It allows detect text-degradation and
-classify tokens correctly
- store only one variation of token instead all possibilities

How it works... As you probably know, there are chars in some alphabets,
which seems as symbol from another (or "almost as...") - or some other
char from same alphabet

Replacement game was very (now less) popular in spam, because it can
(can't really long) fool bayes-filter

token "Viagra" not identical to "V1ägrä" (for bayes-filters), but it
still readable and understandable for human reading. On creating pairs
you give BIT possibility test not only found token, but also all
possible variation of writing and increase (in ideal) detection quality

Yes, and you have at least two choices

1. Old, used by me (was written long time ago by Marck)

%SETPATTREGEXP="[EMAIL PROTECTED](\w*)>?$"%REGEXPMATCH="%TOADDR" - extract TLD
from recipient's address, which you can handle as you want

2. New style (untested by me yet) - using plugin Langselector, which
defines two new macros

%setlang - define new nameset, based on characters in it
%islang - test used in OTEXT nameset on creating reply

BTW - author can give more detailed explanation, it's here, Alexey N. Vinogradov

I'm afraid (personally), that it will be not able differentiate between
different 8-bit languages (Spanish and French, for example) and usable
in case

One 8-bit language + 1 pure 7-bit

Because The Bat! (not OE, Eudora, ...) verify _full_ chain, always full
chain - and it's good

AR> In this warning is a few boxes with "OK" and "CANCEL" always selectable,
You can use "possibly insecure" connection or drop it

AR> giving temporary permission, but "View Certificate" and "Add to Trusted"

If server doesn't provide full chain, including ROOT certificate - you
have _nothing_ to add

AR> Please, please. please(!) TB! developers give the choice to the user and
AR> make these buttons *Always* selectable!
Please, please, please The Bat! users - do not ask to do "bad things"!
If you have lame lazy admin on your "secure" server, which think only
about OE-users (which can trust everybody and everybody) (or don't think
at all - "I do something and it works somehow... let's it run"), you
can make your (and other client of this "service") better, if you don't
complaint TB developers, but beat admin's head on the wall - "Think,
stupid!!! Try to think and use brain, not ass!!!"

AR> TB doesn't make this one thing easy for
AR> the user to make his/her own mind up about, simply unbelievable.
You must not think about it, and make own mind... It's security, not
less... "Security over obscurity". You or have security, or haven't AT
ALL - there aren't intermediate variations

AR> GMX.net, myrealbox.com, and Safe-mail.net all work like a charm allowing
AR> me to "Add to Trusted" but us.army.mil and cotse.net, which do not
AR> present the entire cert chain TB doesn't allow me to add...
These brain-damaged "admins" MUST
- or add root certificate to chain
- or make it available for download (if they have such big problem with
  own hands and can't RTFM)

There aren't other _good_ ways!

Why trust only server's certificate and ignore tests of other
certificate in chain is bad idea?
(it's shortened and simplified lesson from "Network security essentials")

Well... because in this case _you_'ll be vulnerable to rather easy attack

Imagine TLS-server victim.domain.tld, which lives on IP 1.1.1.1 and have
cert, issued ans signed by "Good CA"
Victim's admin doesn't know how to make ROOT-CA cert usable and ignore
it, user selected also "trust hostname victim.domain.tld".
In some bad day Joe Hacker, using DNS-poisoning (+ probably ARP-spoofing)
will be able to route traffic for victim.domain.tld onto another real
host (2.2.2.2 - for example)... But this host declared as
"victim.domain.tld" and even present valid certificate for
"victim.domain.tld"... issued by "Joe Hacker CA"

User trust victim.domain.tld, and see nothing bad (or unusual)... After
all, user's traffic (already cleaned) can be collected, dissected... and...
all security (pseudo-security) ruined in moment.

In case of testing root-cert it never happens - you'll get information
about changing Root-CA, and can handle such bad signal correctly (and
just for note - two valid certificates for one hostname are impossible for
good CA, one must /and will/ be revoked immediately)

Uff... I had to add it into KB years ago :-)

%ABOFROMFIRSTNAME - works for me in replies (see at TO in this my
message and produced greeting-string)
%ABFROMFIRSTNAME - it your message will be _your_ firstname, if you are
in own AB

For missing in AB contacts %ABOFROMFIRSTNAME="%OFROMFNAME" can be
partial solution (while adding to addressbook before answering seems
as better solution).

