java script is client side.
it only prevents that a form can be submittet.
what if you circumvent that and post directly?
as we know, simulating a post ist quite easy:
telnet to host port 80:

"POST /superposter/gna.php HTTP/1.1\r\n
Host: www.blabla.ch \r\n
User-Agent: whatever you want\r\n
Accept:
text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plai
n;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5\r\n
Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate\r\n
Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7\r\n
Keep-Alive: 300\r\n
Connection: keep-alive\r\n
Referer: www.blabla.ch/urli/index.php
Cookie: PHPSESSID-111\r\n
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded\r\n
Content-Length: 100\n
\r\n
action=login&nick=username&password=password&submit=LOGIN
\r\n"

if you get that you cannot check if he used your javascript or not ,-)
he might check your session-id, but what if the client gets a session id
and uses that one to fill in the form.
that soo easy :-) (i'm using such a tool as a proxy for an online game
since about 5 years ,-))

[swinog] *SPECIAL* SwiNOG-BE40 - BBQ/Beer Event 40 - 7th of August @ Oerlikerpark Block this subject

2006-07-21 Diskussionsfäden Glogger Steven
hi all

yesss.. already the 40th beer event and its summer! so be prepared for
another great swinog-beer and grill event ;-)

we go again for this BBQ event Oerlikerpark (near Center Eleven / Zurich
Oerlikon).

Link for registration http://swinog.mrmouse.ch/
please read the whole e-mail - there are some important informations :)

when is it?

7th of august at around 18.30 - until.. well..open end ;)

Registration deadline: 06.08.2006 24:00:00

ok, the registration deadline is kind of obsolete. anyone who wants to
come just
comes. we have enough space ,-)
(but for the restaurant in case of bad weather it's quite important)

what to food / drink?
---
quite simple: what you bring with you is what you can eat and drink.
some ppl
are sponsoring some things, but don't rely on that.

we will have some grills and some place to seat.

since i'm just coming back from holidays one day before the event i
might not be able to get some charcoal but i will at least sponsor some
one-way-usable-trow-away grills. and for sure i'll bring the little
ventilator ;-) (thanks another time to roman ;-))

so, if you register and you want to contribute something for others
please note
it to the "COMMENTS" field when registering. this is very helpful for
others to
know, that to bring ;-)

this could be:
- beer
- some hot sauces (venty?)
- chips & snacks
- good mood
- bread
- desserts
- salads
- etc..

where is it?
-
http://www.gis.zh.ch/gb4/zvv/zvv.asp?zvv=ja&hst=0103789

it's in the 'Oerlikerpark' near Center Eleven / Zurich Oerlikon.
with the bus 64 or 75 from bahnhof oerlikon until 'Bollingerweg'.
or you come with the bus number 80 until 'Birchstrasse' and then walk
behind
the credit suisse building. ith the car you might park in the Parkhaus
Octavo
(in the CS building) or
in he near of the center eleven (coop; 5min away and has open until
20.00).

see pictures on http://gallery.glogger.ch/swinogbe16

problems (!!!):
---
there is NO public toilet in the near. so please consider this before
leaving
for the BE ,-) there might be some toilets walking some minutes around
;-)

if there is (very) bad weather:

On Bad weather (will be communicated on the same day around noon) we go
to the "Outback" Bahnhof Stadelhofen
if the weather is very bad on that date we would move to the "Outback"
at Bahnhof Stadelhofen.
I will make an email until 12:00 about the change if necessairy and
update the website.

If someone cannot find us: call me on my handy: 079 / 277 92 35

dear swinogers

sorry i'm a little bit late with this mail. but in one of my last posts
i told you to reserve the 17th :)
anyway, deadline is sunday 18:00 for reg.

some important words:
==
since we're reserving at the pumpstation, and officially we're not
allowed to reserve any table there, we have to be really on time.
i have to give up the remaining space around 18:45/18:50. so, if you're
not punctional it might be that your seat is already gone and you'll
organize a new seat by yourself... we've had some troubles with the
restaurant last year because people came too late, we've had an almost
empty table around for about an hour. this is bad for their business and
this is bad for us (no reservations anymore...).
if you're not sure if you'll be on time just drop a note to the comment
field...

imagine this imaginary conversation with an ISP help desk:

helpdesk: "good day sir. how can i help you?"

customer: "help - my internet and my ADSL line is not working anymore."

helpdesk: "does your phone is working?"

customer: "no, not at all - i'm calling you from my mobile."

helpdesk: "did you checked the cablings? is the plug inserted correct in
the walljack?"

