associate file formats with TB [even for those TB already owns]?

Don't want to sound petty but I think these two are a tiny bit
important, especially if somebody starts up TB, gets an error about
EML or MSG or MAILTO not associatable with TB - every single time.
Would definitely drive me away if I was evaluating TB.

5.0.0.151 Bat hangs with hourglass

2011-03-27 Thread Rick
I have had the following happen twice now: When scrolling and highlighting
messages, the bat will hang. There is an hourglass and the icons in the tray
stop turning. I have to kill the program with the task manager.

Confirmations anyone?

I go through a LOT of HTML emails and graphics. I run CCleaner in the tray and
it is set to clear out the cache and images folders. I delete in excess of
1,000 messages per day

Re: GPG/PGP a fix is badly needed

2011-03-26 Thread Rick
 Hello Tbbeta,

Due to the poor, and I mean substandard, implemantation of GPG/PGP, I
am at the stage of deciding if not to install a different mail client
and use it until TheBat's encryption system is sorted.

On an average day, I can input my password anything upto 40 times. I
receive encrypted mail from friends, family memebers and also mailing
lists. I can receive between 2 and 10 messages at a time that are
encrypted and even though I set my remember password to 600 minutes, I
have to input my password each and every time

I know that encryption is not high on most peoples lists, but it is
for me. I love usinging TheBat and as hard as I try, I am at the stage
that I find I can no longer use it

Have you put this is the bug tracker? I don't use this feature so I can't
confirm it for you. Perhaps someone else can

The Bat! 5.0.0.153 RC3 is available at
 http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/a-5/tb500153.rar

 What's new in 5.0.0.153 RC3 since RC1:

[-] Critical error sound on exit when exception was raised to indicate
 resource leak.

Seems to be fixed

[-] Negative counters in Virtual Folders issue (Beta issue)

Seems to be fixed - I will watch this tomorrow when I use VFs extensively

[-] Fixed a bug of display of some background images of HTML
messages, introduced in The Bat! 4.2.40-42 and earlier v5 betas (BETA ISSUE)

The bars across the graphics is fixed. I have to check the issue where GIFs
were showing as half or quarter size.

LOOKS GOOD - Thank you :)

Re: Deleting folders in TB doesn't delete folders on HDD

2011-03-15 Thread Rick
 Hello all,

I just realized that when I delete a folder in The Bat the
corresponding folder on the hard disk remains. This happens with
the two deleting options Move to trash and Wipe. The message base
files MESSAGES.TBB and .TBN are deleted from the drive and an empty folder
 remains.
This isn't intended behavior, is it?

The third option Leave message base files intact of course doesn't
delete the files or folder on the hard disk.
 That's what I expect.

 What are your opinions?

I think that WIPE should do exactly what it says - WIPE it from the hard drive.

 Dear all,

Installing the latest Beta has killed my AntiSpam Sniper. Must I newly

I have version 3.2.6.3 installed and it is working correctly in 148.

Mine was working well also. I checked and there IS an update to 3.2.6.4

Frankly, I doubt that I have complained of this (or similar

messages as to be received and The Bat! will receive them
indefinitely. Any attempt to delete the offending message is ignored,
unless accomplished via the Maintenance Center

I should have been more specific. I only have POP accounts and this is
happening in common folders.

Re: TB! hangs after Maintenance

2011-03-08 Thread Rick
My TB! runs a bit slower and jerks along sometimes from some betas. I
think it's related with IMAP, I'm investigating it for get more
 information.

Also I had two times this problem: If I do a full maintenance of all
the accounts (purge + compact) and I leave TB! some minutes without
touch nothing. When I try to work another time with TB! it doesn't
responds. If I click on the tray icon it shows the main screen and one
time I saw it was running another time the maintenance without touch
 nothing.

I have a bunch of pop3 accounts and one IMAP.

 Any confirmation?

I have all POP accounts and I get some of that jerky behavior too

Re: Another day, another anomaly

2011-03-07 Thread Rick
As things stand, every day TB is become less and less usable for
 me. Not a happy camper!

I have to concur. Yesterday, the Bat killed my windows and shut down my
 machine. It
turns out there is still something going on with memory leaks and IMAP not
 disconnecting
 correctly.

I am concerned that things have not settled and the product is not ready for
 release.

I am hopeful this will be solved by month end with a solid product that is
 fully
 functioning.

