Re: setting up becky

2017-02-13 Thread Mike Rogers via Talk
Here's the two steps that were sent to me. They do the trick.

Becky works very well but you need to change two settings. In the Tools,
General setup dialog on the Message View tab, uncheck the "Control four-way
button with arrow keys" check box and the cursor will work when you are reading
messages. In the Editor tab in the same dialog, uncheck the Display line
pointer option which, if checked, can cover up the first character.

Good luck.

Re: SOMETHING STRANGE ON AMAZON.COM

2017-02-13 Thread Andy Baracco via Talk
I've had this happen when I entered the wrong login credentials. I made the
mistake of allowing IE to save an old password, and thus the site would not
accept my login even when I was entering the correct password. What worked
for me was to delete the browsing history and to log in again entering the
correct password.

There is a number, not having to do with solving capchas, that is for people
who use screenreaders to call, and I have gotten really good help. I forget
what the words are before the number. The first person I talked to spent at
least an hour on the phone with me helping me set up my account, and put in
my first order. I have so far, spoken to four people, three of which have
southern accents. I asked two of them where they were, and they said West
Virginia. When I apologized for taking so long, I was told "That's what we
are here for." Pam.

Hi:

Every so often, Amazon will do this if you have to log in more than they
like.

They used to provide an audio equivalent, but, last time, they seemed to
have removed it. They have a link that says something like, "Visually
impaired or can't see the image", but, when you click that, you have to call
a number and they can give you a code to override.

Amazon has given visually impaired folks only a token acknowledgement, and,
they have never showed that they care much about the visually impaired.

Seems like they are performing some kind of security checking on you.
Some websites do this kind of checking once in a while, on arbitrarily
customers. Hopefully they do not intend to do this every time you log on to
their services, in the coming.

First thing I would do, is to go to the address bar of the browser, and just
make sure it really is an Amazon address. This just to ensure you have not
been hi-jacked, and redirected to some fake service.

Next, you could try accessing the site, from Firefox with WebVisum. If this
is a mere periodic check you should be able to logon using the captcha once,
and then be good to go from any browser later on. Is it, on the other hand,
a newwly introduced standard routine of theirs, you might have to
permanently log on to their services from now on, with Firefox.

Does Amazon have any customer care service line, either by phone or mail? If
so, it could be worth to contact them, and ask if they have any solution in
place for visually impaired people.

What is inter alia? You have that written after amazon.com with a space
before it like it is a separate two words. I just use the regular

I was on the site was yesterday, so I can't say whether they changed it