... 2minutes of rümschelrümschel... we hear an 'outch' - seems the customer
banged his head against the table or so...

customer: "yes, i've taken it out and plugged back in -
but still no signal"

helpdesk: "hmm.. let me check your line - " ... ... "yes, i
dont see any signal on our side - it could be that you have a psysical access
problem"

customer: "no, i'm not challenged!!!"

helpdesk: "i mean that your physical line of the t-e-l-e-p-h-o-n-e might
be interrupted / broken somewhere. you know, the thin cable ..."

customer: "what should i do? call an electrician?"

helpdesk: "no, we will open a ticket at the local telco".

... some days later ...

helpdesk: "good day sir. we've got now feedback from the local telco
company. your line should be fixed within the next days"

customer: "what is it?"

helpdesk: "lets call it problem with the last mile access..."

customer: "... which means?"

helpdesk: "well... it seems that someone stole your wire?"

customer: "sorry, i'm disturbed.. he stole what??"

helpdesk: "as you might have heard the price increase for copper has lead
some criminals to pick exiting copper lines which are digged in the street...
some made a fortune with copper lines..:"

customer: "this would explain why my electrian had to put in new
electrical-cables - they might have disappeared some days ago... i had no power
at all... "

customer: "... and my internet was not working ... thats why i called you"

helpdesk:

otherwise..please refer to "the internet help desk" (old but always good :))

Subject: 91.192/10 to be used for PI assignments to End Users

Dear Colleagues,

At recent RIPE Meetings, we have reported a steady rise in requests from our
members for Provider Independent (PI) address space for End User networks. We
have reclaimed and recycled space from closed Local Internet Registries to meet
this demand, but we are nearing the point where the available PI space will run
out.

In the past, we made PI assignments from former Class C space (193/8 and
194/7). Because of the increasing demand for PI space, we made sure that we
would be able to use some of our most recent allocation of address space to
meet future requests. We have designated 91.192/10 for PI assignments to End
User networks.

When the former Class C space is exhausted, we will start to make PI
assignments from 91.192/10. We will let you know when this happens. We are
announcing a pilot prefix using the RIS beacons, you may want to update any
filters that you have in place.

The RIS beacons are announcing the following networks:

91.192.0.0/24
91.192.0.0/16

You can ping 91.192.0.1. Full details of reachable IP addresses and tools are
available on our web site at:

In addition to the traditional backhoe threat, as the price of copper
increased so has the threat of people stealing telephone trunk cables
containing copper wire.

Since Jan. 1, there have been 148 reports of copper wire theft in San
Bernardino County, said sheriff's spokeswoman Jodi Miller.

Per pound, the metal has risen in price from about 70 cents in July

RE: [swinog] RFD: Filtering/Blacklisting AS9145 (EWETEL) Cause:Providing internet access to known spamer

2006-06-23 Diskussionsfäden Glogger Steven
hoi benoit

well, i personally dont see a difference between fürst and any other korean, US
or spanish spammer.
so why should i block any other ISP's AS/traffic? the collateral damage might
be too big and does not justify the filtering.
anyway, i dont like spammer and i don't like fürst at all. i cannot understand
the reasons of EWETEL to not react on it, because it's a normal abuse case
where they risk to get on blacklists which can cause them more damage.. but
anyway, thats their risk

if you think to put the whole AS9145 to the swinog antispam list we might
consider to not use anymore the list, because we're having then a sorbs-a-like
effect which i dont like ...
but i'm not the decision maker in our company, so this remains a personal view

well, i think RSS is quite a standard and there are possibilities to
provide the swinog mailinglist also as RSS feed..
but anyway, a forum/blog is the wrong way... mail should be still the

by an blog? are you insane!?
well...at least we have a well-trained blog-chief aka rapido :)
but we could also try to set up an own IPTV stream and each of us can
...
... ok, lets foget about that :)

but some mailclients support also filtering and rules.. maybe this is
also a solution for ruedi :)

hi ruedi

bad.

how do you answer to posts? ,-)
for me RSS is not a solution for participating in a mailinglist. if you
want to have read only access, it may be an alternative... so you still
need the mails ;-)

> I personally would very much favour this approach for the following

yes, you're right, we've got about 654'465'108 mails a year on
this mailinglist ;-) makes sense ,-)

> - No problems with auto replys which flood the whole list

well, as i said: mail will remain, so auto reply's will remain ...

