There has been no official announcement from AISquared or VFO regarding this
topic and yes, you can still call AISquared and order an SMA. So I think
that someone is simply trying to start and continue totally unfounded
rumors. I really do wish this list would get back to discussing Window-Eyes

Neither the General nor the Mail tab have a setting for changing how often mail

RE: how to get desktop shortcuts in single column

2016-12-21 Thread Rebecca Lineberger via Talk
Control-shift 5 will give you a list view, all in one column. Control-shift
6 will give you a column list you can arrow down through with details of
size and date. If you want the original icon viewback, press control 3 for
medium icons.
This view may be necessary when you want to rename a shortcut, for example.

I have it working on one computer, but not another one.

Get to Options by pressing, one at a time, Alt, F, T, whereupon you'll be in

Neither the General nor the Mail tab have a setting for changing how often
mail is retrieved, at least not that I could find.

But i tried a demo of jaws too expensive for me.
I’m not rich and can’t afford it.
I like window eyes cause they had a lease to option.

I for one have already been working on getting more familiar with NVDA,
mostly because for the life of me I still cannot get my version of WE to
read documents in Word 2010 despite trying the steps in the various related
articles in the knowledge base and NVDA will read them. I do hope that WE
will continue to be around but I'm preparing for the worst by trying to
learn NVDA. I absolutely will not go back to using the Shark.

Pam,

User windows are a very powerful feature that are really more or less
scripting in another form. Unfortunately everyone ignored them because they
weren't called scripting.

You can create standard windows relative to screen coordinates or floating
windows that automatically adjust their coordinates based on several
different things. You can make them speak with a hot key or make them speak
automatically or make them silent. You can tie them to specific colors, have
them watch for highlighting, or not, and on and on.

Then there are hyperactive windows. These monitor the defined area in many
different ways and can react in many different ways, e.g. say something,
speak a window, execute a hot key, load a set file, and on and on.

I remember how everyone was so excited when scripting was introduced. I only
shook my head thinking we had a lot of that power from the beginning through
these windows. It was amazing how some jumped on scripting while prior to
its introduction everyone seemed to scream and run every time I mentioned
user windows.

You won't even see them in the control panel unless "Show advanced options"
is checked under the Help menu.

Regards,
Tom
