Hi TBBeta,

I am far from being an MS basher but do I remember correctly that
there might be a kind of super key with the US authorities?!

Doesn't matter I'm not working for Microsoft, so there is no super key
for the US authorities.

 CDs for archiving aren't a problem :-)
You have to encrypt the data before archiving, haven't you?

Yes, but that can be done while copying the data...

All things considered you've done it, you did really convince me: I'm
 against a Save decrypted option.

As Alexander pointed out, if some one uses another mail client he/she
may save your message nevertheless.

If your hard drive is encrypted you don't have to think about stuff

You use an encrypted NTFS partition? Or a similar scheme, even PGPDisk

Yes for the first question. I'm on the bright side here, I work in a
company producing such stuff :-)

Not only do I have to rely on the fact that my correspondents *do* use
encrypted HDs (what about CDs for archiving?),

Why? If you send your message encrypted, you can't make sure that it
stays encrypted, can you? If there is an option in TB! that you can
save decrypted messages, some will use it some not.

 changes in-between versions ...

well, but there is a change in the way the betas are done. Last
beta-cycle we got betas every now and than. Now they took two weeks.
Which I appreciate as it gives the possibility to test thoroughly.

Moreover I suppose that the long times between the betas means that
there will be larger changes. (Unicode comes to mind here...)

2004-11-23 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump
Hi 9Val,

[*] IMAP: multiple connections to server (Fine Tune option)

Well, I have multiple connections now, but that seems to be somewhat
randomly.

First of all: Tasks are added to the list even if the same task
already exist. I have 4 entries in the list to get the message list of
the Inbox and all show connection one.

Every now and then I can see that a connection 4 is used to get some
more information about my IMAP account, but the list of entries for
connection one never shortens.

I tried to abort all tasks. That closed the CC but after hitting the
Get New Mail button all task are back again. Same happens if I try to
synchronise all folders.

Now I tried what happens to the threads if I close TB! Most them are
back again, well that was what I expected as there are 14 folders to
sync. But why are there two entries saying they use connnection one
and are doing something? (Now there are four in Status executing, but
with no state.)

I will have a look what happens if I use 10 concurrent connections
now... First I wrote that it doesn't make any difference, I was wrong.
I have to write it again, as TB! crashed while I was typing.

Would it make sense to group the action in the list in a way such that
a scan and sync on the same folder use the same connection?

Hi Roger,

Recently, messages which have been moved automatically to the Junk
folder have started to always display as Unread, even though the
setting in Options/preferences/Warnings/Anti-spam is still set to
mark them as 'Read'. This is not serious, but IS an annoyance.

I had the same problem a while ago and the solution was that I had a
global view mode. A filter/view mode of a folder doesn't override a
global view mode. So check in View|Global View Modes if no view mode

Hi Michael,

I love this program and this is a very stable version. I think it
needs to be released. I have had no problems.

Well, I have. IMAP is still kind of broken.

Every now and then messages I just read get unread.

A folder very I deleted all messages using the webinterface at work,
showed 3 unread messages and said there are 3 messages. Clicking on it
it presented 6 messages with 3 unread. I thought that maybe the
resync wasn't finished but the CC said it was.

Deleting the cache showed 3 messages and all unread (all nigeria
spam).

IMAP is slow. I have set to sync every 2 minutes but the initial
resync after program start takes longer than that (for 12 folders)
that is obviously too long.

Now that's really odd. I don't really have an explanation for such
 behaviour.

I have: This is normally connected to moving messages from one folder
to another. If you delete the cache everything is fine again. I move
message from my Inbox to a common folder and if I then copy/move a
message from another folder to my Inbox it doesn't show up at all or
it is linked to the message I moved to the common folder.

Re: TB's EXE changed every time?

2004-10-19 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump
Hi Dierk,

 '' before hibernation.

Why are there two '' now?

I haven't, it was a server in-between, kind of escaping the lying
 carets in that line.

In the mail from Peter I mentioned in my first post, there is nothing
that I can see that could trigger such an escaping. And which server
should have made the change?

The mail from Mary is a bit weird, too. Instead of '' I see ' and
that's the same in the archive.

Re: Log in status bar grows to taskbar

2004-10-18 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump
Hi TBBeta,

Not confirmed. When I click on the status bar (or the little arrow
pointing down) it opens like a drop-down box but upwards, not down
 to the taskbar.

Regarding the opening of the statusbar upwards, that is common
behaviour of Windows controls. If the submenu doesn't fit at the right
it is shown on the left. If the drop-down doesn't fit below it is
shown on top. May be unintuitive but that's what it will be forever I
suppose.

Scrolling doesn't change the size at all. It has always been like
that over here, under both Win98 and XP.

Happened here sometimes, too. But never since the introduction of the
new status panel. I thought this error was gone.

Hi Thomas,

RTT Regarding the opening of the statusbar upwards, that is common
 RTT behaviour of Windows controls.
I know. That's why I think the arrow should point up.

