causing havoc for you.

Glen

I ran seamonkey safe mode. It crashed.
I went to google.ca typed in a search item (anything) and pressed enter.
Seamonkey crashed :p
So it cannot be any of my plugins!?
What next?

First off, you have a serious problem! From all my experience, if a
program offers a "safe mode" and it falls and crashes, that's not good.

Do you use MozBackup?
Have you scanned for viruses/malware?
Have you visited site(s) recently that may be unsafe - meaning,
potential virus/malware hosts??
Do you have any other issues operating your pc, such as opening and
using another program?

My gut instinct tells me you may have a virus or malware attacking your
pc or SM.

Let me know the answers above asap.

It took a while, but yeah, I was infected with something. Eventually AVG
fixed it up. Long story. Some sort of registry key infection.

jt,
The people who just replied to your thread were correct, there was a
malware/virus that attacked a vulnerability of SM.
Here's what I would do to make sure you're pc is clean
I'd download the latest "free" version of Malwarebytes and give your pc
a full scan and make sure everything is off of it.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Also, IMO, I'd remove AVG and install the "free" version of avast!.
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
Run a "full scan" in avast after you insure you have the latest updates,
making sure you have the program set to "auto-update."
IMO, the people at avast have done a phenomenal job with their latest
free product and have recommended their product dozens of times since a
few years ago. I've had at least 3-4 blacklisted virus/malware
installation attempts over the past few years, but avast caught each one!
I'm not sure who you use for a firewall, I personally use Zone Alarm
9.1. just because it's free, it seems to work, and only uses 4 megs
of memory.
Good luck with it...

My Seamonkey locks up all the time from ads on major websites. Only way out is
to reboot! It's happening more and more. On different machines. Can this be
fixed or do I need a new browser. PS Google Chrome has no issues with the same
sites.

The "Only way out is to reboot"? Really?
- You don't tell us what OS you are using
- You don't tell us what Seamonkey version you are using

The closest I have come to Seamonkey locking up is JavaScript loops on
some sites, eventually (20-30 secs?) Seamonkey reports that it has
caught a loop and do I want to continue waiting or abort the script.
There is another option as well, something like "don't ask in future"
and maybe you took that option. I don't know how to reverse it.

Rebooting to get out of a Seamonkey lockup has to be total overkill. I
know how to kill locked-up Windows programs and also how to kill the
Linux equivalent. I don't think I have rebooted for that reason (for
any locked-up program) for 10-15 years now.

Seamonkey crashing repeatedly on new machine

2018-01-09 Thread bitwComc
Hi, I've not seen this on my previous machine, Athlon 2X with
conventional HDD. With a newly built machine, desktop: Ryzen 1300 4
core, 16GBy ram and WD 512GBy SSD, Seamonkey crashes frequently.
comcast.net is a good example, the webpage terminates seamonkey
instantly. There's no Crash Dialog, the program simply terminates.
Another sure crash-instigator is the Fed-Ex tracking app, I cannot track
any shipment without Seamonley terminating instantly.
I've tried safe mode, comcast.net doesn't crash the program when it's
in safe mode. Attached is the clipboard from the troubleshooting .

It happens on all pages that have flash.

I think it has something to do with the Lastpass plugin, but I've replicated
the previous instructions, to remove LastPass from Seamonkey/Firefox that had
been received from Seamonkey plugin page, unfortunately Lastpass.com tries to
instal using the plugin manager as well. I was able to find a stand alone
installer, but it doesn't include seamonkey in the "Select Browser to instal
in" section.

Please advise.

Steps to reproduce? All websites, or just certain ones?

Versions of SM and Flash?
(current are 2.40, 21.0.0.213)

Have you tried clearing Flash cookies?

Click "Delete all sites." This doesn't establish a cookie policy, just
deletes existing ones. Set your policy here:

So this appears to be an old HP with an NForce 430 / 6150SE integrated
GPU. Since this driver is 175.68 and, it seems, from 2009, see if
updating to driver 309.08
(http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/82701) helps.

Based on some of the info in the crash report
(https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/c4fcf2a3-07b6-4c3d-a275-266ef2150414),
there's no specific crashing module but I do see some DirectX-related
crashing and interaction with Shell32.dll so it *could* just be
related to that old NVidia driver. Give it a shot.

- Thee Chicago Wolf [MVP]

Not sure how video would effect downloads, but I will give it a try.

