Re: [symfony-users] Re: sfDoctrineGuardPlugin install problem

2009-12-02 Thread Christopher Schnell
No, you can either

1-download package
2-extract to plugins folder in your Symfony Project, not the Symfony lib!

or

Install them directly via PEAR. If you get an error when using Pear, you should
first check, that PEAR is running correctly.

BTW, what error did you get, you never mentioned.

Christopher.

Yes, I have this problem in the past and off course you're missing add
some routes. Look at docs for the topic "Customize sfGuardAuth redirect
handling" there is your solution. Just add this:

all:
   sf_guard_plugin:
 success_signin_url:  @my_route?param=value
 success_signout_url: module/action

To your app.yml file and the problem is solved, at least for me works

[symfony-users] Re: Admin Generator Custom themes : is it possible to override only a few templates ?

2009-12-02 Thread theredled
You're right Richtermeister, that's what I way saying. Thanks for the
ticket, cool to sse that I'm not alone with that issue :D

However, after having posting here, I've made a bit dirty hack in my
own Generator class, so that overriding is selective, at least for
templates.
For configuration and action, I've changed the corresponding includes.

That's dirty for some reasons but this way I don't have to do Daniel
Lohse's work for unmodified files (ie, half of them).

I can paste it here if someone wants it.

[symfony-users] Strange sfGuard bug/problem

2009-12-02 Thread Patrick Fong
Hi all,

I'm having a strange issue when trying to login using sfGuard. For some
reason, and this only happens randomly, it will redirect to
http://domain/css/main.css.

I can't seem to figure out why this would be happening in the first place
and the fact that it only happens on a seemingly random basis makes it even
harder to debug.

Has anyone experienced this or able to point me in the right direction.

Cheers,
Pat

Yes, count me in. I'm doing regular searches if something changed in the
default theme bundled with symfony so I can pull these changes in. :)

This happened yesterday when Jonathan Wage added something. :)

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my custom theme. Looks good and does its job.
I'm just a little bit afraid when symfony finally adds the possibility to sort
on foreign fields or, worse (but better for symfony),
switches to sfGrid (they promised to include it in symfony 1.3, ah well).

[symfony-users] Re: sfDynamics::load('jquery.SCRIPTNAME') not loading in the result div, after an ajax action

2009-12-02 Thread artmajeur
all required files (CSS and JS) are well included in first place, but
they seem "unavailable" when in the updated div context.
 Here is a typical chain of actions:

- fooAction: sfDynamics::load('jquery.fancybox')
- fooActionSuccess: Select Contact ---> this
links triggers the "lightbox" with list of contacts
- I click on a contact in the lightbox, it updates the "contact" div
(wich is on fooActionSuccess)
- within the contact div, I have a modify link : Modify Contact ---> this link does not trigger the
lightbox. indeed, no JS seems to be passed from the fooActionSuccess
page

I did try to set sfDynamics::load('jquery.fancybox') also in the
action that updates the contact div, but it does not help, I cant get
any JS to work in a "ajax called" div, unless I reload all classes &
css everytime I update the div..

it seems this project is common with JS not working on an ajax
"produced" page, I found threads about that problem (http://
www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-19555.html), but I
thought that sfdynamics would handle that problem somehow

I think he is referring to customizing the admin generator itself via
a theme, and from what I remember there is an issue with that. It
should allow you selective overrides, but so far you still have to
copy the entire generator and make changes there..

I believe the corresponding ticket is this here:

Assume you have a module "my_user" for the model "myUser".

You can put in apps/frontend/modules/my_user/templates folder
files from cache/frontend/dev/modules/automy_user/templates folder
(something like it).

Just generate the first time the module by going to the generated page in
your browser.

Am I clear enough ? Does it fill your needs ?

Re: [symfony-users] Form Validation

2009-12-02 Thread Alexandre Salomé
Hi,

  Welcome to symfony :)

  You must set a postValidator on the validatorSchema of your form.

  In the configure() method of your form :

public function configure()
{
  $this->setPostValidator(new sfValidatorSchemaCompare("left_field",
sfValidatorSchemaCompare::GREATER_THAN, "right_field"));
}

Is it OK ?

This indeed seems to be the best way that is currently possible with
Symfony. Where do you do the actually removing of the cache?

