Re: [Talk-at] Unpaved cycleways in Austria?

Hi,

2015-05-03 21:10 GMT+02:00 Markus Straub markus.straub...@gmail.com:

It's complicated, but I hope this helps a bit.

Thanks, it's definitely helped me. I figured out a new marking for unpaved
cyclepaths.

Now I have ran into a problem with the following way:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/8080548

Based on the wiki page http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Bicycle this
tagging is doubtful to me, because it's very similar to *M2d*, so
cycleway:right=lane
+ oneway:bicycle=no suggests that there is a cycle lane on the right side
usable in both directions. I think it would be clearer without the
oneway:bicycle=no tag (see *M1*).

You can see the problem on my map
http://merretekerjek.hu/#zoom=17lat=48.20662lon=16.39034scope=varosban:
the lane is rendered with thick line what means usable in both directions.

What do you think, is it a tagging issue or should I change my mind?

P.S.: what's the URL of your cyclemap? I'm interested in your project!

http://merretekerjek.hu

The UI language is hungarian only at present. It's a detailed map and
course creator (route planner) based on the Brouter engine. The map style
based on osm.org but a lot of bicycle-specific markings are added, too much
to list in this mail - check out an area where you have local knowledge and
some will become clear.
The map style is rather functional than a nice one. My purpose is to
provide a detailed map fits for everyday use but help OSM editors to catch
incorrect tagging as well. It might shows more than average joe needs.
Currently the markings are too fuzzy at some places in Austria for my
taste, because there is much higher bicycle facility density than I was
used but I'm trying to adapt.

The code isn't on github yet, but that's the way to go, just need some time
to consolidate the project.

Sorry for the late reply but I can pay attention to this project only in my
spare time.

Can you tell me are those official cycleways marked with a traffic sign
 http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:120px-Zeichen_237.svg.png in
Austria? Do the same rules apply to those as to the common cycleways in
the city? Are those designated for cyclists?

In Hungary we've cycle routes on unpaved roads of course but that's
never a cycleway, just a cycle route or recommended way for cyclists
 (traffic sign http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:KRESZ-KPU.png)
on an unpaved highway, or an unpaved highway suitable for cycling (but
not designated for cyclists). If you found some with overpass that's
 just incorrect labeling.

Once a block has been made, I would also expect a notice to be placed

Finally since the current bock includes email disabled, cannot edit

[OSM-talk] Junction assessment help

2015-05-10 Thread pmailkeey .
Hi All,

This junction
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=51.33590mlon=0.05398#map=19/51.33590/0.05398
to
me is a T junction. It's complicated by the fact that one arm of it has a
tree in the middle of the road - and therefore has been mapped as having 2
ways for the one road.

Is this junction correctly mapped ?

I'd have thought the T would be 'normal' and then the road split to pass
either side of the tree. The two ways have been tagged as one way streets -
which they're not - they're just 2 sides of one street. To add to the
confusion, 'NO ENTRY' has been painted on the road surface - but this does
not make it a one way street either!

I look forward to comments, suggestions and even someone doing a correction
on the junction, thanks.

Re: [OSM-talk] Broken coastline

2015-05-10 Thread Mike Thompson
I am considering an edit involving natural=coastline involving the Great
Lakes that are shared between the US and Canada. This has been discussed
on the Talk-US and Talk-Ca lists and there have been no objections to date.

Background:
Lake Superior is represented both with individual ways tagged
natural=coastline (although not all islands have their ways tagged
natural=coastline), as well as *two* multipolygon relations tagged
natural=water (this tag has been removed from the one relation already)
with some islands members having a role of inner. The first (for the
purpose of the discussion) relation seems to include the entire outline of
the lake, but not all of the islands, particularly on the Canadian side.
The second includes only the outline of the lake on the Canadian side, and
the part of the border between the US and Canada that runs through the
lake. It appears that this second relation does include all, or nearly
all, of the islands on the Canadian side. Representing the lake and its
islands in these multiple manners seems to cause rendering issues.