Eric

Shell32.dll interacts with the GUI and other visual elements. The
shell32.dll you have on Vista was recently updated in March, 2015 for
a security issue. There's a possibility that something in that update
and SM 2.33.1 are just exposing a problem that *might* be being caused
by a DirectX problem that could be addressed in a video driver update.
Where there's DirectX there's usually something VGA related.

- Thee Chicago Wolf [MVP]

I attempted to update the drivers, using tools from Nvidia, they all
crashed, so I tried through a third party, they all say that I'm up to date.

I did notice, that only when I tried using the built in save, the
browser crashed, but when I used the Flashgot browser plugin I could
download the single file.

I wonder if it has something to do with Flashgot???

So this appears to be an old HP with an NForce 430 / 6150SE integrated
GPU. Since this driver is 175.68 and, it seems, from 2009, see if
updating to driver 309.08
(http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/82701) helps.

Based on some of the info in the crash report
(https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/c4fcf2a3-07b6-4c3d-a275-266ef2150414),
there's no specific crashing module but I do see some DirectX-related
crashing and interaction with Shell32.dll so it *could* just be
related to that old NVidia driver. Give it a shot.

Do you have some links we could test with?

I have a MacBook Pro late 2011, running ML with 16 GB of Ram. When I
upgraded to SM 2.21, it started hanging in mail. My CPU indicator would
show 100% duty cycle in one of the cores. The hang would last from seconds
to indefinite (I would kill the app). I don't know a specific thing that
causes it, but it frequently happens when I execute the "Back" command
(CMD-]). First, it ignores the command. Then I use the arrow, then the
menu. It usually hangs during that time. Sometimes it hangs on first use.

Thinking it was a bug in the latest version, I reloaded the previous version
2.20 and it did the same thing. I have the Lightening plugin for calendar app.

Jim, a while back, SeaMonkey (or, more likely, it pre-decedent Mozilla
Suite) had a problem where you were able to close the program, but it
would still be shown as running in the list of Running programs found
when you did a Ctrl-Alt-Del, so you were unable to re-start the program
until you had clicked on the name in the list of running programs and
then you clicked on Finish or Close or whatever.

You're being ab;e to start SeaMonkey the next morning might have been
because SM had naturally been closed by Windows.

Daniel
Actually, SeaMonkey had shut down and no longer appeared in the list of

to keep Flash current.

It has the feel of a memory leak as it tends to occur

Sometimes the crash reporting works and sometimes it
says that is was unable to report the crash - I have
no idea why.

Usually I can just restart SM but last night it turned
the screen black and nothing but a cold restart of my
laptop worked.

I suspect bad memory leaking in SM.2. I notice when I first open
everything Typing scrolling and such is snappy. but after a Few hours
SeaMonkey get progressively slower. Then it get so slow that I can wait
two second before a letter appears after typing. I've tried in Safe Mode
so using no extensions make no difference. If I shut down and restart
then it gets back to the snappy performance.

Hi All,

Since the 2.0.7 update my Seamonkey Browser kept crashing only on some
websites one example is at http://15seconds.com/ which uses flash
content. After disabling all my addons and plugins it no longer crashed.

So I enabled my plugins one by one and found it to be the shockwave
plugin version 9 after updating this plugin to the latest version all
work well with the flash plugin enabled.

If anyone else is having this issue make sure your adobe flash plugin is
up to date.

I'm running windows 7

On XP I don't have any crash on http://15seconds.com/ but I have
AdblockPlus...

shockwave 9?

And you should use mozilla.support.seamonkey

I had this crash with 2.0.7 another reason I went back to 2.0.6.

Re: Seamonkey Crashing

2010-09-20 Thread d...@kd4e.com

I have been seeing some crashes as well and I've tried
to keep Flash current.

It has the feel of a memory leak as it tends to occur
when I have several sites open - more than one with
streaming video and other active resources - and go
to close a video page and jump into something else.

Sometimes the crash reporting works and sometimes it
says that is was unable to report the crash - I have
no idea why.

Usually I can just restart SM but last night it turned
the screen black and nothing but a cold restart of my
laptop worked.

Today Sea Monkey all of a sudden starting crashing, will not open up
at all, and opens up a report for the crash. Where do I find the
Xpcom.xpi download, that is what it says to do to fix it.

Do you have any other issues operating your pc, such as opening and
using another program?