[symfony-users] Doctrine Actas plugin

2009-12-02 Thread Antoine S.
hi,

I am trying to write a plugin to make a table "actas" Commentable.

so in
class Doctrine_Commentable extends Doctrine_Record_Generator
{
}
I create a table that contain the comments (ORIGINALTABLE_comment), so
I have more than one table, because I have different commentable table
(ex: blog, forum, product..)
I have not choose to have a single table for all the comment and so
have a schame.yml.

it works fine,
but the generated files are not like a plugin. I mean with an abstract
PluginFile and the files that extend.
All the generated files are in the project with :

$builderOptions = array(
  'suffix'=> '.class.php',
  'baseClassesDirectory'  => 'base',
  'generateBaseClasses'   => true,
  'generateTableClasses'  => true,
  'baseClassName' => 'sfDoctrineRecord',
  'package'   =>
'dqlActAsCommentablePlugin.lib.model.doctrine',
  'is_package_class' => true,
  );

  $this->setOption('builderOptions', $builderOptions);

  $this->setOption('generatePath', sfConfig::get
('sf_lib_dir').DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.'model'.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.'doctrine'.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.'dqlActAsCommentablePlugin');
  $this->setOption('packagesPath', sfConfig::get
('sf_plugins_dir'));

Does anyone have an idea how to do that ?

Thanks

Re: [symfony-users] DBFinderPlugin future

2009-12-02 Thread Pablo Godel
Back when I started doing symfony projects, using Propel, I started using
DbFinder for some complicated queries. It was nice. But since I started
using Doctrine on newer projects, I found that there is no need to use
DbFinder any more. I never looked at it to develop an ORM-independent app, I
don't think it is a good idea, chose an ORM and stick with it. And by the
way, Doctrine is awesome!

[symfony-users] Question about the upgrade1.3 process and custom admin generator themes

2009-12-02 Thread Alex Gilbert
In one of our plugins, I have a custom admin generator theme that I
based off of the admin theme in symfony 1.2's sfDoctrine plugin (lib/
plugins/sfDoctrinePlugin/data/generator/sfDoctrineModule/admin/).

After upgrading symfony to 1.3 I got the following warning message in
the admin generator modules that used this theme:

Strict Standards: Declaration of
BasePkUserAdminGeneratorConfiguration::getForm() should be compatible
with that of sfModelGeneratorConfiguration::getForm() in /Users/alex/
Sites/artcons/cache/frontend/dev/modules/autoPkUserAdmin/lib/
BasePkUserAdminGeneratorConfiguration.class.php on line 11

I did some digging and found that this method was being declared in my
theme in a file I had never touched (plugins/pkToolkitPlugin/data/
generator/sfDoctrineModule/pkAdmin/parts/configuration.php). I went to
sfModelGeneratorConfiguration and copied over the correct declaration
of this method into my configuration.php and now the warning is gone.

I'm wondering if I just missed this documentation somewhere. Would the
upgrade script have handled this if it was part of the project and not
in a plugin? Or could this be better documented for others that may
run into the same problem? (I did fine one similar open ticket from a
month ago: http://trac.symfony-project.org/ticket/7463.)

Sounds like you're expecting an AJAX action to load scripts and css, but
AJAX actions typically don't and symfony does not use the layout for those
actions either.

Why? AJAX assumes your page already has the scripts an d CSS it needs to
update the page. So they should already be loaded when you call your AJAX
action.

Why do you want to switch ORM? Both Propel and Doctrine are supported by

[symfony-users] Re: DBFinderPlugin future

2009-12-02 Thread Frosty
+1 for a DbFinderPlugin support for Symfony >= 1.3.
I even think that such a piece of code should be part of Symfony core.

I don't mind if I work with Propel, Doctrine or
AnyOtherSuperFutureORM. I just want it to query my DB.

I shouldn't rewrite all queries and schemas if I need to switch ORM,
just because Symfony developers changed their recommendation.

I'd rather do something like :
$results = Db->from('Article a')->join('Comment c')->where('...')->find
() or ->paginate(...)
whatever being the underlying ORM.

If the ORM choice is not obvious (like for Propel & Doctrine), just
support all the "best" ORMs and let the user choose through
configuration if necessary... The default one being Symfony's
recommendation.

Moreover, if you need a very specific and uncommon ORM feature, you
could just configure Symfony to use that ORM and bypass the "generic
layer", calling directly the ORM classes & methods.

The format for YML schemas and admin generation could be, as well,
processed in a generic way through all future framework versions &
ORMs.

A generic ORM layer in Symfony :
- Avoids to create / update / read documentation for each new ORM
(instead, work on one ORM abstraction layer)
- Avoids to rewrite & relearn DB querying when switching ORM
- Avoids to split the community with decisions such as
http://www.symfony-project.org/blog/2009/06/11/new-in-symfony-1-3-what-s-up-with-propel-and-doctrine
- Allows support for multiple ORMs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_object-relational_mapping_software#PHP
- Greatly improves plugin compatibility

IMHO all that worths the slight overhead generated by the generic ORM
layer, which should be mainly rewriting method calls.