I don't see this going out by the end of the month. Things keep breaking and
not getting fixed. I know they are working on the AVs, but some of the things
that worked in v4 should be working in v5 before it is released

I don't have any more details. I have 5 set to go at 2 AM and another at 2 PM.
None of them went.

What details would you like me to get and where do I get them?

I reopened the bug track report

so every message should be sent in specific time?

TB us running, but messages are not sent?

do You have anything in account log related to selected time?

do You see postponed tasks in scheduller?

5 messages go out at 2 AM. I leave TB running all night
There is nothing in the account log
The postponed tasks ARE in the scheduler. I don't see anything in the schedule
entries that looks wrong (to me that is - they are enabled etc.)

I had something happen that had never happened before. I am in the habit of

I was reading this email with 2 others highlighted and when I hit F4, 3
messages were opened, one of them with the correct reply quotes

Re: Q:Why does filtering not work so good ?

2011-03-01 Thread Rick
Looks like that no answer is also an answer.

 2011/2/28 F.P. ferdi.p...@googlemail.com

 Hi,

i guess that a answer ist difficult, i expect none.
I dont understand the problem in that filtering mode in TB!. Why
does it not work so easy ? Are my configuration wrong ?
At the weekend i test around with fastmail and my own webspace,
Opera, Thunderbird, Android and Evolution. With none of them i have one
 problem to
filter messages and move them to other folders. The only one thats
does not work as expected is, sorry, TB!.

 I have 4 filters.
If subject is someting - move that to folder TB_beta
I sender is. something - move that to folder something

Not so heavy to understand that filtering.

I am not a filter expert by any means but should you add a AND NOT conditions
so that
If subject is something AND NOT sender2 mot that to folder TB_Beta

If that doesn't do it, there are people on this list that are MUCH more
knowledgeable than I.

Re: Filters : problem when is filter triggered more times during one session

2011-03-01 Thread Rick
 Hello,
user has filter with two conditions:
 1) nove message to folder
 2) mark message as read

When is received one message, it is correctly moved and marked as read.

But when are more messages received and filtered by 1 filter, all are moved
to folder, but not all are marked as read.

I have done test and sent 4 same messages to myself, all 4 were moved and 2
messages were marked as read only.

 Confirmations?

Confirmed with POP accounts moving to a common folder.

Under normal circumstances the 5 minute folder recheck seems to force a

strange state where there is no data being transferred, but the
 connection does not timeout.

strange thing is, such problem happened in POP3 account.

Am I right, we do not need to re-post those bugs and oddities we've

Examples: Split screen mode, filters not working correctly, AVs and

   rendering etc.

Lines in graphics, can't open multiple emails with inline graphics correctly,
redirect doesn't work ...

2011-02-15 Thread Rick
The Bat! 5.0.0.139 BETA is available at
 http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/a-5/tb500139.rar

 What's new in 5.0.0.139 since 5.0.0.138:
[-] The Bat! might display blank lines in images embedded to an HTML body when
the user did scroll the message

This is NOT fixed - I am getting it in some messages that have been downloaded.

I have seen the horizontal lines appear in the TEXT of an HTML message for the
first time (please see attachment)

Re: Management of IMGFILES folder (successor of CACHE)

2011-02-15 Thread Rick
 Hello,
in v4, cached files from Image Download Manager were stored to MAIL/CACHE,
in v5, they are stored to MAIL/IMGFILES, there is no management for any.

Cache grows with every HTML mail, during 3 days, I have 760 files in
IMGFILES and this folder has 17MB size already.

There must be possible to set maximum size for this folder and maximum
number of files stored in it, what files should be stored and for how
 long.
I deal with a lot of graphics and I find there is a slowdown as the number of
files builds. I am constantly running CCLEANER which I have configured to clean
the cache and IMGFILES directories.

Cannot confirm. It works for me in this version.

I cannot select more than one string at a time. I tried in this email. How are
you doing it?

You should use Ctrl key + mouse, then multiple parts of text can
 be selected.

I cannot do that. When I go to select a second, the first does not remain
highlighted

It worked in this case. Can't confirm, although I have seen some flakey
behavior in the past.

Thank you for providing the sample, we will try to fix this issue.

Maxim - you also still have the issue of smileys in the editor being slightly
clipped off on the right and bottom.

That is an annoyance and not front burner stuff.

Thank you for all you do.

 Hello Tbbeta,

Do you confirm that the HTML images in 5.0.0.137 are finally fixed?
If yes, should we update version 4.2 with these image fixes?

They are better but they still have lines in them
