It has been really dead lately - nothing interesting going on I guess.

Cannot get Adobe reader to read a file

2015-04-07 Thread Larry Higgins via Talk
Well, hello again friendly and patient listers. My latest issue is as
follows

I downloaded and installed the Adobe reader for Windows 8.1 in order to
read some Webinar work sheets, but the following is all I got when
opening the file.

Accessing Windows 8 with Window-Eyes
Learning Objectives
Review Questions

I tried pressing enter on each apparent topic, even the space bar, even
used F6, but no go. I think I have all of the accessibility options
running, but maybe not. There has to be a reason for this misbehavior,
but I just can't figure it out.

I finally resorted to converting the file to text, and could read the
file well enough, but I sure wish I could view the file through the
reader. Any ideas?

Oh well, I'm sure you will be hearing from me again soon. All goes with
trying to whip both me and the new'puter into shape.

Thanks much,

Larry

You probably were in the single page mode. If so, use control page down and
control page up to move through the document. You can also set things up to
load the full document, but that can take significant time for large

Control alt W strangely sorted it self out this morning

Hello again Chris

Thanks. This morning Control alt W is working again as it should.

Earlier on today I wrote regarding the Outlook Enhance Addinn that's not
working. My laptop is now locked in my office and I viewed your reply on my
message on my iPhone. I uninstalled the Outlook Enhance

App completely and reinstalled it again. Still my E-Mails open in MS
word. I pressed alt plus F and then T for the options menu. I then pressed
the letter A until I reached the Addinns section folled by alt G. I
pressed the down arrow until I reached the Outlook Enhance Addinn and
press space bar to check it followed by pressing the OK button. The problem
I encountered is that the Outlook Enhance Addinn remains unchecked.

RE: Cannot get Adobe reader to read a file

2015-04-07 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Larry,

I'm still using Adobe Reader X, but Preferences are found by opening the
Edit menu and up-arrowing once to the last menu option, called Preferences
and pressing Enter.
The dialog which opens is a multi-tab dialog, and so you must choose the
category you want by highlighting the Category tab control, using the arrow
key to scroll to the category you wish, and then you can tab into the
displayed page to set that category's settings.
Perhaps you can get better results by adjusting the settings on the
Accessibility tab.

Hth,

Rod

RE: apps question.

2015-04-07 Thread Sky Mundell via Talk
Hello Chris, what you do, is press
Control back slash to enter the Window-Eyes control panel
Alt A for apps press right arrow. You will find a number of options. The
option you want, is app manager. To get to it, you can either use the down
arrow keys, or you can hit the letter P, as in papa
Then, when you are in the app list, and there is an app you want to find the
hotkeys for, locate the app, for example, office enhance. Either Press tab,
until you get to help and options, or, to get their quickly, press alt h.
Then, you should be in the help for the office enhance. At this point, you
can tab around. There are a number of options to choose from. The one you
want is hotkey manager. When you find the hot key manager, press space,
which will open a list of the available Hot keys for office enhance, or any
other apps that you are running. I hope this helps, Sky.

Re: Window Eyes not reading lines correctly

2015-04-07 Thread Pamela Dominguez via Talk
I have the same thing. I am on lists with yahoogroups and googlegroups and
it happens with those, but not with other groups. I thought it was
something in my computer, because I figured if it happened to other people
they would be complaining about it. So, I'm glad it's not just me, but I
hope somebody can find a fix for it. Pam.

I see this on certain Yahoogroup e-mail messages, as displayed in Windows
Live Mail. I have forwarded examples of this to AI Squared Support. The
BARD-Talk listserv is one of those affedcted, although the example I
e-mailed is from N1MM Logger Plus, an amateur radio program's listserv.

Hi All,

I've noticed lately in the latest version of Window-Eyes that lines of text
aren't being read correctly. Some lines of text are not being read. If I
use my arrow keys and move back up a line then I can get window eyes to
read

the line correctly. I think I remember somebody else reporting this same
problem but I don't remember what the fix was. Can anybody help? I'm
running the latest version of window eyes with the latest updates.

Re: Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business (5KV-00001)

2015-04-07 Thread Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc. via Talk
Logitech does make keyboards like that. What I like about the Logitech
offering is that it's a plug--forget!! That's how I'll describe it anyway.

The keyboard uses two AAA batteries; it comes with a wireless mouse that
uses one AAA battery. Insert the nano-USB plug into a USB plug on your
computer and leave it there. Now the keyboard I have DOES NOT fold, but
that's OK since I'm not travelling with it anyway.

At the very top above the function keys, there are eight keys that perform
various activities: One raises the volume, one accesses the media player,
another opens the E-mail reader, yet another launches the home page; it even
has a key that puts the computer to sleep, and a key that opens the
Calculator program. This is a regular keyboard, the ergonomic ones DO NOT
work too well for me. Yes, it does have a numpad.

Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado

plugin has stopped responding. Is there any sort of way to do a repair
on it. It basicly keeps holding up web sites, where i have to restart
firefox constantly. It's extremely annoying. I'm running window-eyes 8.4

RE: browsing the web issues

2015-04-07 Thread Dave via Talk

Hello,

I am using the latest edition of Firefox, Win XP and Window Eyes 8.4.

Both Ebay.com and Youtube.com will allow me to scroll down the Web
Page for a few lines, and then it seems like the page refreshes
itself, Starting me over at the very Top of the Web Page.

I can Page Down, and it will attempt to Refresh, but if I keep
hammering the Page Down key, I get lots of verbale garbage, but can
eventually get close to the line I wish, but more often than not,
after pressing the Down Arrow key two three times, the Screen
refreshes and once again I am back at the top of the Web page.

I can use NVDA, and I wil, but I would rather use Window eyes.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks,

Dave

RE: Rename personal folder in outtlook 10

Alt-O,R,N should do the trick. This will let you rename a folder in Outlook
2010 or higher. You must be in the folder you want to rename before using
this key combination.