Proposed Course of action.
1) Download Canadian Lake Superior relation and all its members to JOSM.
2) Make sure every individual member way is tagged natural=coastline
(except the way(s) that form the boundary between Canada and the US.
3) Make sure every individual way has land on the left. (except the US
Canadian border that runs through the lake).
4) Remove natural=water from the Canadian relation
5) Upload.

Later
6) Make sure all members of the Canadian relation appear in the overall
relation (or that their purpose is filled my some other member(s) of the
overall relation.
7) Delete the Canadian relation.

Comments are welcome.

Technical advice is welcome, e.g. how to easily find island ways that go
clockwise (water on the left)

Note overlaps between waterway=riverbank areas and the coastline are
generally not an issue and are also not really that uncommon (classic
and long term case for that it the Elbe in northern Germany) - they of
course complicate things a bit and can be misleading for mappers.

Please, everybody: If you are doing something with the coastlines,
take extra care. Coastlines are fragile, have special taggging rules
unlike anything else in OSM and if you break them in only one place,
chances are coastlines updates for the whole world will stop!

Indeed. And if you have a complex coastline situation like when you
need to add or remove the coastline tag to/from a larger water area and
have not done something like this before just leave the coastline
mapping as it is and add a fixme tag indicating what should be changed
and place a note asking for help doing that.

Zdar,

poslední dobou si často všímám, že zmíněné cyklotrasy vedou jinudy, anebo v

KČT zrušilo původní trasu č. 4 Brno-Vídeň a namísto toho protáhlo trasu č. 5
z
Brna dál, a tuto nově zaznačilo společně s EV9 a Greenway K-M-W.

be blocked from editing, or suchlike), and a statement of what the
user should do differently, or not do, in order to avoid the bock.

I do not think discussions which might reasonably be interpreted as
mere differences of opinion, as currently seen on Xxzme's talk page,
suffice in this regard. Likewise the four-month old notice from
January (where, I note, Xxzme's question went unanswered)

We might also consider imposing edit restrictions (e.g. You may not
move pages; you will be blocked if you edit war; this will be reviewed
after 3 months).

Once a block has been made, I would also expect a notice to be placed
on their talk page, stating clearly why, how to appeal, and how to
request an unblock (You may be unblocked if you give a statement that
you will not do X again).

Finally since the current bock includes email disabled, cannot edit
own talk page (were either of those privileges ever abused? If not,
that part of the block should be rescinded ASAP.), it does not seem
possible for Xxzme to discuss how they might make a return to
productive editing.

Re: [Talk-de] Eigene OSM-Karte mit Overpass

2015-05-10 Thread Markus

Hallo Rainer,

geschafft.

Vielleicht können wir ja zusammen das OL-HowTo
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DE:Karte_in_Webseite_einbinden

Layer?

Dort könnte man folgendes darstellen:

var layer = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector(layername, {
 protocol: new OpenLayers.Protocol.HTTP({
 url:
body;;out skel qt;',
 format: new OpenLayers.Format.OSM({ignoreExtraDims: true}),
 projection: new OpenLayers.Projection(EPSG:4326)

 }),
 strategies: [new OpenLayers.Strategy.Fixed()],
 projection: map.displayProjection,
 extractAttributes: true,
 styleMap: new OpenLayers.StyleMap({
 default: new OpenLayers.Style({
 externalGraphic: icon,
 graphicWidth:21,
 graphicHeight:25,
 graphicXOffset:-10,
 graphicYOffset:-25 ,
 graphicZIndex: 1
 },
 OpenLayers.Feature.Vector.style[default])
 }),
});

Markus

[OSM-talk] Broken coastline

2015-05-10 Thread Jochen Topf
Hi!

For about 10 days the coastline has been broken and no updates have been going
through. This is largely due to some broken mapping in North America where
coastlines overlap and some features have been tagged both as coastline and
waterways, which doesn't make any sense at all. Please whoever has been working
on this read up on how coastlines are supposed to be tagged at
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:natural=coastline and fix this.