And some details about using prefixes-suffixes, inverted naming in
address fields ("LastName, Firstname" vs "LastName Firstname") of message editor

The Bat consider first word in address field as FirstName (usual and
common convention), except of "presence comma" case after it - in this
situation it uses inverted logic ("Last, First" instead of "First Last")
In case of addressbook macros - it works with addressbook fields
directly - you can use any form of "display as" and add this form into
address of message - while The Bat will be able find record in address
book (using e-mail as key) - it substitute in template correct data from
address book

It's not The Bat! but underlying level - Windows... How it selects good
candidates - know only (pssst) genuine MS-programmers...

Select this font for viewing in any other win-prog and you'll see the same
results - font substituted by another, sometimes - weird (missing Andale
mono replaced by MS Comics Sans, for example)

No. Combination of X-Mailer and MailMan's added message-part and

NFS - "this filter executed only by pressing hot-key" feature lost in new filters

2004-08-20 Thread Alexander Leschinsky
Hello All,

Just to note here (I'll add to BT some time later)

Filter can't be executed only by hotkey now - and old converted filters
can give, hmm... well, strange results

I had catch-all filter in incoming mail solely on hotkey - "report to
razor" (forward and move to spam). Now all incoming mail appear in
spam-folder :-)

Well, you forgot abt difference about visualization and storage

In Unicode-powered OS a part programs is Unicoded'd, part - lacks
Unicode support, and transferring (8|16)-bit data between _these_
programs can give some headache... Not in Unicode-Unicode or
nonUnicode-nonUnicode... Well, more precisely - problem will appear only
in one direction Unicode -> nonUnicode
And just for note - clipboard in 2000-XP _is_ Unicode

Because at least you must have Spanish keyboard layout and "Copy from"

it into "half-Unicode", but it's IMHO and can be full delirium)

Is department OU in terms of LDAP? If it true, it will be shown in
search results. Really The Bat LDAP have _some_ glitches, but all of
them are beyond described Den problem... Namely - The Bat can't fill
from "standard" inetorgperson schema these fields

gender
homeLocation
homeURL
o
location
c
photo

and (obviously) TB-specific fields

xbatNewTemplate
xbatReplyTemplate
xbatForwardTemplate
xbatTemplateOptions
xbatBirthday
xbatNamePrefix
xbatNameSuffix
xbatFavourite

JA> I can search by any part of the string in a name, and it'd load it

...
JA> Maybe that'd be the reason? :)
Yes, because Exchange2000 (AD???) uses LDAP v.3 _and_ The Bat speaks on
v.3 too. Exchange 5.5 uses LDAP v 2.5 and, AFAIK, handling of 8-bit data
differ in these versions

If anybody can confirm, what The Bat in LDAP-3 servers can find and
show 8-bit correctly, I'll became happy

Allie, it's easy

Add _sender_

Sender = From + Sender + X-Sender

For tbbeta (and other maillists) we have

->8-- from WinClipboard
From: "Allie Martin"
...
Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

->8
thus, 2 addresses and two dialogues

Yes, with one small addition - Internal S/MIME stores _own_ certificates
(private and public keys pair) in account's data, CAs and other people
certificate - in addressbooks

MS CryptoAPI simply can't handle (and even knows) about possible different

Where and under which conditions? Let's imagine I read nothing about VM

"DON'T WORK AS EXPECTED" is not problem description, it's sensation,

There ARE still problems in VM, but spot of balance can be found

Yes, agree

And I wrote some (days, weeks) ago about my _own_ vision of View Modes
in message-list headers context-menu. Maybe, it's also unnecessary
complex, but, from my POV, more logical and usable

Short remake:

0. It must be not global, but folder-specific, with some possible
extenders

1. Changing with menu in folder with "Account default..." change VM for
all folders in _current account_ with "Account default"
2. Changing VM from one to another will change VM for all folders in
account with this VM (and another folders will show after it new VM in
properties)
3. Changing to VM from "Use folder's specific" change nothing in other
folders

Context menu change VM always globally, changing VM in folder's