> - Only headers get downloaded automatically. This saves bandwidth.

i dont know, but i think bandwidth is not really a problem with that
mailinglist, right? we're not (yet) at nanog's size ,)

i think you're gladly invited to provide an RSS feed for those people
which cannot live without it ;-)

[swinog] SwiNOG-BE37 - Beer Event 37 - 15th of May 06 @Pumpstation / Zurich Lake

2006-05-11 Diskussionsfäden Glogger Steven
dear swinogers

the summer is coming and i hope to have great weather next monday...
why?
well.. 1st beer event at the lake? isn't that a good reason?
i know, i'm a little bit late sending out invitations..but anyway.. ;-)

some important words:
==
since we're reserving at the pumpstation, and officially we're not
allowed to reserve any table there, we have to be really on time.
i have to give up the remaining space around 18:45/18:50. so, if you're
not punctional it might be that your seat is already gone and you'll
organize a new seat by yourself... we've had some troubles with the
restaurant last year because people came too late, we've had an almost
empty table around for about an hour. this is bad for their business and
this is bad for us (no reservations anymore...).
if you're not sure if you'll be on time just drop a note to the comment
field...

the facts for the next event:
-
Date: 15th of May 2006

Time: starting around 18.30 o'clock

Location:   @lake in restaurant "Pumpstation" (see image;
www.pumpstation.ch)

On Bad weather (will be communicated the same day around noon) we go to
the "Outback" Bahnhof Stadelhofen

Registration deadline: 14.05.2006 12:00:00

Registration:
-
Please register here: http://swinog.mrmouse.ch/ Since we have to make
reservations, i need to know who's coming and who not. If you cannot
attend and you're registered please inform me asap.

RE: [swinog] swinog-12?

sounds good to me.

if there is any box for wishlists:

it would be interesting to have again IFPI (mr. beat högger, 'game over') and
netmon gmbh (netmon.ch) with us to show us what is the strategy and the current
situation in switzerland. and netmon to show us technically how they operate
and to give us a technically detailled view of their work.
probably mr. christian schwarz and DBA/uvek would be the right person to have
also someone from legal/official side.
this presentation + talk would probably take one half day ,-)

[swinog] sdsl + isdn backup

2006-01-19 Diskussionsfäden Glogger Steven
hi all

i'm just wondering what you guys are using for bbcs sdsl lines for which
customers are ordering also isdn backup.

currently we're using for cheaper solutions a zyxel 791/792 with an
external isdn TA (omni.net D/omni.net lite) and as a a more expensive
solution a modular cisco router with isdn and sdsl wic.

since the zyxels always making troubles - we've found more than 2
serious bugs - and zyxel forgets sometimes to fix those bugs in new
firmwares and new models we're looking for a completely new solution.

are there on the market any devices which we're able to use for the
swisscom bbcs service and which have a built-in isdn backup interface?
... and are below the price of ciscos... ;-)

well, ip addresses don't cost anything. i assume that you want get PI
space ,-)
you may charge an administrative fee for all the administrative
purposes.
it takes some time to fill in all the required forms and write the
request. some providers are requesting money for this efford (it can
take up to several hours of work - depending how much you want and now
many questions RIPE will send to the provider - if something is bad).
normally, if you switch your network and ask for own ip space some
providers are doing this for free (included in setup fee for
connectivity or so).
so, lets say the price is from 0.- to several hundreds or thousands ;-)

RE: AW: [swinog] couple of sunrise dsl outages

2005-12-06 Diskussionsfäden Glogger Steven
well, what is the real problem?

when i read that only business customers are affected, not private i suppose
that swisscom is routing business customers to (one or more) other lns of
sunrise.
is the interconnection between sunrise and swisscom broken? if yes: normally
traffic is rerouted to some redundant system (in this case probably lausanne).
is the backbone to lausanne too small? capacity problems? planning faults?

dear sunrise, tell us what is happening in detail ,-) everyone would like to
learn from mistakes ;-)

well, they're right.
internet would be so safe if no one would use admin rights - much more
better: no one should use computers at all.
no computer = no internet = no spam = no cybercrime = no
amazon/ebay/skype/google/

anyway, things will change in release 8 or 9 ;-)

[swinog] interesting ... how spamming works...