BTW, note that the same problem goes for email sending...

[symfony-users] sfDynamics::load('jquery.SCRIPTNAME') not loading in the result div, after an ajax action

2009-12-02 Thread artmajeur
Hi,
I am using a fancybox script with sfDynamics, basically, I use the
fancybox "lightbox" to select a contact, and then fill a contact_div
with the appropriate info, as selected in the lighbox.

Problem:
after the lighbox action is hidden, the contact_div is filled with the
appropriate info, but the "modify" link, supposedly the same as the
one used in first place to trigger the lighbox, does not work.

It looks like symfony does not load the sfDynamics::load
('jquery.SCRIPTNAME') library in the ajax action, so the CSS ans JS
are not available in the rendered Ajax Div.

My Current "solution":
I reaload manually the dynamics JS and CSS needed for the lightbox,
directly in the template, wich does work but also sucks.

Have someone found a better solution to this problem ?

thanks

But it seems that it's not the case anymore : I've created a theme,
but only theme files are generated, not default ones.

Has it disappeared ? Or am I missing something ?

[symfony-users] Error using sfFacebookConnectPlugin and sfGuardPlugin

2009-12-02 Thread Zach
I am attempting to set up a new project using Facebook Connect and
thought I would give the sfFacebookConnectPlugin a try. It looks like
a great plugin and I would like to thank Fabrice and all the other
contributors for their hard work to make this plugin available. I just
hope I can get it all set up and running properly.

I am getting the error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getId() on a non-object in C:
\wamp\www\myproj\plugins\sfGuardPlugin\lib\user
\sfGuardSecurityUser.class.php on line 63

I have never used sfGuardPlugin before either, so maybe I have
installed it wrong. I am currently running Symfony 1.0. Any ideas
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Zach

[symfony-users] Re: DBFinderPlugin future

2009-12-02 Thread MoUeTtE
thanks for answering, and of course each ORM has it's good parts.

For sure specific data logic has to be developed directly using ORM,
and I never said we have to ban ORM specific dev nor that DbFinder has
to implement nested set or geocode behavior. I just find it's a pity
it is no more maintained.
In some cases such as newsletter, application preferences, template
switcher, even a simple blog, logic is very simple and it should be
possible to have it ORM agnostic. It's all about avoiding code
replication when it is possible, and DbFinder has been developed for
that.

I really think a first class framework as symfony has to furnish such
a thing, that's all.

[symfony-users] Re: DBFinderPlugin future

2009-12-02 Thread Tom Boutell
DbFinder is a bad choice for plugins that use the database in a
nontrivial way. Yes, it unifies things at the simplest level
(queries), but if you want to use the features that really distinguish
one ORM from another (column aggregation inheritance, behaviors,
migrations), you're out of luck. And it also adds overhead, slowing
everything down.

Pick an ORM and help maintain plugins that use it. Say no to doing new
projects with the other ORM. This has worked well for us - of course
we support our earlier client sites built with Propel and Symfony 1.0
but new development is all Doctrine.

Anyway, to do semantic web just respect the separation of concerns
between structure (HTML/XHTML), presentation (CSS) and behaviour
(Javascript).

It's not so hard to do a GROUP BY in Propel.
I wrote a post on Italian symfony blog a while ago:

I know, it's in Italian, but the code is straightforward ("Card" in
the post is just an example name for a model)

[symfony-users] Re: DBFinderPlugin future

2009-12-02 Thread MoUeTtE

I really do like symfony because I can develop plugins for everything
and easily re-use code in every applications that needs it. As I
remember, jobeet tutorial encourages you to do so, Pirum release let
me think that Sensio labs wants us to create our own repository too,
so everything encourages us to develop in plugin style.

Thanks to that, applications upgrade can be done in 2 times: upgrade
all plugins, and then upgrade specific code for each application, so
the more you reuse your code, the less work you have to do for
upgrade, definitely that's great, I guess everybody will agree.

In the meantime, ORM choice can depend on a lot of things:
 - available ecosystem
 - coding style experience
 - behaviors
 - client need
 - already existing application...

whatever it is, we usually have to use both ORMs (on different
projects of course), that's why I do not feel comfortable with
sticking to an ORM for plugin development. I even thought it was the
reason DbFinder was developed for, in order to have better
compatibility, better consistency and finally better ecosystem.

