There are no folders. Why not?

Maybe a new profile was created. When you lost your add-ons, did you
also lose your bookmarks and history and other personal data (passwords,
settings)?

Chris, when I clicked on the "Open Directory" button ("Open Containing
Folder" might be a FF setting!!), nothing happened, mind you I'm using
Linux OS!!

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 on x86_64; rv:14.0)
Gecko/20120715 Firefox/14.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.11

I'm in my Win7 system (SM 2.10,1, update downloaded, yet to install),
tonight, and when I clicked on the "Open Directory" button, my File
Manager opened at my profile!!

Seems there's a difference between Linux OS and Win7 OS, or is it
between 2.10.1 (works) and 2.11 (fails).

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:13.0)
Gecko/20120615 Firefox/13.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.10.1

Restarted SM to allow the update to apply:-

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:14.0)
Gecko/20120715 Firefox/14.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.11

When I clicked on the "Open Directory" button, my File Manager opened at
my profile, so this problem must be a Win <-> Linux difference!!

Do you know what add-ons you had? I maintain an inventory (a Word .doc
file) of all software I install, including the version numbers, the
dates of installation, and the sources. Specifically for extensions, I
also capture the results of using the PrefBar extension's button
Infolist, which provides a list of all extensions.

Unless you are a tester, I would question why you would use a beta
product.

Beta builds are not released with the purpose of checking whether or not
a build is "deemed okay to release as done."

Alpha = here's a preview of the work we've been doing. We still have
more to add and change.
Beta = we have all the features implemented, but there are bugs, we
wouldn't let in a final release.
Release Candidate = We consider it ready, but want to make sure.
-- Chris Ilias

Well, I like to have the new features to test out, maybe not systematically
but by using them normally. It usually worked out for me.
I don't have a full list of all the Add ons I had, but how does that help? I
can reconstruct most of them, but the files and subfolders of the Extensions
folder are also gone. But I cannot find anything in the recycle bin. There
are a number of folders that I think were created by extensions, and
probably contain settings - those I think I could get back if I reinstalled
the extension. But does this mean I have to reinstall all extensions? Some
may not even install, being listed as not-compatible, although they did work
for me.
I have a profile backup that does contain some of my current extensions, but
it is a year old, I am not sure if it is a good idea to restore that. I
would use mozbackup for that, and only restore the extensions, but still...

Unless you are a tester, I would question why you would use a beta
product.

seamonkey 2.11 - all my addons gone! HELP

2012-07-23 Thread Margo Guda

Hello,
I have been on the beta channel for Seamonkey since I cannot even remember.
Today a new beta was automatically installed, but it would not run correctly
- did not ask for master password, and did not load any web pages or log on
to my email provider. So I downloaded the previous official version (2.11)
and installed it over the existing installation.
Now all my addons (and I had quite a few!) are GONE. Please help me restore
my add-ons, I am totally lost without them. How do I find them again? I
can't believe they are totally lost?

THanks...
