Re: Full Version of WE

2016-06-07 Thread net bat via Talk

this will not work.
w e 9.0 will not install under windows 10
you have to email aisquared to request a link for a full w e 9.2 installation
file. include your w e serial number. save this file. this is the only one that
will do a fresh install on windows 10. then after it is installed check in the
w e help pull down for w e upgrades to get the newest w e 9.4 version.

Re: Full Version of WE

2016-06-07 Thread Neville via Talk

Hi Robert,

You need WE version 9.2 at least to install on W10. You will need to
email Ai Squared support, quoting your serial number, at

wesupp...@aisquared.com
and request a free downloadedable version of WE. You can save the
electronic version of WE to a flash drive or hard drive to run it.

WE 9.3 was the version I downloaded and after installation, updated to 9.4.

I went through all this just last month.

I am not sure why my experience is different, but I have two computers
that did not have passwords. When I upgraded both to Windows 10, it is
true that they did not go directly to the desktop, however I was able to
just press a sign-in button and did not have to set up a password.

Best regards,

No! You have to set password in order to use in windows 10. It's
possible to cancel it, but it' require to use in registry to change it.

the windows media player will not play dvd disks without a third party

if you have the windows media center this will, but it is not very speech

this is not the same as the windows media player.
if you have done a clean install of windows 10 the windows media center

Re: F8 and BECKY!

2016-06-07 Thread Neville via Talk

Hi,

A simple way of selecting text when browse mode is not available is to
use the 'select text' app. I have mine set to use F9 to begin the
selection and shift F9 to end. The text between these two points is now
selected and is available for manipulation. i.e. copy, delete, cut and
the like.

Re: suggestions for window-eyes

2016-06-07 Thread net bat via Talk

that depends on if its windows 7 or 8 and up.
its fairly easy with windows 7.
press f8 or is it control f8 as the computer boots. you would have to have
someone time how long it takes the safe boot menu to pop up. arrow down one
line and press enter. thats it.
windows 8 and up i don't think there is any way to do it. f8 or control f8
opens a windows type mouse driven screen. i don't think there is any sound
drivers loaded at this time. i don't even know if you can boot to safe mode on
the screen because i don't have anyone to tell me what options it has.

Hello,

What I would like to see in the new windoweyes version are the following:

1. The ability to use windows speech recognition.

Currently, only System access works fully with this feature of windows.

2. Also, I would like to see an easier way to get in to safe mode with
window-eyes. While safe mode is now accessible once you are in it, you
have no easy way to get in to safe mode.

Thanks,

Darrell

You have to turn on the attach html message option in the tools, general

Steve,

you can read html messages in browse mode if you like it.
Go to tools, general setup and the message view tabcontrol.
Shift tab here to:
html view
In your case it is set to:
convert to plain text
I have set it the same, but you can also set it to:
view with IE component

When opening a html mail, you can use the browse mode and when opening a
text based mail, it will not use browse mode.

RE: Question about upgrading to windows 10

2016-06-07 Thread Steve Jacobson via Talk
I don't know if this happens on the first reboot or not, but I started Narrator
too soon. It came up talking but there weren't any other windows that one
could ALT-TAB to except for Narrator and also the window that lets you press
any key to see what it does. I closed Narrator and let the upgrade go on its
way and no dammage seemed to be done. It seems to me that it would have been
simple for Microsoft to include a sound when the upgrade was complete, though.
Since one can bring up Narrator, the sound drivers are obviously functioning.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Re: F8 and BECKY!

2016-06-07 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Steve,

you can read html messages in browse mode if you like it.

Regards, Marten

In those emails the IE engine isn't used so browse mode4 isn't needed. Just use
ctrl-shift-arrow keys to select.
I went into the display and turned off html messages so they all don't use

2016-06-07 Thread Russ Kiehne via Talk
After listening to these webinars, is my understanding correct, I can use
Narrator after the first reboot to complete the upgrade?

Oops. It would be a little more helpful if I included the link I referenced.

Russ,

There are two webinars on the GW site on upgrading a system to Windows
10. Just go to the following page and then to the headings at level 3
for "Upgrading a PC with Window-Eyes to Windows 10 - Part 1" and
"Upgrading a PC with Window-Eyes to Windows 10 - Part 2"

That is the info I was looking for. I take it you used Narrator when

I am not sure why my experience is different, but I have two computers
that did not have passwords. When I upgraded both to Windows 10, it is
true that they did not go directly to the desktop, however I was able to
just press a sign-in button and did not have to set up a password.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

You are kidding? You mean there is no way to use windows 10
without editing the registry to bypass the use of a password?

No! You have to set password in order to use in windows 10. It's
possible to cancel it, but it' require to use in registry to change it.

I have windows 7 setup when I bootup the computer I go directly to
the desktop without a password. Will this setting remain when I
upgrade to windows 10?

Re: Introduction

2016-06-07 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk
Hello Steve, good that you are trying it out. I'm sure that scripts (or
apps as they are called in Window-Eyes) can be written for the non
standard programme. In fact, it would be a lot easier than Jaws, as
Window-Eyes will work with programming languages that support com plus
automation, which I believe is most programming languages, so it does
not require a proprietary format like Jaws does.

Dear all,

Just a quick message to say that I am a new user to the list.
I Have just started to try out Window Eyes, I am currently a JAWS user but
would like to keep my options open.
I Have one particular application at the moment which is non-standard in some
ways and I need to script it if possible.
That is really the first stumbling block but from my initial tests, I like what
I find a lot!
