TeamViewer, only the truth (Re[2]: Slow Mail Processing)
Hello Jens, I changed the subject, as I want to get out the truth about TeamViewer. I think, you talk about another program... Mine is bigger :) TeamViewer does not need any unusual open port, so any user can use it. That is the good point in it. It can go thru corporate firewalls. I tried this bevore, but it's disadvantage and the advantage of ShowMyPC is: No installation, even possible to start it from a webpage. The customer module of TV can be run also. But for me, if I cannot connect to a customer because their SSH port are closed, as is the case of your ShowMyPC (you said that it needs that open port), that is a big NO for a remote control program. Then that is only a toy. And (i don't remember in details) the netviewer didn't work for me in some cases, or caused problems in any way. I am talking about TeamViewer... I think, you talk about another program below. Just in case, I wrote answers if you really referred to TeamViewer. Ah, i found it: - they harried me with advertisements a lot Not for me, not for my customers. - they even sent out advertises with size over 1 Mb They dont ask for email... You download, install, that is all. How would they know your email??? - the application didn't start in 50% of my tries You are not talking about TeamViewer. I used it for ca. 500 support session, for ca. 250 different persons, companies. 100%! worked. You are talking about something else... - it was not able to get a connection ...this could be reproduced on 4 different systems - for a application with a fee of near 1000 Euro this is very poor 150 EURO for 6 months, 500 EURO for unlimited use, or 1000 EURO, but that is a site license with a lot of extra features (including the portable version...) -- Vili The Bat 4.0.14.1 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Szervizcsomag 2 Current beta is 4.0.14.7 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Slow Mail Processing
Hello BatGroup, I had previously reported that I had thought I had found my slow mail processing issue by removing a couple of add-in's that appeared to impact mail processing speed. For a short while mail processing returned to normal but quickly returned to the original state of making reading mail too slow (6-10 seconds from one msg to be able to select the next). I removed TB, cleaned the registry and reinstalled TB. Sadly, the same slow mail processing returned. I had preserved my previous mail database. I then un-installed TB including all data and address books, cleaned the registry again. I reinstalled TB using the msi from 4011 ( the latest msi I had) then applied the exe from 40145. As of right now, everything seems to be back to normal. Time will tell if it is fixed permanently. Is there a determent to updating from just replacing the exe files and not using the msi?? What is done in the msi installs that is not included by just replacing the exe file? All the system cleaning I did did not improve TB performance (cleanup need to be done anyway). So the problem appears to have been with the data base but I am not totally sure that was the only issue or what the problem was. :'( Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. I hate not knowing what fixed my problem. -- Best regards, Kyle TBVer/4.0.14.5 Windows XP Service Pack 2 Current beta is 4.0.14.4 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

What timeframe would be ok for you? -- Vili The Bat 4.0.14.1 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Szervizcsomag 2 Current beta is 4.0.14.4 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

What timeframe would be ok for you? Thanks for the offer, but it is really a moot point now. I have completely started over with a new database and no residuals from the last install. All I did was re-import my address book from Outlook. I have been running TB and leaving my mail on the server then downloading/deleting with Outlook just to be safe. TB seems to be functioning normally now, but it did before as well. Somewhere along the line of installing new release versions, something must have corrupted the database and was not repairable. I will monitor this install, make very few changes and document the ones that I do, to see if it goes back to the snail mode it was in. If it goes south again, I certainly may take you up on your offer to assist. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond and offer assistance. -- Best regards, Kylemailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Current beta is 4.0.14.4 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Slow Mail Processing
Hi BatGroup, I think I have resolved the slow mail issue, at least it appears so. When cleaning up TB trying to determine why mail processing was so slow, I had had deleted two add-in's previously (MyMacros,Shell) but somehow they did not get removed. Going through the Options/Preferences settings one last time, I noted that the two add-in's were back. So I deleted them again, restarted TB and checked to make sure they were gone..they were. Checking mail, normal reading speed had returned, although receiving still appears slower that other clients (Outlook,Thunderbird,Eudora, etc). I'm not sure which of the two add-in's would be impacting mail processing so negatively but it appears one or both were the reason mail was so slow. I have the MsgCenter visible during receiving and will test to see if having inactive will speed up the process. What other options impacts receiving and posting mail to the folders and subsequent reading?? I think I can put this one away now...:'( Thanks for all the suggestions and help from everyone who responded... -- Kyle TheBat! 4.0.14.2 Windows XPPro 5 1 Build 2600 SP2 Current beta is 4.0.14.2 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Slow Mail Processing
Hello Kyle, Well, I just do not know what else to do. I have run Maintenance on all of TheBat mail folders, Defraged my drives, Run chkdsk on all drives, Defragged and padded the MFT, and still no joy. Downloading the mail takes too long, once mail is processed, reading each message takes between 6-10 seconds from the time I select the msg until I am able to switch to a new message. As a last resort, I will delete the program, clean the registry and reinstall the program to see if that makes a difference. SC Are you using a spam checker? I use Bitdefender but AV is turned off for TB. Have you completely turned off Bitdefender or even uninstalled it just to test? -- Best regards, Miguel A.
