Re: [talk-ph] Fwd: [OSM-talk] Installing your own tileserver on Ubuntu
This sounded so good, I thought I'd give it a go this afternoon. However the commands given as typed in the email don't work. I'd recommend reading the long version at the wiki page he references later on: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Ubuntu_tile_server Specifically I found these problems: - After adding the repository, you need to do an 'apt-get update' before the next step. - Very IMPORTANT. He doesn't mention the configuration step after installing libapache2-mod-tile. According to the wiki you need to add your own username after www-data in order to import data. As I didn't do this, the renderer did not work. I've also spent about two hours trying to re-configure this setting, and can't find out how to do it. So, yes, read the wiki first. - The osm2pgsql misses out the --slim command line element. I also found that I needed to reduce the memory usage, having only 1Gb in my laptop. The --verbose helped as well. so: osm2pgsql --slim --cache 300 --verbose philippines.osm.pbm So what could have been a five minute wonder install has now turned into a three hour marathon for me due to bad instructions. Read the wiki. Jim Eugene Alvin Villar wrote, On Monday, 10 October, 2011 07:07 AM: Hi guys, This sounds interesting. Rendering and making tiles just for the Philippines is viable on a desktop or even a laptop since the PBF file for the country is only 27 MB. Eugene -- Forwarded message -- From: *Kai Krueger* kakrue...@gmail.com mailto:kakrue...@gmail.com Date: Mon, Oct 10, 2011 at 6:13 AM Subject: [OSM-talk] Installing your own tileserver on Ubuntu To: t...@openstreetmap.org mailto:t...@openstreetmap.org Hello everyone, with the recent need to crack down on tile scrapers and apps to not over tax the main OSM tileservers and hosting, there has been a lot of talk trying to convince people to set up their own tileserver. Although that is of cause by far not the only hurdle to set up your own tileserver, one barrier is perhaps the perceived complicated procedure to set up all the elements necessary. Although there are a number of decent howtos already available on the wiki (perhaps even to many, each containing slightly different advice...), it is perhaps still more effort than people want to get into. In the hope to make this process even simpler, I have created a bunch of packages for Ubuntu containing all the necessary software, as well as glue packages to deal with the necessary setup and interaction between the different components. The packages aren't perfect yet, but hopefully sufficiently helpful already to be of use to others who are interested in playing around with their own tileserver. A simple standard tileserver can now be setup in 5 commands in a terminal: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kakrueger/openstreetmap sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-tile wget http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/north-america/us/colorado.osm.pbf osm2pgsql http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/north-america/us/colorado.osm.pbf%0Aosm2pgsql -C 1500 colorado.osm.pbf sudo /etc/init.d/renderd restart At the end you should have a working tileserver based on mod_tile and renderd with the standerd OSM-mapnik stylesheet. You can test it out by opening the installed slippymap at http://localhost/osm/slippymap.html You will of cause want to replace the above lines with the downloading and importing of an extract with the extract you care about. Although for smaller areas hardware requirements aren't too bad, they quickly go up beyond what can be handled by a standard desktop computer. My rough guestimate of what a typical desktop / laptop can handle is about an extract of 100 - 300 Mb (no more than an hours worth of import). This covers most of the US and German states, as well as many of the other less densely mapped countries. If you are more serious about your tileserver, you will need to tune the various configuration settings, but just to play around and for personal use, the default settings should work reasonable. More information can be found on yet another wiki-page... Can this be documented on the wiki ? That happens when you use the name=* tag for the network name on these routes. As with cycle node networks, don't use the name=* tag on the routes. I believe the Wiki should be changed and in stead of the node tag, a name or ref tag should be used. See also this discussion.: http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-be/2011-August/002213.html At the end I asked for a feature request on the website of Open Street Map and Potlatch, to have more info beside the meaningless relation id