2005-11-04 Diskussionsfäden Glogger Steven
hi there

while analysing some bogus stuff i found out, that some strange requests
where going to:

especially the first link is very interesting.
it generates (random?) e-mail adresses and the spamming text...

and also some nonworking (anymore) links:

OT: blogging (was: [swinog] WEKO versus Swis scom regarding ADSL: Verfügung online)

2005-10-25 Diskussionsfäden Glogger Steven
hi fredy

it's nice to see that you have started now a successful career in the
journalism and politics. s

"..thanks for using the blogg2swinog mailgateway for updating my links..."

sorry freddy, but don't you think you can write normal e-mails to the
mailinglist or do you just keep on pasting links?
are you so keen to push your motz-blogg on top of the google ranking? i think,
people who wants to read your blogg will do - and people who don't want will
not. there was a nice invention some time ago called RSS-feeds.

i personally thought at the beginning: well, a nice blogg to cover the
interests of the swiss internet community. but now i have to admit, that it
seems that this is your personal newsletter to gruble against everyone (aka
enemies - i mean 'public' enemies).
we all know now that you don't like sunrise, swisscom, cablecom, solnet, etc.

to take out a short statistic from the last 20 entries of your blog:
- 1 positive message (wimax)
- 1 neutral message (swinog #11 - ok, we're all alkies ;-))
- 1 ad (multihomed; it's your right - it's your blog :))
- 15 motz, complain and information about swisscom/sunrise/cablecom/switch/etc.
- 2 informations about (possible) bankrupties (comparis.ch/webspace4you)

the one really funny entry i remember was the one with the broken /dev/null
device.

so, please keep in mind that blog's are more or less personal diaries. if you
want to really discuss swiss network stuff please use the mailinglist - i will
not use your blogg for discussing internet/swinog related topics.

so, this is just my personal opinion (and i told you this already some weeks
ago whereupon you wrote the /dev/null-thing; this means that my opinion has
nothing to do with the fact that cybernet has bought by swisscom).

hi all

october event is coming. it seems to be a little bit rainy and cold -
so, lets move the beer event to a warmer place ... so move it to
australia ... to the outback.

ok, now something serious:
hey all the cablecom guys!
PLEASE REGISTER ONLY IF YOU COME! IF YOU DONT COME PLEASE DROP A MAIL!
IF YOU'RE NOT SURE: don't think about registering.
i was quite pissed last time of some guys, registering and not coming.
the restaurant looses money, and our nerves are quite struggling all the
time for keeping the seats.

but as far as we know is is quite a common behaviour for cablecom
guys...

the facts for the next event:

Date: 3th of October 2005

Time: starting around 18.30 o'clock

Location: @ the "Outback" Bahnhof Stadelhofen

well, i don't know if this works. you would have to parse the
'sendebestätigung'. i'm not sure if external services like minick are giving
this feedback. if you use your own infrastructure there is the possiblity.

> - maybe sending sms to customers
do you really want to do this? :) well..depenting on your configuration whom
you send sms to.

> - sort of security (not everyone should be able to send email
> to the gateway)
you might filter this out on your mail (relay-)server or on the incoming edge
of the sms-gateway (e.g. with a password).

> - a simple network monitor tool which pings the servers that
> should be running and if there's no communication, send an sms
look at nagios or any other network monitor tool. all of them support
notification by email (and then your email2sms gateway will do the rest ,-))

> - maybe two way sms gateway (tech. could send a ping with his
> mobile, could aknowledge a error message, and so on)
don't be complicated. use nagios (or $yourfavoritemonitoringtool), buy a nice
mobile with integrated ssh/telnet tool and save the spare time to enjoy an
evening at the lake ;-)

> Do you have any recommentions, which tool and/or hardware to

you should have a look at nagios (http://www.nagios.org/) and use either a
connected gsm phone to the server or use one of the many gsm gateways there are
(ipplus sms service/only for ip+ customers; minick; etc..)

