Cannot confirm.

I printed the same message twice, it was a html/text message. Once
printed as html and once as plain text. The HTML print used a
different font (for the headers too), font size and alligning, but for
the rest it was the same as the plain text print.

Maybe its related to this:
Some days ago i had reported that tabs were disappearing for me if i
click "OK" in preferences dialogue (while Tabs-Register is not
selected). All selected tabs are then unchecked and only "All" is
visible.

And this behaviour is still present in 3.61.12

Running well. Sends, receives, very fast, no AVs so far.

> [-] (#0004810) Editor's attachment pane position data was not stored

I set up a message in the MicroEd Edit Mail Message window, with the
attachment pane within the window on the left.

To test, I grabbed the pane by the attachment box and dragged it
outside the Edit Mail Message window.

The pane disappeared. I can't find it. I tried to make it reappear by
attaching another file, but that did not make the pane visible.

I can't find a setting to restore the attachment pane to the inside of
the editor window.

I don't know whether I had just forgotten what to do about moving the
attachment pane to an external position, or whether it's a bug.

I'm going to close and relaunch The Bat! to see if that will give me
back my editor-window attachment pane.

A problem still not solved by The Bat! developers

2005-10-12 Thread Costas Papadopoulos
Hello All,

It's very frustrating thatthebugreportedin
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4928 is still open. As I see
it, this means that one cannot use non English characters in the
Subject line when using Quick Templates (%SUBJECT="").

Similarly, one cannot use an addressbook entry, for example the
recipient's name in the Subject if using %ABTONAME, if the entry in
the addressbook is in non English characters.

The only workaround (which is not at all practical) in order to use
correctly this feature of Quick Templates, is to change the regional
settings in Windows to the desired language.

Closing and re-launching did make the pane visible, in an external
position. It appeared in the spot on the screen to which I had dragged
it, after I attached a file to a new message (using the Utilities/
attach files menu).

So I closed that message without saving it.

Opened a new message in the Edit Mail message window. Attached a file,
as above.

No attachment pane appeared.

It seems I will have to close and re-launch TB! again, to get the
attachment pane back.

Anyone confirm?

This happens every time:

1) Attach a file in the Edit Mail Message window.

2) Drag the attachment pane to an external position.

3) Attachment pane disappears.

4) Close and re-launch The Bat!

5) Invoke a new Edit Mail Message window.

6) Attach a file.

7) Attachment pane will appear in the external position to which it
had been dragged before the re-launch.

8) Close the Edit Mail Message window without saving the message.

9) Open a new Edit Mail Message window. Attach a file. Nothing
happens. The attachment pane has disappeared again.

10) Close and re-launch The Bat! Attachment pane will reappear. But
only for one message. Then it's close and re-launch to get it in
a subsequent Edit Mail Message window.

Happens every time for me.

Confirmations?

Yepp. IMAP is faster again but also more unstable and filters just
stopped working again.

What about joining speed of the old queue with the stability of the new
one? ;)

Unstable attachment pane in The Bat! 3.61.12 Echo (Beta)

2005-10-12 Thread Mary Bull
Hello 9Val!

I'm dropping back to beta v. 3.61.11. It ran really well for me and
presented me with no problems.

I can't live with the unstable attachment pane in v. 3.61.12.

See my message

Even though no one is confirming the behavior to me, it's happening
here, every time. :(

And I have a lot of jpegs which I wish to share with friends and
relatives this afternoon.

I've got another problem though - some messages don't appear - actually, the
text is there, but it isn't displayed - the cursor does change to a hand
over a link, and I can open it, but I don't see anything in the Rich Text
Viewer (If I try to select text with my mouse, the cursor leaves trails
behind though). I attached a sample message.

Address Book templates lost their priority

2005-10-12 Thread Zygmunt Wereszczynski
Hello all!

I have several contacts in Address Book with very simple new message and
reply templates defined. When I try to write new message or reply, these AB
templates are not used. Instead of them, The Bat! uses account or folder
templates. I observed such behaviour in 3.61.11 version (may be it was
in earlier versions as well) and it is present also in 3.61.12.

Can somebody confirm this bug?

Once I had dragged it to an external position, it never did stay
stable in an internal position.

And whether in the internal position or the external position, it
disappeared when the message window was closed and a new message
window opened.

We are talking here, of course, only about attachments using Edit Mail
Message.

If I had never dragged the attachment pane from its interior position,
I don't know whether it would have disappeared when I closed the
message window.

