And it also seems that you can cite its Focus Braille Displays as a product
line developing a reputation, but not improved upon. And: remember their
PacMate?

This latest Window-Eyes update is really an essential fix to keep it
running, and the same was required for Zoomtext. Speaking of which:
launched at CSUN with reasonable publicity, Fusion seems already to be in
the doldrums?

With all the old GW people now gone, maybe WE will continue as a product for
some time but will it actually be improved upon or just patched to keep it
running.
An example as how VFO works is that another product Open Book is being sold
and it does work but it very seldom gets any meaningful updates to improve
it.

Hello. has anyone including the AI Squared staff really looked at the
latest version of iTunes lately? I did try the latest version and it
freezes up window eyes. I don't know why. I think in the program files
there are a lot more stuff including stuff about java so someone should
really look at this. I know the app has not been updated in a while. For
now am on an old version 12.5.5. The next version up 12.6.100 could use
fixing or at least if someone could take a look at it on their machine.
I am on a windows7 machine. I don't get it why in version 12.5.5 it
works great with no problems but in 12.6.100 it freezes and locks up my
computer. I even emailed Apple accessibility to let them know what I am
experiencing and we are talking back and forth, but so far nothing that
will resolve anything. I hope the next update will fix those issues.

for me. One showed it was non-tandum while the other did not mension

There was no mention, that I could find anyway, that these were the

Is it only in the type of registration that indicates whether it is the
Home or Pro version?

Thanks

Open a new mail or reply to a mail: then perform alt tab twice and the focus

fb chat with windoweyes

2015-10-31 Thread Davy Cuppens via Talk

Hi folks

I tried miranda to chat on fb with windoweyesbut I believe this program
nolonger works. There is no fb plugin or source and even if you take
messenger to set up the profiele, you even don't get edit fields to type a
username or password.
Are there possibilities to do accessible fb chats in windoweyes or must we
simply decide that WE has no solution to make fb chats?

Re: Introducing Virtual View 5.0

2015-11-05 Thread Davy Cuppens via Talk
Maybe i Understand some critics but Aaron is in my opinion right and had
stated the things in an understandable way. I would just say the opposite
here. I find it a bit a pitty seeing how few people have at least
intermediate notice of their screenreader at all.
In the reactions one could conclude that many people here don't even have
notice that windoweyes is shipped with many apps that besides the user
interface of the screenreader, are built to ease the work of so many third
part programs running on a computer.
Like my distributor always says in a joking way, please read at least one
time the f*cking manual of the programs you buy or get. Maybe we should all
do this a bit more and that could lead to a better knowledge and less own
frustrations.

Again great work Aisquared.

Hi Louis,

In Aaron's defense, he is a developer, not a trainer or an instructional
designer. So, we should try to appreciate the work he has done and help him
improve VirtualView so it is as good as it can be. Constructive criticism
and feedback is always welcomed. If Ai Squared had unlimited time and
resources, he would have been able to delegate the announcement to someone
like me who could have tried to present the information differently and from
the perspective of a novice user. With all that said, I really like your
suggestion. As time permits, I will try to develop either a step by step
tutorial or a webinar to cover VirtualView in more detail. Thanks for your
patience and understanding.

Well, How to start the thing going was exactly one of the missing pieces in
Aaron's announcement. But also, We need to know under what circumstances
should we find that we would need Virtual View, and what prep would we need
to set up the image, or the situation, or whatever, before invoking Virtual
View. And, can we save the results, or edit and save the results? In short,
I think we need a good demo, [Mark] with more than one or two examples, a

Hi All,

Maybe this will help.
As you know window eyes has free apps that you can install and run with we.
They do all kinds of things like help get access to many windows programs,
help access all kinds of things etc.
Example: You can check the weather, you can get better access to outlook the
Microsoft email program and more.
Well, virtual view another free wineyes app has been upgraded with some of
the most useful features you could imagine.
So, use the free app called app get and either get or update your virtual
view app.
Then try out the new features Aaron and others are mentioning below.
Example: I just pressed ctrl-alt-v and launched the virtual view app.
I then was able to tab through the apps settings/features.
I cut and pasted a pdf file in to the Virtual View window and wow it did OCR
on the file and I could read just the text.
This is way cool, check it out and rely on your friends / users on this list
to learn more and get answers.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Sam

worked flawlessly until 9.2, and now it's broken. Do any of you guys

hope this can be figured out. Apple got it figured out with the IOS

You can also use SAPI.

If you are using Eloquence or Vocalizer Expressive and have not purchased

After trying and trying I finally managed to get webvisum working again in

Here is an interesting point to make if you use lets say
window eyes for a bit and then want to switch to NVDA after you have
gotten done using NVDA and shut NVDA off and turn on window eyes the
browsers no matter if you are using internet explorer, fire fox, or
google crome you have to always go out of the browser because you have
no browse mode to rely on this is something that has been happening
since window eyes 9.0 through 9.3

After a reboot the problem is solved, but it is frustrating.

I would be hesitant about basing your entire opinion on the success of this
version on the posts of a troubleshooting list. Remember that you're
subscribed to a discussion list where people report issues they're having
with the software. Rarely do you hear success stories through this kind of
medium. I can tell you that the number of people having issues due to
legitimate problems in the Window-Eyes installation itself are vastly
outnumbered by those having success. That's not to minimize the problems
they're having, mind you. But rather to point out that things are, by the
numbers, going very well for Window-Eyes 9.4.

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi Marc

It went the same way like you mentioned here in Belgium, I needed to start
NVDA to complete installation.