As it is a common control it won't show up. It never does in any
program, why should it in TB! (Well they can write their own control
which points up, but there are so many better things to do :-))

Scrolling doesn't change the size at all. It has always been like

OK, I have seen some people confirm the problem, it just doesn't
happen here, so I'll be quiet.

it again.

Hi hggdh,

After installing Oct12 MSI I have one single ARP entry, V3.0.1.29, and
the remove button is grayed out. So... no uninstall option
 available :-).

That is by design. If you really want to uninstall, click Modify.
Maxim said they decided to do so, because they want to ask the user if
he/she wishes do delete the working directory and message databases,
too. But the remove button calls the MSIexec without GUI, so no way to
ask. (I think there must be a way around this, so maybe we get that in
the next release.)

The Error code says that the RPC server isn't there. Did you start the

Not sure if this is the right list as it is not actually beta's involved.

I think I know now, where the problem is. Max decided to hide the
remove button as you can't get an UI if you click on that and so you
can't be asked if you want to delete your message base, too. I know
that in the discussion someone said that this will lead to problems on

Oh, I misunderstood you. You have deleted the 3.0.0.5 entry. Well then

I bet it would, but I understood that Maxim is targeting the v3.0.0 release

Well, the 3.0.1 should remove the old entry and install a new one, so
that you can see which version you're using (without starting The Bat!

 (I have no idea).

Everything that MS wants to distinguish get a GUID (Global Unique

Me, too. And there was that weird mail of 9Val saying that the error
is confirmed for all who do *not* use Mailticker.

Hello 9Val,

If you are using remote Outbox then you need to synchronize it before
 sending.
 Does send immediately work?

I don't know as I don't know what I'm trying to do :-)

It doesn't matter if I click on the first Icon (Send the message) or
on the second (Put to outbox).

I'm using 2.12.03 by the way.

Re[3]: IMAP account won't send message

2004-07-25 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump
Hello 9Val,

Do you use Remote/Local Outbox? Do messages after composing appear in
 Outbox?

I don't know as I already wrote. Where can I find the information
about Local/Remote box?

The message is not put to anywhere as far as I can see. Clicking the
tool button simply does that and nothing else.

But I think I found the problem nevertheless. I configured to use the
folder Gesendet as Outbox and for sent mails. But there is no folder
Gesendet in my account only a Sent Mail. (Or is that the normal
way of TB to show the IMAP folders with predefined functionality?)

I have definitily no folder named outbox in my account.

Large message and delete on server

2003-12-14 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump
Hi TBBETA,

I configured one account to retrieve headers for mails larger than
100K and also to delete mails after retrieval.

This leads to the surprising fact, that TB! generates a mail, that
there is a large message for me that I should care about myself, which
is already deleted on the server.

I think this is a bug, so can anybody confirm?

How should I know, if it isn't shown :-)

Normally it should be .psd. The interesting bit is that the mail size

what I think is interesting from the mail source:

Re: Problem with mails from Mac

2002-11-26 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump
Hello Alexander,

DH The issue must be in the encoding method used by the mac email client
DH being used.
 Unsuppoted by TB BinHex

I can't subscribe here. I got a second mail with an attachment I can
see and hitting F9 I find a mime part that show the following
information:

Content-type: application/mac-binhex40; name=winter.psd

(This file must be converted with BinHex 4.0)

(But maybe that clarifies why I can't save the attachment in a usable
form...)

Annoying behaviour - Folder Tree

2002-06-09 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump

Hello,

I don't know why it happens, but I change resolutions from time to
time, sometimes with TB! running, sometimes not.

Nevertheless my folder tree view suddenly doesn't have the height of
the window any longer, below of it there is a grey region. The folder
view stay in this position for a while (meaning closing and reopening
TB!) and then decides to let it fit into the window height again.

Any other with this behaviour?

Re: AVG Plugin

2002-04-16 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump

Hello!

Certification is not possible with actual TB's API plugin interface.

 Really sad.

I don't think it is.

Suppose you have a AV program and a virus on your computer which this
one can't recognize. So TB! would certify that the outgoing mail is
clean. Well, hopefully the receiver isn't so stupid to rely on it, so
normally he will use his own virus checked nevertheless if there is a
certification or not.

Will there be a 'Warning dialog' when sending infected files in further
versions of the AVG-Plugin or isn't that supported by the API?

I hope it is supported. It should be!

Re: beta/26

2002-01-11 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump

Hello Peter,

So switch them off ... What's the problem?

I hadn't expected that. So I thought it was connected to the msg-id protocol.

TB! stores these setting in different places for 'Preview mode' and
'Folder view mode' so you can easily change the settings for folder
view mode (as this is what opens up when you click on a message ID
link) without affecting the settings for your preview mode.

Don't know if I like that :-)

Problem with MailTicker

2001-06-11 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump

Hello,

my mailticker sometimes forget were it belongs. I normally drag him to
the button of the window and let him snap there. (Still would like to
see that it acts like a taskbar and shrinks the workspace for the
other windows...) Anyway after changing the solution without getting
new messages and switch back to the original solution, The MailTicker
suddenly pops up at the bottom of the old solution which means right
in the middle of my screen.
