Re: probllem about list
Hi All, On Sun, 24 Jun 2001 at 19:54:07 GMT +0100 (which was 25/06/2001 1:54 GMT +0700 my Local Time) Marck D Pearlstone=[MDP] wrote to [EMAIL PROTECTED] : PP Don't want to 'convert' anybody, but what about a linux-based PP ml-server? AFAIK they're cheaper (ezmlm or listar don't cost a PP thing), stable like the english pound *g*, good to scale and I've PP not much trouble with configuration/administration :-) The opposite is, in fact, the truth here. The server causing the problem is, I think, an external Linux one being used for routing. I know for certain that it's not MDaemon causing the problem because both Syafril and I know how to operate it (and lists on it) perfectly. The truth is I am running Linux Redhat on home.worldless.net, and PostFix MTA (at first I am running Qmail) and Listar ListServer (at first EZMLM installed there) running there since last week. I was also running MailScan to filter any viruses and HTML part on MDaemon Listserver, since last 2 weeks. I am trying to optimize the Mdaemon Listserver by changing the message route through other server (so ListServer only act as Receiving, authenticating and generate single route/copywhile exploiding/distributing), and I want to utilitize Message Pipelining (crunching) while sending messages address to same domain to optimize bandwith connection. At first, I just changing the relayer through other server, but this trick burden the other server, because the Listserver generate multiple rcpt-to: messages to the relayer (hard for relayer to accept this whatever type of MTA been using) and Pipeline effect not working (I was testing using Mercury, Other Mdaemon, Qmail, Exim and Postfix, getting same result). So I set MDaemon ListServer to generate only single copy/message (but with multiple rcpt-to: on the header) to the relayer and it's working as I expected. So Linux/Postfix is NOT the culprit here, nor other Mdaemon/Mercury. MDaemon ListServer must prepare completely before sending it through Relayer or I must create them (Content Filter) on Relayer side. As Marck point out, I promise to fixed this, but unfortunately last week I was so busy preparing moving house of my office (now I am in new office) so have no time to touch it. I will look what can I do for this case. PP But maybe this question is wrong because Deerfield is sponsoring PP licence and support *GGG* No, they're not. They just happen to produce one of the best mail servers there is for the PC platform and Syafril and I originally met up on the betateam for the MDaemon server - when it was still and Alt-N product. PP Sorry, don't want to afford somebody, it just came to my mind who PP does pay the bill for licences, etc. :-) Syafril runs the servers anyway to support his business and his clients. As a TB fan and an old friend he has kindly hosted the TB lists without charge and with much effort on his existing server configuration, for which I can only express lasting gratitude :-))). Correct, no problem with licensing, this server using registered MDaemon Pro Unlimited License. If you have a '+' next to the Personal address book entry, click on that + and you should see a list of groups within your address book - if you have any. If you do have groups (or even just one group) then you may have turned on the Hide items unless explicitly selected option, which would make the addresses disappear as you describe. Another thing is in the Edit | Properties for the main address book - - your address book may have become associated with a non-existent LDAP server accidentally and that would also make the addresses disappear. The fact that you say that auto-complete work belies that thought however. JV I see no options to IMPORT or EXPORT my address book. HM Please don't think I'm being ignorant here since I don't care too much about the HM version numbers, it's just that I have been spoiled by TheBat's perfect HM performance for so long. HM I've just kept upgrading out of a true habit, not thinking too much about it. HM I'm not a power user, I just love the interface, filtering, other basic HM functions, and until now - stability. Since installing 1.53bis, The Bat! keeps crashing every day, sometimes several times a day, and I only use it for a couple of hours a day. It's disappointing. TB! crashes even when it's the only program except the OS running. The crash typically occurs after I switch folders swiftly, swiftly marking all messages read, etc., after rapidly switching between html and plaintext view of a html message, etc. In short, since installing 1.53bis TB! crashes in moments when it never used to crash before. I trust I won't need to perform a fresh reinstall and lose my preferences in order to