One question I have not meant as critics: maybe if this package had been
betatested, the less problems people should have encountered. I am sure that
for advanced windows users like you and me, it is only a little annoyance
but we will overcome, but for maybe some beginners this is really difficult
stuff.

I helped a client download and install the 9.5.1 update on two machines this
morning. One was a Windows 7 desktop and the other was a Windows 10 laptop.
I always go to the update website and download the installer instead of
choosing the option that runs the update as soon as it is downloaded. Using
this strategy seems to lessen the chance of issues but does not eliminate
them altogether.
For example, after installing the update on the Windows 7 PC and rebooting,
Window-Eyes was not reading anything useful. It wouldn't read the Desktop,
Start Menu or Window-Eyes control panel. It would only echo keystrokes when
they were pressed. We then launched NVDA just so we could restart the PC.
After the second reboot, Window-Eyes came up talking and everything was
working as expected. The update went flawlessly on the Windows 10 laptop.
No issues at all.

Best,
Marc

bug still persists - wlm causes brail devices to stop without notice

2016-07-28 Thread Davy Cuppens via Talk
Hi folks

The subject says it all. When working in WLM, sometimes for unknown reasons,
the brail display stops working at all. The only thing you can do is stopping
and rebooting wineyes.

When enabled, this feature allows you to see blank lines, paragraph marks,

Subject: WE 9.5.1: spaces and newlines reading wrong in Outlook2013

Hi,

I upgraded to WE 9.5.1 yesterday and, shortly afterwards, was composing an
email. I noticed that, when moving around in the text of the email,
Window-Eyes now reads space characters as bullets and new-line characters as
paragraphs. That is to say that it speaks "bullet" when I arroe-key past a
space and "paragraph" when I move the cursor to a new-line.

Is this a bug in 9.5.1's Outlook support? Or do I have a setting off
somewhere? This wasn't happening in 9.4.

Thanks,

Keith

ofWindow-Eyes 9

This message serves as your friendly reminder that today's free training
webinar will begin promptly at 2 PM EDT. All of the details you will need to
participate can be found below.

Window-Eyes 9, released earlier this year, includes many new features,
product enhancements and bug fixes. The big change in Window-Eyes that
everyone is talking about is a brand new Browse Mode that enables
comprehensive access to the dynamic and feature rich websites that have
become ubiquitous on the Web.

Don't miss this opportunity to receive free training on the new Browse Mode
and at the same time gain a better understanding of how to access complex
web pages with Window-Eyes. In addition, attendees will also learn about
other notable features introduced in Window-Eyes 9 that can help increase
productivity and independence.

Whether you are a seasoned veteran, or a beginner to Window-Eyes, our hope
is that Ai Squared's online training webinars will enhance your Window-Eyes
skill set and provide you with the helpful information you need to be more
productive and successful on your computer.

The training webinar will take place on Thursday, March 12th, 2015 at 2 P.M.
Eastern Time (19:00 UTC or 18:00 UTC during DST) and will last approximately
one hour in length.

To access the webinar, go to http://www.aisquared.com/meeting. Your username
will be your first and last name. The password field should be left blank.
You do not have to register for the training. Please arrive early as there
is a limited amount of participants for each webinar, and access to the
meeting room is based on a first-come, first-served basis!

There will be a corresponding study guide worksheet and answer key made
available prior to the webinar that participants can download from the
webinar training archive.

Please review Knowledge Base Article 2056 to
learn more about participating in an Ai Squared Indiana Webinar with Talking
Communities. If you need help accessing the meeting room, please call
Talking Communities support at (262) 456-5911.

The webinar will be recorded and made available for download from the
webinar training archive.

If you have specific questions regarding this online training webinar or
have suggestions for future webinar topics, please contact Marc Solomon via
email at msolomon at aisquared dot com.

Kind Regards,

problem starting outlook 2013 in normal mode

2015-05-19 Thread Davy Cuppens via Talk

Hi folks

Last month I bought online the office365 version of office 2013 with a valid
payed license so that I can use the windoweyes for office offer. I am
encountering problems to use outlook 2013. Each time I try to start the
program, after some 10 seconds it tells me that outlook does not react and
Window-eyes stops working too. When starting nvda above it, I manage to
close the program and WE is acting normally again.
Now when I restart outlook I get a message that an error has occured and
whether to decide to use safe mode or not. If I don't, outlook and WE do
crash again. If I do, Outlook starts normally but in safe mode. I never
manage to run the program running in normal mode even not without any
screenreader running with sighted help.
I googled the problem and it came out that there could maybe be some
conflicts with apps or add-ons using outlook in the background.

Are there any known issues of this kind with WE and outlook 2013?
I am using win7 64 bits, Ccleaner, Microsoft security essentials and malware
bytes to clean and protect my system.

Regards
Davy

Hi Rod,
Not sure about Windows 10, but when I went to 8.0 from 7 I had to remove
Window-eyes before doing the upgrade.
You can press windows-enter to start and stop narrator in 8.1 and later.
More than likely you'll be at the setup your computer screen and Narrator
should work enough to get you to the desktop to reinstall Windows, again,
you can use windows-enter as a toggle.

Hi Darrell,

Do you mind answering a couple of questions?
Is it possible to just upgrade to Windows 10 from a copy of Windows 7 Home

If Window-Eyes needs to be reinstalled, what would I need to do in order to
get to a place where I have screen reader access via Narrator?
I certainly appreciate any feedback. Smile

I am using the preview, and it is accessible. There are some issues of

be careful when moving between builds, because if you are microsoft office
