Thank you! As I've now learned from Vili, the macro parameters have
to be in quotes as well. The nice thing about vbs is that it's so
easy to customize.

I'll have to experiment to find out if batch files require any

Check the size of the _Virtual Memory_. But I have to admit, the
_memory_ usage also jump to lik 120 MB...

It is independent from the account used.

As another computer professional, I understand the feeling. However,
it has already happened and will continue to happen. There's nothing

RP>> Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks to all of you for replying.

I tried using Opera, Firefox and IE with the same kind of AV every time and
after much research with different versions of TB concluded that the problem
was not really related to TB.

When I tried opening an HTML file from 'My Documents' a window popped up to
say that "No application assigned to this type of file", even though it had
an Opera icon attached! I then went through the usual procedure to assign
Opera as the application "To always be used to open files of this type" and
voilà, the TB AV problem has disappeared.

Thanks again for your replies.

If you can view it, you should be able to print it. Without switching
to another application, I mean.

As long as it's hidden from the user, it's OK: He doesn't have to open
another application to print. The point us ease-of-use.

It seems a little like wasted effort to me to create printing of HTML
in TB when a double-click opens it in the default browser which has
the printing tools. Even M$'s programs do this but hide the interface

It seems a shame to dumb down a computer user to the level of a TV

Memory leak, 2. (WAS Video Issue?)

Ok, I found the cause of the HUGE VM size and I think the slowdowns:

- start TB. It is like 50 MB VM at me.

- open the Mail Editor to write a mail

The size of the VM shoots up to 125 MB... It is not lowered when I
send the mail or close the mail editor.

Isnt it a little too much increase?

Also, I tested it with v4 Voyager, there is NO significant VM size
increase when opening the Mail Editor window. I use MicroEd in both.

Confirmation?

Hello Rick,

The reason it that TB eats away the Virtual Memory. Sometimes, the VM
goes up to 150 MB very soon at me, I did not find the cause yet.

BUT: monitor the VM in the Task Manager, and open/close an email that
has online images in it. You may see that the size of the VM
increases. Not that much, but there is a memory leak. Also, at some
mail with online content, I dont see VM increase.

We should test which HTML mails causing VM leak and which not...

I made a v2 from it, download link is the same:
http://www.thebat.hu/TBAlert.exe

This should be the commandline when you run it from the filters as
external command:
C:\Program Files\The Bat!\Processing\TBAlert.exe "%FROM" "%SUBJECT" "New mail!"

I changed the icon from TB's icon to my favorite and added the
possibility to accept 3 parameter strings.

Also, I changed the TMemo to TColorMemo.

The only code:

procedure TForm1.FormShow(Sender: TObject);
begin
 //Stay on top
 with Self do
SetWindowPos(Handle,HWND_TOPMOST,Left,Top,Width,Height,SWP_NOACTIVATE or
SWP_NOMOVE or SWP_NOSIZE);
 //Display the first command line parameter
 If ParamCount>0 Then Memo1.Lines.Add('From: '+Paramstr(1));
 If ParamCount>1 Then Memo1.Lines.Add('Subject: '+Paramstr(2));
 If ParamCount>2 Then Memo1.Lines.Add('Note: '+Paramstr(3));
end;

Enjoy.
