Hover your cursor over the EXE of TB and such info will be revealed.
Or right-click the EXE, choose properties and then the tab Version.

BTW, after having installed with the latest MSI I still get .29, not
.30. And I tried different ways to install (Custom and Repair, with or
without original EXE present).

Same here. The version downloaded this morning has the same size as the
one from the afternoon, although a comparison in my file manager shows
differences. Kerio PF also detected some change. Still, I can't see
which version I'm actually running. I'm sure it's somewhere in the
source... ;-)

Maybe the reason is, that one uses the home and another one the pro
version? There might be already some slight changes in the naming of the
subversions. Matter of fact: You use pro (shown in header field) and
Kian owns a copy of the home version.

Me too and I get this:

This part was removed because it was infected.
Anti-virus reports:
Win32/Netsky.D worm

The original part header follows:

Content-Type: application/octet-stream;
name="document_word.pif"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

filename="document_word.pif"

So it certainly works fine here.

No, Tonys message didn't have a file *.pif in its message, nor was its

No it wasn't. All I did was to create a *new* message and then pasted the
NOD32 report into it. There was nothing different about it to this message
whereby your text is pasted as a quote above.

It was a plain, common or garden text message created from new.

I know, but the text (letters) 'document_word.pif' were in his message,
He included the whole NOD32 report which was:

,- [ In  Tony wrote:]
| This part was removed because it was infected.
| Anti-virus reports:
| Win32/Netsky.D worm
|
| The original part header follows:
|
| Content-Type: application/octet-stream;
| name="document_word.pif"
| Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
| Content-Disposition: attachment;
| filename="document_word.pif"
`-

Now, does that text contain the words/letters "document_word.pif" in it,
or not?

It is actually a copy of the message headers that some ISPs look at for
possible spam or viruses. That's what I am saying. That probably that's
what Ian's ISP virus scanning saw and flagged Tony's message as
infected.

Maybe not because there is a difference. Your message included NOD32
report which in turn included the header lines for an attachment and,
you didn't quote them (i.e. with >) the (stupid) virus/spam scanner
could have taken them as real. I have seen this (or similar) happen
before with Bayesian filter scanning.

Is it time for a version number jump?

2000-03-31 Thread Peter Steiner

Hello TB! beta testers

with all this big improvements in the Beta 1.42 series (new message
base, many long standing bugs corrected), there is perhaps the time
for a major jump in the version number.

I would propose 1.50, but as RIT Labs don't seem to like numbers
ending in zero (quoting Max: "We've jumped from 1.39 to 1.41 to
avoid trailing zeros - they are sometimes treated as milestones."),
we could settle to 1.51 ;-)

There would be another advantage: many TB! are used to just copy a
new version over the old one. Now with the new message base and the
potential problems of converting (not that i think there are still
major problems with the conversion), skipping some numbers could
help indicating that it is more than just "another new version".

Is not version numbering used to note how much work was done in the

Sorry but there are strict guidelines although I would have to
research who and where. Nothing that could or should be "enforced
If a version goes from v3 to 3.1 then 10% of the code has been

It doesn't matter what I think. I was explaining that there IS a
protocol for numbering software. I SPECIFICALLY said it didn't mean a
total rewrite but the decimals "usually" indicate the approximate
amount of code AFFECTED. Whole number increments are new versions - I
didn't even TRY to imply that they threw out all there old code and
started fresh (Really!) Ritlabs could decide that all is ready and
take this very release and rename it 4.0 and release it as a new
version

But since you asked what I think my answer is YES most big companies
are in compliance and follow it fairly closely. It is not a set of
rules but rather guidelines. But it does exist

Have you been (virtually) executed yet or do we have to wait for

I know. I should have used a smiley but thought it was clear from my
non-sensicle last sentence.

Vili, I posted on the list that I accessed your server! This makes it
clear that I had no intentions of hiding my access.

I wrote: "... hoping you don't know who I am" - and then I signed with
my full name. I thought the irony was obvious, but obviously it
wasn't. Sorry for the confusion.

V> Come on guys, a little sense of humor...

All is fine. I understood your intentions correctly from the
beginning, only my posting came over too dry. ;-)