Now, I just hope I will not have to redevelop and duplicate all my
work just to upgrade to the LTS version, because having production
projects using unmaintained libraries sucks.

To go further, I'm wondering why this plugin isn't included with
default distribution in order to invite plugin developers to use it,
it would be so nice if sfGuard, media library, blog, forum, bugreport,
wiki or whatever application plugins were ORM agnostic.

To conclude, that's definitely great to be able to choose your ORM,
and I'm aware that some functionalities could not be abstracted, but I
don't feel like it's an option anymore to have a maintained cross ORM
layer, mostly since Sensio has direct or indirect control over both
ORMs.

Julien.

When you press F5, Internet explorer will make a new request for the main
page.

When you press F5, Firefox will reload the page, but not make a new request
(if cache is enabled). Behaviors are differents, but to make a "fresh"
reload (CSS, images, etc.) in Firefox : CTRL + MAJ + R.

Have fun,

I was use this solution for complicated routes:
 "mymodule",
"action" => "myaction", "id" => (!$form->getObject()->isNew()) ? $form-
>getObject()->getId() : '' )) ?>
If route name already have predefined `module` and `action` then you
can not determine their in url_for statement.
Example:
in routes we have:
route_name1:
  url: /save
  param: { module: mymodule, action: save }
route_name2:
  url: /another_update
  param: { module: anothermodule, action: update }

getObject()->isNew()) ? 'route_name1' :
'route_name2', array("id" => (!$form->getObject()->isNew()) ? ;form-

[symfony-users] Form Validation

2009-12-02 Thread WEB-CHALLENGE
Hi everybody!

I'm a new Symfony User.

I want to setup a form where the user can enter many values.

But, in the validation, the form won't be valid unless a certain data
[an integer field] is greater than an other also entered by the user.

I think it's simple but I'm really novice in Symfony environnement.

Thanks

[symfony-users] Re: Extends BaseClass and parent methods SF 1.3

2009-12-02 Thread Florian
Hi!

For me, it's a problem of __magic :

You maybe come from Propel's ORM ( who generates *real* getters and
setters )
so you can overload these defined in BaseClass in the final Class.

But with Doctrine, it uses magic __call method for get* and set*, and
delegates to Doctrine_Record::get ( and ::_get ) methods.

If you want to overlaod the getWebUser method, use that:

public function getWebUser($load=true) {
$webUser = $this->get('web_user', $load);
}

Hope it helps!

I found the answer myself.
FYI
http://www.symfony-project.org/forms/1_2/en/01-Form-Creation
http://www.symfony-project.org/forms/1_2/en/03-Forms-for-web-Designers
creating your form class extended from sfForm.
lastly just echo $form...that form has csrf_token.

thanks the documentation :)

2009-12-02 Thread ridcully
Hi,

after updating from symfony 1.2.9 to symfony 1.3.0 i can't call parent
Methods Call anymore when i've overload the method:

Class XY extends BaseXY{

 public function getWebUser($load=true){
$webUser = parent::getWebUser($load);
if .

 }

}

I get an segmation Fault and I've debug the the Parent call and
Symfony tries to call methods from Class XY and not the method
BaseXY, so it's a neverending loop.

Doesn't surprise me. Its very possible that IE might not follow some of the
standard caching mechanisms employed by other browsers. In other words, you
had a caching option enabled, Firefox understood it and followed orders
whereas IE because it doesn't yet respond to that option. In effect this
would point out a deficiency in IE (again).

Re: [symfony-users] Firefox cache problem - routing

2009-12-02 Thread Guychmyrat Amanmyradov
Thanks for answer.

i have checked my cache.ymls.  all default caches are disabled. on my module
config. and on my application config. But on my settings.yml cache is on. i
disabled ( cache off) on there and worked fine. Thanks.
Strange thing is that, only on firefox. i checked on ie 7 & 8. on ie it works
fine. i mean even cache is on new messages come.

Are you sure its Firefox? Have you tested this with other browsers? Your first
step is to confirm if its the browser or not. If you get the same results
within another browser then its the caching in your application affecting it.
Your best bet then is to relook at how you are caching on your application and
whether you have view/template caching that could be causing it.

Hello,
Firefox caches my dynamic pages, it does not show my new messages. I have to
press ctrl + f5 to see them. but if i can add a random parameter end of my url
ff thinks i sent new data. so it shows my new messages.

for a page i do not want to stop my all page cache.

is there any way to add auto parameter on my routing.yml

for example:

messages:
 url: /:sf_culture/messages/list
 param: { module: messages, action: list , randpar :  }

this is not working.

thanks in advance.
