App Updates - RodWinamp, RodClock and RodWinampWithRodClock
Hi everyone, Because VFO is no longer permitting app updates, I have set up a shared public folder where you can find versions of my apps newer than those on App Central. The URL of this folder is: http://bit.ly/2gX64M0 Please read the package info for any app you install from this folder, since it will contain details of the update. There is no need to check this folder to see if there is an update since I will send an email to the talk list to notify you that an update has been posted to the folder. Should the talk list disappear, I will post notifications of app updates to Dennis's list at: windoweyesus...@groups.io<mailto:windoweyesus...@groups.io> Please note that the "Check for update" feature built into all apps will only check to see if the current app is newer than the version on App Central, and so this will not really help you. Now, allow me to say that my shared public folder contains a zip archive holding three apps which are newer than those on App Central. They are bundled into a single zip archive because they are related by their use of Winamp. Feel free to share my apps with your fellow Window-Eyes users. Thanks, and enjoy, Rod Hutton ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. RE: App updates
Hi guys, Although I forced to switch to jaws about two months ago both at home and at work but especially at work I also often found myself in a situation where I have to revert back to the venerable window-eyes because this Jaws does not support well one of our company's custom made application. This application is called Time Recording System (trs) and both WE and NVDA work pretty well with it, but Jaws is difficult at best with this application. Take care but I guess that now, nothing can revive the dead corpse of WE. Chief Dennis, on groups.io, isn't it possible to upload files for members to gain access to? If I'm close to being right, perhaps Rod's apps could be uploaded to the groups.io list you created for Window-Eyes and we can all go there and grab them! What do you think sir? Re: App updates
I use it most all the time. The only time I switch to jaws is if I am reading emails that come from yahoo groups. I am having that problem where they don't track propperly. I got the window eyes people to reinstall it for me and it fixed the problem. Every time they did it for me, it fixed the problem. But when I installed it, or had my tech install it, the problem came back. I had to have the computer reformatted, and when he did, and installed it for me, the problem is back. When he installed it on my laptop I bought, it also has the problem. Last time I called, I said I had a problem with window eyes. They kept me waiting for about two hours, and the guy they gave me was a jaws guy. Re: App updates
Love this app! I have totally disabled AppGet because it kept trying to run when I would type the occasional letter "g" and I couldn't find what I wanted with all of the categories. When you know the name of an app, the search box worked fine, but if the name was not known, it made it difficult to find things. The Install Packages App works great and the apps are all in a list that is alphabetical. Re: App updates
I got my app updates from the central website using app get and just went down the list and checked all the ones that I thought I needed I hit the check for updates and usually there was one if you don't find any just by using the laptop command double tap to start dictation to finger double tap when finished you should go to the website using Windows G and go through the list. I know this is tedious but… That's the way I had to do it thanks much. Jo Taliaferro On Apr 19, 2017, at 12:06 PM, Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc. via Talk wrote: Well, well, well! Re: App updates
Not so. I tried it, and the only app that comes up as outdated, is the Hourly Chime. Once that single app was updated, no more outdated apps. So how come the initial poster told us he had something like 20 updates? Something on his computer. and yes, I did exactly use the AppGet feature and the Outdated view. Have tried it several times, and it reports no outdated apps. Even if this is first attempt in about a month. So just wondering the whole thing. But, how come? AISquared? I do see the latest version of Window-Eyes also states that. If the new owner is VFO, why not have it updated to stating VFO? RE: App updates
Hi Paulette, Actually, this is not true. Today's updates, and I've counted 37 in all, change the release date of each app to today, April 17, 2017, and change the author's name to AI Squared from GW Micro. Use AppGet or go to App Central, and check out the details for one of your installed apps, to see what I mean. Note, however, that the version numbers for most of the apps has not changed, and so you won't be prompted to update. One of the developer apps, Immed, has had a version number change, but I doubt whether there's been any functional improvement; at least, none is described in the package preview. So, in short, this is simply house-keeping by AI Squared/VFO. I only learned about these updates because I follow AI Squared on Twitter, and, each time an app update occurs, it is tweeted.