get rid of the crashes. Instead, I hope that TB's next regular release (1.54) will be more stable. -- Yours, Alex. of Slovakia www.avenarius.sk [flying with The Bat! 1.53bis under Windows 98 4.10 Build A amd k6-2 500 mhz processor with 128 mb ram] -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Though I don't know what's causing your problems, I certainly can't confirm any instability here. My first TB! was v1.52f. From there to my present v1.53d (including the two bis versions), it's been extremely stable! Never a crash - or even a minor error. I have ten POP3 accounts, 179 folders, auto-responders going off, mail being checked every five minutes, etc., and if it's been so solid for me, I can only guess that there are other conflicts going on for you that I don't have. In any event, I'm certainly not ready to pronounce v1.53bis unstable. Not at all in my experience. I do wish you luck though in diagnosing the problems you're having! Re: ALL MAIL in my BAT InBox has disappeared (except very latest download)
Hi, David, You are not alone here. A month ago the mail of one half of our employees disappeared (funny thing - affected were employees whose last name began with P-Z). We used version 1.43 (or 1.44), network edition. Not just the inbox, all of it. The folders became absolutely empty. I don't think the OS is at fault - too many people on this list try to explain the cause of these absolute disasters by blaming it all on the OS. During this month, you are about the 6th or 7th person who reports this error. If it were a reported bug which was fixed in the latest versions, everyone would know about it. Unfortunately, I think one cannot rely on The Bat being a rock-solid application - yet. Personally, I use a local version of TB and it runs perfectly. The network edition has proved quite unreliable - even the 1.52 release (the other day an employee reported he has lost all mail after returning from a vacation). Can anyone at least take a shot at explaining what's going on? Best regards, Stas DRA What is the world can be going on with The Bat here in my sys? Same here. Not the Inbox, but one of my folders. The file messages.tbb has vanished. The file messages.tbi told me that there were 5 news messages in there. That was last Thursday. I hadn't done any compress or purge action. Today, upon startup, same folder, new problem: both files (*.tbb and *.tbi) gone. I have now deleted the folder, and created a new one. Weird it is indeed. See my version in the sig; stand-alone. Never had this problem before. Happened only with one folder out of 22 in one of my 8 accounts, so I didn't report it as a bug. Let's see whether it happens again tomorrow morning, after I have now re-created the folder. -- Cheers, Thomas. Moderator der deutschen The Bat! Beginner Liste. Re[2]: Address book
It is almost as though I were not even using a newer version. my windows look the same..sometimes, and then at other times, I seem to notice that the colors and icons are just a wee bit fresher and newer looking. it is the new version, now I am sure of it.OK..exactly.. on the main TB page, I see in the blue window bar:Edit Mail Message Below that, are the words...Message, Edit, Search, utilities, Spell Chjecker, Privacy, View, Options. Next row is icons of the tasks, including send the letter and Put the letter in the Outbox. Next I see the word 'TO'...and at the end of that bar are 3 lil boxes. The first has a black scroll down arrow (view history). Nex, I see a blue arrow pointing towards the left. It is to 'add to the address book', but there is no + sign here.I can R click on it, and a drop down menu appears. In addition to the words UNDO, CUT, COPY, PASTE, SELECT ALL, I see a partial address book. If I SELECT ALL, it does not select all. Now the 3rd square has the address book icon. If I R click on it, I get the same thing I did when I R click on the blue arrow just mentioned. But a L click brings up a window with the blue bar at the top. It says 'Pick E-mail addresses' and it opens up an empty address book. I also see TO/CC/BCC, but there are no names that are highlightable...or available to select. no,I do not see a + sign, only the hot tip when the cursors rests over the blue arrow box. Does that help? and thank you Marck Monday, June 25, 2001, 2:24:27 AM, you wrote: MDP -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- MDP Hash: SHA1 MDP Hi JOANNE, MDP On 25 June 2001 at 19:47:17 -0700 (which was 03:47 where I live) MDP JOANNE VIRANT wrote to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and made these points: JV when i get to the newer version's address selector page...where I JV would normally just highlight names I chose, there are no names JV there.