numbers. http://trac.openstreetmap.org/ticket/4017 As you can see this note tag is an abuse and will never be supported by the website or Potlatch. I don't know or understand the rationale for the note tag either, but find the name tag as proposed in the talk, much more convenient (as also demonstrated by the2 lonvia links from the TS). The listings on the website will be more meaningful http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/1641610 in opposite to Rivierenland http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/1698153 Same goes when you want to add a street to an existing relation. In the dropdown, you see only id numbers and so you can not see which is the right relation to add to. When they are named it is much more obvious. And a second thing to change would be the addition of the endpoints in the routes as described by the Wiki. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Cycle_Node_Network_Tagging#.28B.29_Route_tagging This has no function at all and it is not provided for bike and foot routes to have node members. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation:route#Members (nodes are only for PT routes as stop, ...) It is also superfluous, because the roads at start and end contains these points already. For the network relation, which groups all routes , there you could find some sense in it to have the nodes listed. Another question is regarding the name of those networks. Apparently, the name of the brochure (see http://www.wandelroutes.org/wandelnetwerk.htm ) does not always match the name on the signposts. E.g. Kempense Heuvelrug (brochure) is Antwerpse Kempen (signposts) In het land van Stille Waters (brochure) is Scheldeland (signposts) Which name is preferred ? Should we somehow mention both names ? Or is e.g. Antwerpse Kempen a superset of the Kempense Heuvelrug ? Use the one on the signposts. In fact there are only few bike node networks in Belgium (Flanders actually). They are as such listed on the signposts. From most networks, these are publicised on more than 1 map, which have then distinct titles. Eg Vlaams-Brabant has 2 networks Hageland and Groene Gordel. Hageland fits on 1 map, but Groene Gordel comes with 3 maps: Dijleland, Brabantse Kouters and Pajottenland - Zennevallei. http://www.brabantsekouters.be/gemeenten/gemeenten.asp These are also 3 regions. PolyGlot has tried to find a logic in this and tried to exclude double numbering of nodes in one network. So he invented also non-existing networks as eg Dijlelandse Kouters. http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/1726882 This should be rectified. Altough the villages are well defined for belonging to their region eg Dijleland, etc, it is not always evident for the nodes itself as some are on the borders. The maps themselves are not helping either as they make no (or not always) distinction between the different networks or even provinces. I would prefer to have 3 networks (Dijleland, Kouters and Pajottenland) in stead of one large Groene Gordel. I think it will be too big with too many nodes and routes (some in duplication) for being practical. (It may also hit the limit for maximun number of members) Also the people that live there, love their region and don't want to be part of some politically defined artificiallity. http://www.nieuwsblad.be/article/detail.aspx?articleid=DMF20111008_072 In general, I would take the divisions as listed in WikiPedia http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fietsnetwerk#Status_in_Belgi.C3.AB and put that as base in the OSM wiki http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Belgium/Cycle_Routes#Cycle_Node_Networks Regards, Gerard. Re: [Talk-de] Wie kann/sollte man Zonen-Flächen taggen?
Hallo, ... site_zone finde ich viel zu allgemein. ... ... Ergo: protect_class=13 protection_title=Umweltzone Griesbach traffic_emission_zone=1 Neben Wasserschutzgebiets-Gewinnungszonen geht es z.B. bei Nationalpark-Schutzstufen um eine „Nullnutzungszone mit „Pufferzone(n)“. also als Vorschläge bzgl. allg. Nutzung/Ausbeutung/Gewinnung # buffer_zone=* # habitat_buffer_zone=* # catchment_zone=* # water_catchment_zone=* bzgl. ...
Stunden.

Was euch den Einstieg erleichtern? Eventualmente indica la zona dove andrebbe la restrizione ;) ___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it

(in alternativa? :-( Ci ho pero' provato ora ottenendo: Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request POST /convxy/Default.aspx. Reason: Error reading from remote server ovvero il solito errore.

Converte coordinate sferiche (geografiche) in coordinate piane (cartesiane).

;) On n'a rien décidé. Philippe ___ Talk-fr mailing list Talk-fr@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-fr
