Re: unable to proofread WLM emails
Hi Robert, Thanks for the suggestions. As I am writing this it seems to be working. Although, when first trying it it did not work for me. However, after a re-boot it is now working and I hope it will continue. I have even been able to edit this paragraph as well.Smile! Grin! Laugh out loud!!! Much thanks! Re: unable to proofread WLM emails
So when you use f7, Window-eyes doesn't tell you the first word in question? I hear something like, check word, and then it reads the word in question. I tab down to the list of possible correct words and I arrow through the list of possibilities. Then I tab to either replace r--button, or ignore--i buttonu On 12/29/2016 11:09 PM, Robert Ringwald wrote: > I use WLM and F87 is the spell check command in WLM also. > > -Bob > > > -Original Message- From: Nick Sarames via Talk > Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2016 8:02 PM > To: Robert Ringwald ; Window-Eyes Discussion List > Subject: Re: unable to proofread WLM emails > > This probably won'v help - I use Thunderbird for my e-mail client. Re: echo dot
You are not correct on the first two answers. I do not have a smart phone and set the echo up using my computer. Secondly, I have an echo, and I also have the dot which has a line out which is the main reason I bought it. It can be hooked to line in on my sound card or stereo. Don't have a clue why you thought you need a smart phone, absolutely not so, I don't have one nor do I wqant one. 73 Butch WA0VJR Node 3148 Wallace, ks. The thing is that, on the Windows 7 machine, when I open Network and arrow through the list of PCs, the two machines show up, but they don't appear as branches in a tree called Home Group, well, not until I click on the word Home Group which is in the header area near the top of the window. RE: a windows 7 network issue
Hi Lee, You are still connected to your Home Group, as are the other computers. The problem is a display issue within the Network window. With Network open, route your mouse pointer to the top left of the Network window, and then use the mouse line down command to come down one line at a time until you find Home Group. When you find it, use the mouse left-click button to click it, and then you'll see the computers in the Home Group lined up under each other. Note that this is a tree view, and so the Network screen is attempting to arrange the various devices within the different networks which you are connected to hierarchically. unable to proofread WLM emails
Hi Listers, Using a win7, 32bit desktop pc: When I am writiing or ansering an email I am unable to proofread what I am writing in Windows Live Mail. This also means that my braille edge display is blank. I was under the impression that the command alt-space x would solve the problem but it does not. Also, moving off the email and back again does not seem to help the problem. Any helpful suggestions will be grately appreciated. Also, my apologies for any typos. Smile! RE: a windows 7 network issue
thanks steve, one question, the wrid thing is that the computer can still connect to set up shortcuts on other pc folders. for example, I have a shortcut set up, via the network to a folder on the other pc's hard drive. that still work. but it is not showing the other pc in the network listings. so it can still see it but the computer listings in network itself are not there to access other not shortuctted folders. does this mmake a difference to what you suggested, as it is obviously still seeing the pc, but not showing it in network. thanks for the help. ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. RE: a windows 7 network issue
First, make sure other machines on the network are still showing that they are part of the home group. If they are, I would try reconnecting to your home group. It sounds as though you may have gotten disconnected. If you type the word "home" in the start menu, you should see a result for Home Group and for fixing problems with Home Group. Open Home group and try "Leaving Home group" and then Joining Home group. You will need your Home Group password. This may sound ridiculous, but be sure your computer that suddenly lost the home group is connecting to the same network. I had a problem once where one of my computers could not find my home group, and it turned out it had connected to another wireless network I had forgotten was still active. Most of the dumb suggestions I have are a result of things that have happened to me. Hi, Small correction. You don't need a smart phone or tablet to work with Alexa. As long as your computer has a wifi connection you can go to alexa.amazon.com and configure it there. -Original Message- From: Talk [mailto:talk-bounces+cgrabowski=aisquared@lists.window-eyes.com] On Behalf Of Chris Skarstad via Talk Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2016 3:35 PM To: Don Smith ; Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: Re: echo dot hi. well this really doesn't relate to Window-eyes at all. but... i'll answer the questions after each one. > > > Once I connect to theinternet, then the questions. > > > > First > > Can I connect to my computer and if so, where The echo dot is not meant to connect to your computer in any way at all, it's a stand-alone device that requires you to have a wireless network. It should certainly work. You'll need to tell the Alexa app your location so it'll find the weather for your location, though so you'll want to do that. The setup process is completely accessible, no sighted help is necessary at all, unless you just aren't good with a smart phone or tablet, then you might need to get some help setting things up. It all depends on your particular level of skills. I was able to set up my regular echo and the echo dot in another part of the house without any sighted help, so you can rest easy knowing it is possible to do. Re: echo dot
I don't know what the difference is if any, but I have an older echo dot. I have an echo, but it does not have a line out jack, so I bought the dot. The dot is small, about a couple inches tall and has a small speaker, not really meant for music. You plug it ito the line in on your computer or a line in jack on your stereo is what I do. If you have a song on your computer and play it, the echo dot isn't any part of that. If you tell the echo to play a song it gets it on amazon's server and is played through the dot, and if you have it plugged into a stereo amp or your sound card, it will play through there. It will give weather for various places. Their page is not really speech friendly, but it sort of works as far as settings, skills and so forth. I use mine a lot. You can play trivia crack, a couple text based adventure games, set a timer, and on and on. You can say "alexa wicopedia", and she says "what should I look up?" Write off list if you have any more questions to but...@shellworld.net or but...@fairpoint.net which will show up as from tiny puppy. Good luck. 73 Butch WA0VJR Node 3148 Wallace, ks.