[swinog] *SPECIAL* SwiNOG-BE28 - BBQ/Beer Event 28 - 8th of August @ Oerlikerpark

2005-07-27 Diskussionsfäden Glogger Steven
hi all

last time the weather was not good ;-( i hope that this time we will have a
fantastic weather and can enjoy the next tryout of our BBQ event.

we go again for this BBQ event Oerlikerpark (near Center Eleven / Zurich
Oerlikon).

Link for registration http://swinog.mrmouse.ch/
please read the whole e-mail - there are some important informations :)

when is it?

8th of august at around 18.30 - until.. well..open end ;)

Registration deadline: 08.08.2005 12:00:00

ok, the registration deadline is kind of obsolete. anyone who wants to come
just comes. we have enough space ,-)
(but for the restaurant in case of bad weather it's quite important)

what to food / drink?
---
quite simple: what you bring with you is what you can eat and drink. some ppl
are sponsoring some things, but don't rely on that.

we will have some grills and some place to seat.

i will sponsor some charcoal and bring again some one-way-usable-trow-away
grills. and for sure i'll bring the little ventilator ;-) (thanks to roman ;-))
i heard that some guys wants to sponsor some beer ;-) roger will bring a tent...

so, if you register and you want to contribute something for others please note
it to the "COMMENTS" field when registering. this is very helpful for others to
know, that to bring ;-)

this could be:
- beer
- some hot sauces (venty?)
- chips & snacks
- good mood
- bread
- desserts
- salads
- etc..

where is it?
-
http://www.gis.zh.ch/gb4/zvv/zvv.asp?zvv=ja&hst=0103789

it's in the 'Oerlikerpark' near Center Eleven / Zurich Oerlikon.
with the bus 64 or 75 from bahnhof oerlikon until 'Bollingerweg'.
or you come with the bus number 80 until 'Birchstrasse' and then walk behind
the credit suisse building. ith the car you might park in the Parkhaus Octavo
(in the CS building) or
in he near of the center eleven (coop; 5min away and has open until 20.00).

see pictures on http://gallery.glogger.ch/swinogbe16

problems (!!!):
---
there is NO public toilet in the near. so please consider this before leaving
for the BE ,-)
there might be some toilets walking some minutes around ;-)

if there is (very) bad weather:

if the weather is very bad on that date we would move to the 'Johanniter' in
the 'Döfli'. i' make an email until 12:00 about the change.

If someone cannot find us: call me on my handy: 079 / 277 92 35

such a thing ,-)

swisscom does some per-ISP accounting - because they deliver the whole
traffic to $ISP.
and sunrise has also to do per-user accounting, to send the bill...

ok, for the speed: it's 3 times faster .. (ow..is that slow -,))
but is it really cheaper?

let's calculate a little bit:

20MB costs the user at least 10.- per month (that he has to switch his
telephone to sunrise is another thing).

a 56k modem reaches about 7kb/sec. so 20Mb takes about 48 Minutes to
download. 1 hour by phone costs something CHF 2.80.
i know, its a little bit comparing apples with pears... but at the end:
- the user can download faster (ok, it takes hime 16 minutes...)
- pays around 10x more ...

the user should enjoy a good coffee during that download - which he can
of course afford because he saved some money ;-)

> Why does everything need to do Swisscom-bashing as a principle?

it'snot swisscom bashing (ok, maybe a little bit): but the pricing we
have to pay to swisscom is far away from good and bad. it seems that
they took a pricelist from 1998 or so for this service... pfft...

lastmile = swisscom, so no overbidding with bandwidths in switzerland.

> Does anyone have reliable information about what swiss
> broadband ISPs plan to offer in the next future?

don't talk about "swiss broadband ISPs". it's only swisscom, who's offering any
service. the "swiss broadband ISPs" are only resellers of swisscom's service.

as far as i know swisscom never talked about ADSL2+ but used words like SDSL
and maybe VDSL...
so, let us see what the future brings us...

do they have something small-printed in their contracts that they *might*
filter things out?
otherwise i would call this an semi-illegal action...