Please, everybody: If you are doing something with the coastlines, take extra
care. Coastlines are fragile, have special taggging rules unlike anything else
in OSM and if you break them in only one place, chances are coastlines updates
for the whole world will stop!

[OSM-talk] Looking for maps with rendered toll status

I am looking for examples how toll status of roads is displayed on
existing maps. I am considering rendering toll status in
openstreetmap-carto. But I have no good ideas how it may be done and I
failed to find maps displaying this data by using a different style for
roads. I found only London Congestion Charge Zone displayed by Bing, but
not as a difference in road style and it would be hard to use this idea
- see

misunderstanding - see

Re: [Talk-at] Unpaved cycleways in Austria?

2015-05-10 Thread Pallai Roland

2015-05-10 19:57 GMT+02:00 Pallai Roland pall...@magex.hu:

The map style
based on osm.org but a lot of bicycle-specific markings are added, too
much to list in this mail - check out an area where you have local
knowledge and some will become clear.

The code isn't on github yet, but that's the way to go, just need some
 time to consolidate the project.

Sorry for the late reply but I can pay attention to this project only in
 my spare time.

If you found some with overpass that's
 just incorrect labeling.

chi gestisce questi parchi e riserve (nei casi sopra rispettivamente WWF e
Fondazione Gran Paradis).

schwere Geschütze, zumal oft keine echten Grenzlinien existieren.

Finally since the current bock includes email disabled, cannot edit

that part of the block should be rescinded ASAP.), it does not seem
possible for Xxzme to discuss how they might make a return to
 productive editing.

Re: [OSM-talk] Please ban Xxzme in wiki

Hi,

On 05/10/2015 02:47 PM, Andy Mabbett wrote:

Frankly I don't view the Wiki as an appropriate way to discuss anything
and welcome Xxzme to discuss things on this mailing list if they so desire.

[Talk-cz] Přeznačení cyklotrasy č. 5, EV9 a GW K-M-W

2015-05-10 Thread Tomas Janousek
Zdar,

KČT zrušilo původní trasu č. 4 Brno-Vídeň a namísto toho protáhlo trasu č. 5 z
Brna dál, a tuto nově zaznačilo společně s EV9 a Greenway K-M-W.

2015-05-10 Thread Christoph Hormann

what the user should do differently, or not do, in order to avoid the
 bock. [...]

Please have a look at past interactions of Xxzme with users on the wiki
and discussion here in the recent thread

Problems with the wiki (was Why OSM and not another collaborative
mapping service?)

This does not come unexpected and the end of Xxzme's current editing
pattern has been called for by a lot of people based on the clear
impression from various sides that Xxzme is immune to any attempts of
productive social interaction. There has been a previous one month
block with no visible change in interaction and recently a lot of clear
communications that Xxzme's behaviour needs to change but as Frederik
put it short of a miracle I don't see that happening - which is an
assessment shared by many. AFAIK no single opinion has been voiced
indicating that anyone has successfully and productively interacted
with Xxzme on the wiki.

My suggestion to those with an admin position on the wiki is that if the
ban is lifted after 3 months and if Xxzme continues editing then it is
closely monitored if there is a change in social interaction with other
wiki editors to avoid the situation getting again as unbearable and
damaging for the atmosphere on the wiki as it was now.

Re: [OSM-talk] Broken coastline

2015-05-10 Thread Christoph Hormann
On Sunday 10 May 2015, Jochen Topf wrote:
 Hi!

For about 10 days the coastline has been broken and no updates have
been going through. This is largely due to some broken mapping in
North America where coastlines overlap and some features have been
tagged both as coastline and waterways, which doesn't make any sense
 at all.

[Talk-it] Estrarre coordinate nodi da relazione

2015-05-10 Thread Federico Cortese
Ciao a tutti,
Grazie
