3.0.9.4: I need Threading by Refernece to be ONLY by Reference
Hello all, In mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] 9Val wrote: [*] UI : New thread sorting collaboration with new message list I, among others, asked what this meant and got no answer yet. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with a problem I discovered yesterday and that I will describe now. Most of the folders I use on a daily basis for my work use a view mode that threads by reference and is sorted in ascending order by received or created time (i.e. oldest messages on top). Yesterday I was expecting a couple of messages (replies to one I had previously sent) that, when coming in, should be sorted to an specific folder. So, every now and then I went to this folder and used my normal routine of looking at the bottom part of the folder. There were other unread messages, some threaded and some not, but I could not _see_ the ones I was expecting even when I had been assured by the sender that he had sent the messages. I know the sender uses Outlook and Exchange and his messages do not include an In-Reply-To or References header line and, therefore, his messages are _not_ threaded to mine and I can just find them at the bottom of the folder. Well, after a more detailed search of all unread messages I did find them quite at the top and _threaded_ (obviously by _Subject_) to a message dated 15-July-2003. No wonder I could not find them! To verify that this was due to 3.0.9.4 I reverted to 3.0.2.10 and there were the two messages, the last two at the _bottom_ of my folder as I was expecting. So, it looks like TB 3.0.9.4 is trying to nanny or help me with threading and if a message does not include an In-Reply-To or References header line but the Subject starts with Re:, it tries to thread it by Subject. I do not want or need this behaviour. At least it must be an option that I can consciously select or not. I have searched for such option but could not find it anywhere. -- Best regards, Miguel A. 3.0.9.4: Vertical scroll bar misalignment
Hello all, I am sure many of you have seen that sometimes the message list pane, or the account/folder tree doesn't seem to scroll properly. This is what I have verified. If vertical scroll is done by clicking on the lower arrow icon, or by using the down arrow key or even using the End key, the scroll is done correctly and it stops when the last message (or folder or account) is displayed at the bottom of the pane. But look at Scroll_1.png attached. It is certainly a great new feature that will allow me (us) to easily start a new message or a reply using a Favourite template. Great idea!! However, on doing some testing, I found something that I don't like and that I don't know if it is intended or can be considered a bug. When starting a new message selecting one of my favourite QTs the editor is opened with the selected QT contents as it should. But when I filled the To: field with a name and address from my AB (who has a New template defined), this AB template overrode the one I had selected from favourites. I don't know what others will think but, in my case, I would prefer that the template I select from favourites takes precedence over any other template, whether account, folder or AB. Hello Alexander, IIRC it was a long standing wish on BT that TB would fall back to threading by subject if it can't thread by references. As long as it is optional and I am not forced, I have no objection. To me, threadid by references means that, threading _by_ _reference_. And if a message (which appears to be a reply because of a 'Re:' in the Subject) doesn't include an In-Reply-To or References header line, it should NOT be threaded. So, as you say and to make everybody happy, maybe there should be a separate mode References + Subject. -- Best regards, Miguel A. 3.0.9.4: What's the difference between 'None' and 'Generic' colour groups?
Hello all, I have noticed that both in message list pane context menu and in Messages/Colour Group menu there are now entries for 'None' and for 'Generic Group' while this last one wasn't available (displayed) in previous versions. Is there any difference now between them? I don't think so. So, unless there is and to avoid confusion, I think the Generic Group should be removed from the menus. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Reverting back to 3.0.2.10 till next (pre-)beta
Hello all, I have been testing 3.0.9.4 for a couple of days by using it (or trying to) in my real work environment. This is the way I do test betas, trying to use them as I normally do on my every day work. I think I have raised enough issues and bugs (some more important than others) for the moment, but I now need to go back to normal production work and v3.0.9.4 is still quite far from being usable. So, I will revert now to v3.0.2.10. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: 3.0.9.4: I need Threading by Refernece to be ONLY by Reference
Hello Alexander, IIRC it was a long standing wish on BT that TB would fall back to threading by subject if it can't thread by references. In my previous reply I forgot to say that Manual Re-Threading has also been a long standing wish on BT. ;-) -- Best regards, Miguel A.