I did not expect trouble of this kind. I was testing the attachment
pane bug fix, which was that its settings would be remembered.

http://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4810

After I did that test, the attachment pane became unusable for me. I
would have to close and relaunch every time in order to see it.

Re: Unstable attachment pane in The Bat! 3.61.12 Echo (Beta)

2005-10-12 Thread Mary Bull
Hello MAU!

On Wednesday, October 12, 2005, 2:40 PM, you wrote:

>> I can't live with the unstable attachment pane in v. 3.61.12.

> Do you have any problem with attachments if you do not drag the

Second answer on this:

I re-installed beta v. 3.61.12 to test what happens if I don't drag
the pane.

If it has not been dragged after installing this beta, it does not
disappear.

However, it behaves as if always external.

I can't have it in a split window of the message editor, on the left.
It covers my text if I do that.

When I position it on the right and re-size it to accommodate several
attachments, it does remember the size and position relative to my
body text within the editor window.

But if I open a new message with not much body text and therefore
smaller vertical height, the attachment pane is half within the editor
window and half out on the monitor screen. I write messages within
sized windows that are not full screen, so that I can cascade the
folder view of the message I'm replying and TB!'s main window behind
my editor window, with just enough visible that a quick click of the
cursor will change the focus among the cascaded windows.

It's as if the attachment pane is now in permanent external position
mode.

When the pane first disappeared, I thought that maybe one of my
cascaded windows was overlaying it, so I minimized everything, but
that didn't help. Once dragged, the attachment actually disappears
until TB! is closed and re-launched.

Even if this new way is working as designed, it is sufficiently
inconvenient to me that I will stay with v. 3.61.11 unless a fixed
attachment pane in a split-editor-window fashion is available to me.

I will keep on making tests of future betas, until an msi comes along
that makes it hard for me to get back to a version that displays the
attachment pane the way it's convenient for me.

But I'm not going to use an attachment pane that disappears as soon as
it is dragged to another position, and keeps on disappearing whether
or not any future dragging is done.

I just tested the attachment pane position etc. It behaves here, no
matter where I put it. I tried externally first. It returned and was in
the same position on restarting the editor. Same for the other positions
I left it within the editor itself.

I've noted that the panel cannot be resized once it's docked to the top
or bottom of the editor window.

In the seven years I have used The Bat! the attachment pane has never
covered the text. I have always left it in the default left vertical
position because it always worked. It seems unusual to me that your
text would be covered by the attachment pane. I wonder what is causing
it to happen to you... I can't find a command to make it do this so I
wonder if it is acting as a floating window instead of a docked window
when you position it inside the editor window. On my machine it
smartly snaps to any of the 4 sides of the editor pane.

Can you have it on the left side of the editor window, without it
covering text that is aligned left?

I want to dock it on the left side, within the editor window.

> Do you have the View/'Store Window Position' option enabled?

Yes.

I have re-installed v. 3.61.12 for the purposes of answering your
questions. The problems remain as I've described them.

I don't have much more time to spend on this tonight.

Tomorrow I will delete the download I did of v. 3.61.12 and download
it again.

Since no one else is having problems, perhaps I just have a faulty
download.

There is no problem whatsoever in v. 3.61.ll except for not
remembering the position of an external attachment pane.

I never did want an external attachment pane, anyway. So that part was
not a problem for me--I was just participating in testing when I
confirmed your bug report, Curtis.

If v. 3.61.12 will keep its vertical split-screen between the
attachment pane and the body text, I will be happy.

Right now, it behaves as if I had a permanently floating external
attachment pane. It will cover body text unless I put it in the empty
space at the right side of my 70-character-per-line wrap.

Not acceptable to me, at all.

Thanks for replying, Curtis. :)

Yes. While composing this message, I moved it to the left and it docked
just fine, pushing the text margin to the right so that it doesn't cover
the text.

Or a faulty interface config file. That's a gremlin of the past and is
likely to still be at large. That would be the tbuser.def file, I think.
What you could do is to rename it after shutting down TB! and then
restarting TB!. Try the editor again and see if the problem persists.

The tbuser.def file is in your mail directory.

Did that. Was hopeful. But problem persists.

Decided to try a Repair in Add/Remove. But that didn't help.

Have just done the fresh download and install. But, that didn't help.

As you can see by my sig, I've gone back to v. 3.61.ll.

Perhaps it's some quirk between my system and v. 3.61.12 that will
resolve itself in the next beta.

Thanks again for all your help!
