I've always had a little problem with memos. I only have one normal
folder with memos for about 60% of the 108 messages in it. Each time I
open the folder the memos display differently. Sometimes they aren't
there at all until I double click somewhere in the folder. Other times
there is just half a memo visible (like the top half or bottom half of
the text), and other times only a few memos will show and I have to
click several times in different places to get them all to show.

Never reported it before because they are the only memos I use, it's
only a small folder and no one else has ever reported this problem so I
thought it was something wrong with my set up.

It was a false alarm. Se the reply I've just sent to myself in
 :)

Anyway, I had forgot to mention that I was displaying Memo as a column
on the messages pane and there is where the (now small) problem occurs.

Can you confirm this now small bug?

Forget everything I said, false alarm! It is just a minor _display_ bug
but memos are _not_ lost. Here is what happens.

When VF is refreshed or you move to another folder and then move to the
VF, the messages pane does not display memos until it gets the focus (i.e
a message is selected in the pane). See attached PNGs, 1 is after a
refresh or after just moving to the VF and 2 is after selecting a
message.

Maybe you can explain the precise steps to reproduce the problem?

I just created a memo for a message in a VF. I located the original message
and the memo was there, too. Then I right-clicked the VF and selected
"refresh". The memo was still there, both in the VF and the original
message.

Memo field and VFs, BEWARE!!!!

2004-11-20 Thread MAU
Hello all,

I am aware, and I think most of you too, that Memo field for messages
are stored in TBI file and not as part of the message in TBB file. It is
not the best but it works and the only risk (that I know of) is if for
some reason you delete the TBI file for a folder, then all memos are
lost. Moving the message to another folder moves the Memo also, etc.

But here is something I found out today the "hard way". I use a number
of VFs to organise my pending issues (actions, replies, etc.) and to
make it a little easier for me to follow up I decided to include some
comments (like the action to carry) in the Memo field. Everything seemed
so great after about one hour of work!

But what I didn't know or expect was that the Memo field was being saved
in the TBI file of the _VF_ folder and _not_ in the TBI file of the
message's original folder. So, as soon a VF is refreshed manually or
automatically, all Memos are Lost!!! :-(

I must consider this a bug because any other action done to a message in
a VF is actually done in the original folder of the message (i.e.
flagging, colour groups, etc.).

If anyone can confirm I will open a BT report.

TIA.
